The only news they'd have for today is probably "Servers are down." So there you go, I saved you the trouble, that's the headline. Wait for tomorrow if you want actual information.
The morning sun has vanquished the horrible night.
Really, I'm not sure what I was expecting here on this site. But come on, they added 4,000 quests today. They completely redid about 75% of all the zones in the game.
I just found it ironic that it isn't even mentioned no this site, yet the featured article is about GW2 not having any news. It's really ironic since it looks like Blizzard has started advertising on this site.
And of course this isn't my primary source of WOW news. (mmo champion and wow insider).
Tomorrow's lead story, a question and answer session with the artist who picked the color to use on leaves in AOC.

So we've just skipped right over my explanation?
Yeah, I think so, most posters don't actually read the threads and the replies that are posted in them.
Its true, its pretty big news to many folks, me personally it's of only passing interest. I put WOW behind me over 4 years ago and am actually more interested in the next new class in GW2 than I am with regards to anything in WOW.

Azrile most people who bother to sign up to a site like this are normally MMO veterans. There are not many MMO veterans that would consider any events that are going on in WOW to be of any interest.
Lets face it WOW is just another tired old EQ clone and no amount of new landscape or races is going to move it away from the tired old formula. How the hell you can play a game that still uses auto target button mashing shite combat is beyond me. Does it not bore the shite out of you yet?
What a shame that you think this site should focus on WOW when there are so many interesting new types of MMOs coming out (Guild Wars NOT being one of them!).
its completely irrelevant what some wannabe "veterans" think, nor what you think about sign-up-reasons on this site. the OP is perfectly right - its nothing else but unprofessional to not cover events of this importance to the genre.
but then again - there is massively for information, mmorpg.com for trolling, not?
No offense but whats so important about the news? OOOO their releasing new quests (they always do) OOO their releasing a new race( been there for BC) OOO their tearing up the world ( So what its stale so they are trying to unstale it by releasing the same crap but telling you its new). Its not news its only news to WoW heads and they would already know the news as they love wow while the rest of the world could not give a damn.
This is a MMO news site.. they are here basically to give us the mmo news. Is it really that hard to understand why some people would like them to actually do that?

Thank you, Stradden, for not posting cannon fodder acticles about World of Warcraft. Sites dedicated to the game are plagued with them, so I'm sure many people appreciate the notable updates posted here along with more relevant MMO genre as a whole. We look forward to the review of the new changes after... you know, you actually play with it
I come to this site, and the featured article is about the lack of news from GW2. The 'best' news they could come up with is there is no news about an upcoming game that is probably more than 6 months away from release.
the GW2 article is not news -- its an editorial
I agree with you, mmorpg.com should be announcing todays changes in WOW
and mmorpg.com admin have already stated in your thread ... that they will be
Ok, so by far the largest MMORPG in the western world is implementing the biggest change to content ( ie about 4,000 new quests are being added today) along with drastically changed landscape in almost every zone in the game... all this is happening today.
I come to this site, and the featured article is about the lack of news from GW2. The 'best' news they could come up with is there is no news about an upcoming game that is probably more than 6 months away from release.
We don't care about an outdated EverQuest clone. It's not the first MMO to revamp all their newbie content. The game is six years old, it's simply not exciting for most anymore. It certainly wasn't for me, ever really. Where were threads during the EverQuest cataclysm, or the Trials of Atlantis in Dark Age of Camelot?
In terms of expansions, this one is small. Other games with 30 devs have released bigger expansions. It's really sad. Blizzard has like, 200 employees and they can only manage 2 races and revamping the old content? That's it? Oh boy, new quests, I'm sure they'll be just as boring as the thousands of other already mindless quests in the game.
Please speak for yourself and stop with the "we" crap. I'm not in the same boat as you are with your bitter outlook on WoW and the genre. I'm a older player that has preordered Cata, but I'm not playing right now. I also find it strange that you and some others here think that people like me eat, breathe and crap anything WoW. Which couldn't be further from the truth. I just happen to believe it's a damn fine mmo that has earned the respect of the industry for being a solid product.
I for one could careless about what you think the expansion contains and would like some input from someone without a chip on his (or her) shoulder. Preferably a professional who has experienced the beta. I also don't care what "others" have, will or plan to cover on their sites, magazines or blogs. Because THIS is the site I frequent. So this is the site I expect to cover all mmos no matter how big (WoW) or small (Minecraft) for me to find out the latest news. It's called supporting your base and this is my base, thank you.
P.S. Stradden I look foward on your coverage of the WoW pre-CATA patch and will be there to catch up on things I've missed while playing Perpetuum.

And I don't, as it hasn't done a single new or innovative thing since it's release. It's about as solid or innovative as Justin Beiber. In fact, its technoloy is more limited than most MMOs from the 90s were. How come we were doing 500 man battles/raids in old games, but WoW collapses at the mere thought of it?

While I normally agree with your posts, you obviously don't know as much about Cataclysm as you think you do. The revamping of the old content is not part of the expansion. It is being released today for free to anyone who owns the original version of the game. This expansion has the most raid content they've released with any other expansion. They finally added guild progression, a new profession, lots of new dungeons, and new starter zones. I agree the questing will be just as boring as before, but they are doing more than just adding 2 races and revamping old content.

I find it funny that the small minority that hate WOW think they run this site and all MMO-related information people. News flash folks: About 4-6 million people who live in the territories that this site is commonly viewed play WOW and enjoy WOW.
Er... if there's only about 2 million people in the US who play WoW then how do you figure there are 6 million on this site that want WoW news?
Americans and Europeans visit this site and probably some Asians too. More likely all over the world actually...Also, it doesn't have to do with how good the game is or what you think of it, it has to do that it's the most fucking popular MMO and for the writers' sake if they value this site then they should post some god damn news on it! And no, I don't play WoW.
The big banner is big advertisement lol. I also think they cover WoW enough there is no reason to treat it any better then any other MMO. Its a MMO and I think MMORPG gives it enough news.
Okay, all of you going on about same carrot on a stick? EvE expansions are the same carrot on a stick OHHH GOD I HAVE A NEW PLANET TO FLY AROUND I'M GOING TO PEE MY PANTS!!!! So get over yourself... A game has a formula that it was based off of you can't realy shake the whole thing expect people to be happy... Oh wait that has happaned SWG anyone?

Increasing the level cap and added a few new zones has always been the laziest route for an expansion to go. It's what sunk EverQuest, it's what killed many people's interest in LotRO. It's simply the least amount of effort you have to put forward, but what do you expect from a game that has so much instancing. So its more of the same, more linear raids, more linear dungeons, more boring quests? At least they added guild progression, a feature that's only been in the market for 6 years now. Maybe they can get with 1997 and add housing soon.

Seriously what do you expect a casual themepark game to bring in an expansion? Non-casual non-themepark features that would cause their player base to decline instead of grow?
Sadly GC has said in the past that WoW will never have player housing. They've changed their minds on other things, but I just don't see them budging on this one.
Expecting WoW to move away from instancing and the linear game design that has allowed it to grow and maintain over 12 million subs is about as realistic as expecting them to change to full looting or FFA PvP. It just ain't happening.

In fact, if I had to classify every gaming site I visit in this way:
