Uh, I am not sure how you got that out of my post. GW 2 will have rather similar stuff on the armors unlike Wow.

the minority are the ones who contiuously asks for rating!?? (hey, what happened to: I'm playing a fantasygame to get away from reallife and you're asking me about rating....? what? )

I did not say anything about that at all, did you reply to the wrong post?

the minority are the ones who never ever shows up in the world but only stays in the hub-spot looking for group just to get another epic and spits on you if you are asking: "normal mode?" (a beautiful gameworld is nothing but a pain to walk throu to get to the top in rankings I guess?)

the minority are the ones who don't care about story, lore or friendship-ingame but only about getting to the top as soon as possible?

If the so called "casuals" are playing WoW.........I might stay with WoW! And I will be happy if this minority leaves!

Actually, there is another group that will stay: Hardcore raiders. GW 2 wont have anything for them either. And I am not sure that minority is the perfect term for a third of the MMO population, the regular PvE players that spend over 10 hours a week playing.

But it is fine if you stay at Wow, only you can choose which game that fits you best and there is nothing wrong with being a casual player. Choosing the game that fits your playstyle best is always a good idea.

But you shouldn't dislike people who plays another style than you, we all like different things and it is good that some games are more for certain play styles than others, it makes it easier to find like minded to play with.

He knows that. NCSoft are the publishers of the game tho and the publisher plays a HUGE role on the success of a game.

WoW-Killer? *yawn* Killing a game a decade after it's released is sure tale worth beeing told still in centuries to come. If this ever happens.

Let's play Fallen Earth (blind, 300 episodes)

Let's play Guild Wars 2 (blind, 45 episodes)

So basically what your trying to say is, the majority of people who plays WoW will migrate to GW2? Honestly, that fact alone puts a sour taste in my mouth, :/   I must admit, GW2 does look promising,,, even If it's a non sub based game... However, I hated most of the community in WoW and definitely won't follow the train...

I'm hoping most of the crappy WoW community migrates to GW2.. That would mean we won't see many of that type of community in Rifts..  This alone excites me,. :)

Here's to GW 2 replacing WoW, *raises Miller Lite bottle*

Here's to Rifts having an intelligent, helpful, and awesome EQish community, *Raises JD Shot Glass*

    Cheers!

The hype doesn't seem to go up or down very much...

Is this an indication of consisting quality from the developers, a very loyal fanbase or perhaps the desire from a whole mmo-community to destroy WoW?

Well, we don't know for sure. Could be several reasons ofcourse but one thing is for sure... the hype remains!!! Beware WoW:ers image

they need to add a rule to the forums, that anyone that makes a thread with "wow-killer" in it get their IP banned...

We should really just stop responding to these lame threads.

You know what hype raitings and normal raitings have in common?

    They're both MEANINGLESS.

  • MiklosanMiklosan Member Posts: 176

Threads like this are pointless in one way but very interressting in another way though. A lots of people coming across this forums ARE looking a little at "what's hot and what's not" so to speak. Most never look deeper than the "hotlist"/hypemeter top 5....

If one goes further and beyond the hypesquare and look at the gamelist you'll se lots of upcoming games way way lower in this so called "hypemeter-thingy" than Guild Wars. Those games will go unnoticed by folks who are just passing by.

Wow kille hehehe, it might hamper the cash flow to wow for a very short time but thats it, wow will get every single person back again if not more.

Gw2 will be great that i have no doubt about, but i highly doubt this game will capture the masses for years to come.

It's more like a singleplayer game where you buy it and have great fun for a while, some will stick around for a long time but i belive most will drop off after a 3-6 month then return on new expansions.

But im 100% sure this game will sell good, i havent met many people that did not enjoy Gw1 even if it was just for a few months.

Gw 2 will be a quality game and worth every penny.

What's funny is people keep thinking GW2 will steal players from WoW, just through hype and buzz and word-of-mouth etc etc...

But the reality of it is the reverse might happen, since gw2 probably won't have the replayability and strong grip on one that some of the more in-depth mmorpgs had, when friends get bored on gw2, maybe people that are new to mmos, their friends might start talking to them about other MMORPGs that were a bit more hardcore, or had more challenging content etc.

GW2 may end up being the bridge for people who are new to mmos, and eventually they may move on to different types of mmorpgs.

Ive been on this site for a very long time (mostly as a lurker) and honestly i never took hype rating seriously.

I don't get how anyone could be this excited by something that could be exploited so easily...

The world is not so simple that you can top ~12 million subscriptions just by releasing a "better" game of its genre. I can detail my opinion on this, but too many have said so already.

We always see the same thing WoW Killer. When will people finally understand? I think the worst thing I have seen in any post is the repeated term "WoW Killer". I am no fan of WoW, not by any level, but who cares about Killing WoW?

Make a good game, make a good argument WHY it IS a good game. List the reasons. Compare the features. The term "WoW Killer" is so overused and people think just cause they say it that people would look twice at their game. Honestly, I have seen this claim so many times and the game was absolutely terrible.

Not saying GW will be, the game looks great. But, if needed, we could list EVERY game (with the help of the community) the games that LOOKED great and were proclaimed to be "WoW Killers" and ended up a terrible game. We need to wean the users away from saying "WoW Killer" simply because it is a ridiculous ploy.

    • What does the game have to offer?

    • What makes it exceptional

    • Why should this game be played at all?

    • How will it break the norm and progress MMORPGs?

    • What evidence can be provided that when released it won't flop?

That is my take on "WoW Killers"

First off when WoW is killed it will probably be by some company that has never made an mmo before, like blizzard did when it made WoW. Secondly I don't think any buy box to play game without a sub will kill WoW, simply because most people will play it a while then play other mmo's they pay for then come back.  So you really can't judge what a game will do until after it is out and people have been playing it.

ok...I'll bite.    You god damn mother fucking retard.  Saying something is the "enter title or work here" killer is plain ignorant.

YOU CANT KILL SOMETHING THAT ISN'T ALIVE.

nor can you KILL SOMTHING WITH INTERESTED PEOPLE.  Hell there is still a group of folks play Legends of Kesmai.

You can't kill art. So STOP SAYING THIS FUCKING PHRASE.

    sheesh.
