QFT!  That is the most sense I have ever seen coming from a gamer.

Even if they didn't spend money, but there's people who spend tons of time in the official forums supporting Masthead.

These people have every right to complain imho, if Masthead isn't delivering what they've promised... eg a video that was announced over 9 month ago.

And if those people do start complaining after supporting the game for over two years, then they get permabanned from the official forums... just sayin'.

i will always wait for the release of this game, as i have been following this for almost 1 and a half years, although the delay does make me unpatient

but as i personally think, this game will not release this year, i remember reading a recent interview that AA said it's still early for release date where this game is supposedly release before next year which is in around 4 months, and if 4 months is too early for them to state the release date

then sorry, this will be a 2011 release

    So What Now?

Its their game, they can release it whenever the hell they want. They are under no obligation to feed players information about whats going on with THEIR game, gotta get past this time where we expect Devs to spoon feed us on their games they crafted just for us, and get back to Devs making THEIR games for them and us getting interested in them ourselves from liking what they did.

Fans really need to stop feeling obligated to stuff because we really arnt

    Seriously ?

They post that release is for Q4 2010  and its now 29-9-2010 and you wonder why peeps want to know when its coming out.

With what they said in the last interview i will be surprised if open beta starts this year...

While I fully understand that we all want the game to come out, simply because it is unique compared to most other games out there...I still don't get all the flaming.  Guarentee you that if they launch it timely, the same people flaming now would be flaming that Masthead sucks and launched a half-ass game.  We all as a community need to give it a chance.  I will say that their communication has been really bad in the past.  Back in Feb they said they were going to release new screenshots every Friday ongoing...they didn't release a new pic for over five months after that.  That's something I can understand people getting upset with, but they have done a good job lately of following through with their word and I believe that this game could be strong.  Hope it will be.

For Huxley?! That' s pretty silly. I felt the same way. 2 years ago. Then I logged into the Korean version and played it. They later scrapped that version and tried to re-invent it. It is almost the same exact game with some very minor tweaks. There have been numerous North America beta tests. It is nothing like what you think it is. Think peer to peer instanced matches of Unreal Tournament 3 with some pve thrown in. While not AWFUL it is a very forgettable game. Go buy UT3 for a few bucks, download mods, and call it a day. You'll be much more happy. Also, there are plenty of videos out there, and if you'd like more info, PM me, I can give you a link or two.

Now, to Earthrise! I DO agree with you, Frettizelli. I've been following this for a few years now. I don't mind if they need more time to to get it right.  However, they have never released an MMO before (correct me if I am wrong) and their silence has been deafening for most loyal fans. I'm quite skeptical about the state of their development.

Hopefully they will pull it off. I am certainly rooting for them.

I thought I read something like 6 months ago that led me to believe it wouldn't be out until next year. Forgot what it was, but I wasn't expecting ER until like spring 2011 the earliest.

Hmm, it might have been something about the stage of beta they were in.

Well, as others have said, I rather they delay than release earlier filled with bugs.  I never cared much how little info a company released because usually the more info someone released, the more I got disappointed when they didn't live up to everything they said there would be.

Of course a progress report every now and then would alleviate a lot of tension among prospective players, lol.

Soo funny to read people here telling that they wont give money to a company, that releases no info about their product.

Sometimes i am glad that the doomcryers here dont represent most of the market.

Speaking about ER and judgeing it now is like watching a hen and complaining about how it makes no noises while breeding an egg.

    Duh.

i think only one person or maybe even  no one said that they wont pay for the game with no info

If they have to delay the release, then that's all fine, but they should announce the delay couple of weeks/month before the announced release and not afterwards like they did it the last time.

It's also not professional to announce new videos and not delivering anything... It's 9 month since then!

    This.

I like the idea and thought of ER, but I don't like it enough to give money to a company that I feel lacks a professional gaming business feel.

Earthrise = great, but MHS = sucks.  But that to me means I won't be playing the game unless I feel something has changed.

Above all else... never ever piss off the penguin.

I have seen games that do not deliver from companys that SHOULD be able to create a proper  game (content, gameplay).

I guess ER will be a subject to practicaly test and see. If it is good i dont mind having an unknown company behind it.

Prepare yourself guys, this vaporware is going to be in a worse state than Mortal Online on its release day. Even if its another year from now. It has a long, long, long way to go to be in a sellable state. But has that stopped developers before? Nope, especially not small-time developers like MHS.

That is not true at all. This game will not be in a worse state then Mortal Online because unlike SV, MHS actually knows how to fix their own engine and also because MHS has more money then SV has. If the game has the core elements and is not buggy as all hell, it is  in a sellable state. There has never been a game that has been released with out bugs or 100% completed especially amongst indie companies.

FYI MHS is larger in size then SV is however MHS is lacking programmers however I have full faith in MHS that they will eventually get their shit together. Also for people that are saying they are unprofessional because they are not releasing information on the state of the game or living up to dates. I could name a bunch of other companies that do the same thing so get over yourselves and stop being doom sayers. Be patient and just check in every now and then.

Didn't Masthead get the rights to make Fallout online or was it another company??  maybe thats the issue.

No they did not get the rights to FO they signed an agreement with Interplay to allow Interplay use their engine and that they would support Interplay. The support they are giving them is only if there is something wrong with the Earthrise Engine(This is what I am going to call it since I don't know if they have named the Engine yet). Either then that Earthrise is not supporting Interplay in any other way. All designs and everything else is on the part of Interplay.

Edit: FO is in no way slowing down development of Earthrise I just want to make that clear before anyone say it is.

Really? You just used both of those in the same moment? Brilliant

pay money, play game, STFU. Is there really more to it?

I'd like to stress that the only support the above statement actually has is MHS' word and, to be frank, MHS' word is worthless at this point.

They've been habitually dishonest about their "beta" testing claiming it began as early as September 2008 (L-O-****ing-L), nearly a year later they still haven't delivered the combat video that was promised last December/January, and to top it all off there is absolutely no direct communication of any kind between MHS devs and their community besides 1-2 completely random forum posts per year

I'm still not sure I believe that ER was anything but a vehicle for MHS to sell their proprietary tech to a larger company.  We still don't have a single screenshot of a civilized area and they are still using completely faked and posed screenshots (as seen here) in their most recent media.

So MHS created a FB page, and someone asked about release date:

    • Todd Wickstrom Is this even out yet?

      September 28 at 10:32am ·

    • Earthrise Release date: Q4 2010!

      September 28 at 4:46pm ·

I would think that whoever is running FB page has the inside info and knows what hes talking about.

But then from a recent interview on Sept 28 with Atanasov, he says the following:

The Earthrise beta is going well. We are very happy with the beta testers' feedback and their dedication to helping us make the game a compelling and enjoyable experience. Our plans are to continue adding new beta testers in the coming weeks.

It is still early to speak about the release date, but make sure to follow our announcements on our website, which will be the fastest way to learn the exact launch date for Earthrise.

On another topic from the same interview, Atanasov says this:

In the past few years, the Earthrise development has had its strengths and challenges, just like any MMO. Developing a MMO is a difficult, lengthy and sometimes, an unpredictable process. We are doing our best to exceed the expectations of our fans, which is one of the reasons we don't release a lot of updates or videos - we are focused on development.

ER obviously won't be releasing in Q4 of this year.  In fact, I'm sure their next delay announcement will be as unprofessional as their last.

Meaning they'll more than likely announce a new release date sometime near the end of Q4.

  • TweFojuTweFoju Member UncommonPosts: 1,236

yes, i think they are too unprofessional in this

i mean, ok they are not a big company, but since their project on ER, people have high regards for them

but this is just too much

they state their game for Q4 2010

we are on October now, which means, there are only 2 months left to release this game if they want to make their statement true

at least if they are to delay, they should have know already, and this may well be the time to announce the delay

it will be so funny that they will only announce the delay on 31st decembe, haha

man i dont understand what's so hard on announcing another delay, because the community already expect them to delay. dont the realize this?

    unless

they are not going into Open Beta, or last resort is to have a OB as short as 2 weeks time before they release it on December

whichever it is, i still believe they are not gonna make it

    So What Now?

  • Joker2240Joker2240 Member Posts: 664

I don't get the big fuss.... I mean there is far worse things that they could do that would make them unprofessional. To me the delay of not announcing a delay is on the bottom of my list.  I could care less how they announce the delay as long as they inform us then whatever. They only have two bad things going against them right now, unable to tell us if there is a delay or not and the gameplay video. Either then that, there is nothing wrong with them and they are handling everything else really well for an indie company.

FYI, a website for leaking pictures have pictures of earthrise beta.... just so you guys know.

Ha, the ones which confirm Agrisin and Harabeck as beta testers (and that Agrisin is the leaker)?

lol yeah, there are other testers that are community members on those photos. I don't think Agrisin is the leaker, he is most likely the one that posts screenshots on the beta forums the most though. I always thought Harabeck was a beta tester cause of one day he just dropped posting activity by a lot.  I think that is proof enough that a closed beta is on going in some sort of shape.
