This is very shallow PVP if the full PVP servers have no karma system, and even if they do whos to say everyone wont be hiding in the games many rewarding instances.  Its pretty obvious that PVP is taking the back seat on this one.  Not that its a bad thing cause the game looks great, but whoever expects a Lineage 2 style pvp experience is going to be let down.

lol   So they offer every type of pvp imaginable, but that[object Window]s still not good enough for you...

Well whats the point of open pvp when players can just get loot and exp from instances if they need to hide.  There is nothing but bragging rights involved in that list of PVP, nothing to really fight over.  Castle sieges would be nice but those wont be in at launch if ever.

You[object Window]re assuming that the large-scale battlegrounds won[object Window]t contain castle sieges... or that the open world pvp won[object Window]t have them as well.  Rather than taking such a negative stance on these things, why not just keep an open mind until more information is released?

pvp wont be a weakness in tera, the weakness will be the subscription, great games are coming out with a sub-, so this game (based on what we know about it as of today) not worth a sub-... better save the cash for something better... that is just my opinion, i still like what i see so far, but i wont sub-

Go read the official forums there is no sieges. I dont have a negative stance on the game im simply arguing on the topic at hand, which I agree on that TERAs weak point is the PVP.  I dont have a problem with that...

I disagree, TERA in my belief will be alot more fun than the other subscription games coming out.  It[object Window]s actually going to be a different experience.

They've already stated there will be pvp servers where you can kill anyone. Nothing else to discuss, nubs.

Amira: Can you give us any specifics about the battleground system?

Brian: No, we're not talking too much about the specifics right now. For the most part, we're really focusing on PvE now and making sure that the balance and pacing in the game is correct, making sure the classes are good. Then when we balance for PvP, we're going to be balancing for party play, not one on one. There are some cool things we'll get into later on.

From a Korean Tester:  (seems like the AoC PVP servers when I played it)

    7) PK system issues

    Not enough rules/regulations for PK.

Too much freedom to PK right now

Seeing as their is not very much info about PVP at all would be a good indicator that its not the main focus of the game.  It's quite obvious really.  Game looks great nonetheless, just don't expect a PVP game and you won't be disappointed.

It's all a matter of taste. I won't touch a FFA PvP game.

Vault-Tec analysts have concluded that the odds of worldwide nuclear armaggeddon this decade are 17,143,762... to 1.

What are you on about? There will be open pvp servers, pvp anyone anywhere except towns... sounds like a PVP game to me.

It's a pvp game dude. Ever since it was known that the combat is action, I labeled the game as a good pvp. I don't care about what it is, even if the only pvp was 1v1 duels it would still rock simply because of the gameplay.

Okay it's a PVP game because it has the option for open PVP.  You guys missed the point. The topic is whether or not TERA's PVP system will be any good.

And by system you mean? To put it simply, if you liked Lineage II pvp, you'll love Tera's. Open pvp = pvp game. Battleground don't = a pvp game, they're just to get people to shut up. Plenty of videos on Tera pvp.

  • zereelistzereelist Member Posts: 373

How do you know it will be like Lineage 2 pvp? From what I have read it is FFA PVP meaning you don't flag, just kill at will.

By "system" I mean - A karma system, death penalty system, flagging system.   As far as I know these things don't exist in the game atm. Correct me if you know for a fact I'm wrong.

There will be a flagging system much like, if not exactly like, Lineage II system.

I can't believe people are still getting sucked into asian MMO's lol. If I was to go down that road and play one then I'd likely just wait for Blade & Soul. Completely off topic but oh well. I've seen CBT3 PvP vids and wasn't all that impressed. It all looked a little gimmicky to me, just my opinion. The PvE did look cool, though. And I also remember reading somewhere that Tera planned to focus on PvE to cater to western clientele.

So you'd choose Blade & Soul, an un-westernized grind, over an MMO who has their own devleopment company in the U.S? Don't think you should be acting so mighty.

I wasn't allowed to copy information from the tester boards, so just quit whining.

That's funny cause the tester's on the official forums don't know shit about the open PVP.

Hate to bring up other games,  but after watching those videos.  All i can say is

This is how you do real time pvp.
