Well done, I think you killed the topic eventually. This will surely leave everyone speechless (but not for the reason you wanted). :D

Denial makes one look a lot dumber than he/she actually is.

in light of the arguments that followed it, my oppinion has evolved. Or at least my presentation of it.

is that not allowed? afterall isn't that why we debate things on forums?

Evolving your opinion, sure. Debates, sure. Bold claims stating that a F2P game is "No where close to f2p" are something completely different, however, especially if you neglect to acknowledge they are false.

you can't make me the author of his argument. :( Not really sure how to respond to this argument. I'll just leave it at "I'm not the OP".

To actually answer your question, yes every single item in the store can be acquired with a decent amount of playing. The problem isn't that people say hey i can't get Lonelands(level 20-33 area), or that it would take particularly long to get the TP for it. The problem is people say:

    I want

    • Lonelands

    • 3 new Charslots

    • Gold limit removal

    • both expansions

    • trait limit removal

    • riding skill

    • a horse

    • 3 regions to get me easily to 50 with quests

    • couple stat tomes

    • some exp items

    • vault space, wardrobe and shared storage

and then notice that it will take a shitload of grinding to get it all. What they don't recognize is that they bought most of fricking content in the store and are rapidly approaching the lands of what lifetimers got(I.e. people who paid 300+ dollar). Your not supposed to get all that for free without a shitload of grinding that would make jesus cuss.

    Well...

"Opinion's" by definitation cannot be incorrect as they are simply entirely subjective tastes (i.e. Chocolate is disgusting). They may be poorly supported or vastly unpopular...but that is different from incorrect.

Assertions of fact, on the other hand, can be correct or incorrect. (i.e. Chocolate is composed of 99% Uranium)

You see new idiots every day.  A once p2p becomes partially free.. and that is somehow a bad thing.  Yeah, sorry.  You can take your stupid elsewhere =P

Free To Play.. meaning you can play the game for free.  And you can.  It is a fact.  It is not a topic that can be argued.  Just because you can't play it as efficiently as subbing doesn't mean you can't play it for free.  Stop whining and be happy that Turbine decided to be generous.

    Wait for it.....

    Wait....

    You've played for free!!

Now, please go away, and let those of us who understand that Turbine is running a buisness, not a charity, discuss the game.

Actually F2P is a bit of a misnomer. If some-one is familiar to MMO's then you understand what F2P translates to in the context of the genre.... Which is basicaly micro-transaction based models for "enhanced" user experience. Some-one unfamiliar with MMO's could be thrown by the term though....as there ARE for proffit business models that exist without any direct payments from the audience...and where the audience gets the entirety of the content for free.

Broadcast Radio or TV are examples of such....basicaly they make thier money off of getting paid by advertisers to put ads in front of thier audience...rather then collecting any payment from the audience itself. There are a fair number of web based games and services that follow that model as well. So I do think it's a bit misleading in the way MMO's tend to use the term....but yeah..anyone familiar with how MMO's use the term should know what to expect when they see it...

I have played a lot of MMO and so far all the F2P really sucks.  Played the Lotro F2P for a week now and I understand why  they decided to F2P lol.

Pardon my English as it is not my 1st language :)

I lost interest in the game once it went F2P, after week two of F2P I just gave up on the long ques and the worlds going down.

I've played LOTRO for ages. God knows I've lost more of my life in moria than I care to think about (also skirmishes...dear god addictive is not the word).

I recently went about the method of a f2per on a seperate account just to see if complaining is valid.

    It's not.

    Back story time.

    On my main account

I've a premium, I've purchased 45 bucks or so worth of content. (meaning I can essentially play for free whenever I want) The quest lands investment paid off as I am able to alt and deed in those zones and gain alot of TP.

My current main account has 800 TP earned from the time I purchased the lone lands and north downs (alt grinding zones ftw).

Prior to that it had 350 (enough to easily unlock the lone lands and start the grind.

Quest regions have proved to be a long term investment plan for this game. They produce TP via deeds. (even a free player can access many of the grind mobs deeds anyhow!).

All in all after a week from my initial purchase I've been able to unlock a new character slot or a bag.

On my free to play account.

This account after 5 alts has made enough to easily get lone lands. (the first initial investment).

After that it's gravy getting new deeds with other alts. Expected time of unlocking content given rate?

    6 months roughly.*

6 months playing and grinding and you'll eventually be able to play the game completely for free. That's the content. Bags, traits and so forth. It can be done. Would I do it? Hell no. I'ld sooner buy 3 packs for about 22 bucks rather than grind that long but YOU CAN DO IT.

*I compare to my play style which resembles the mixture of a gold farmer and a hardcore geeky rper. That's right. I grind and grind without worry because it's fun to me.

I can tell you this, since the game went f2p I've made so many new friends and we assist eachother on deeds to unlock content. There are tons of people out there now looking for a grinding partner. Is it fun? Not to many, but hey... Think of it like you are a Roman slave haha. Just work it off and eventually you may be able to compare to a paying player.
