How the hell you can play a game that still uses auto target button mashing shite combat is beyond me. Does it not bore the shite out of you yet? What a shame that you think this site should focus on WOW when there are so many interesting new types of MMOs coming out (Guild Wars NOT being one of them!).
Actually most of the "MMO veterans" on this site are still hanging out for Ultima Online 2 far more than they are craving anything new in the MMO world. They hate WoW because it's too new, not because it's too old!

Yeah most would jump on a relaunch of UO original ... LOL lets all play farmville
WoW's cataclysm launch today pretty much told me exactly what the big news was. Que times for logging on to the server is something I haven't seen since WoW was peaking in the first year. That means there was a massive influx of accounts that re-upped or came back to the game and/or a lot of new subscriptions. Either way, they energized the MMO fanbase and were able to pull off launching about two weeks before they announced (on the anniversy of going live). That is impressive. It is THE news at MMORPG right now. Nothing else of interest will happen until next year.
I don't know about the rest of you but thus far I'm pretty underwealmed by the shattering . I know its too early to experiance all it has to offer but this isn't quite the improvement I had expected in the old lands. Its not all bad though some of the changes are quite nice . The mobs in the mid level instances are slighly harder but not to the point where they offer much challenge unfortunatly . Gonna try out some questing in a bit and see if thats been improved . I've seen a few posts about this being WoW 2.0 . It really does'nt feel like it to me unfortunatly it feels like old WoW with a facelift but the same old wrinkles underneath . I could be wrong but I'm getting the feeling this could be quite a dispointment for many people .

They didnt managed to launch it earlier, that is a big mistake. They simply changed the OLD world.
There are NO new zones 80-85, there are NO new zones 1-10, there are NO worgens, NO goblins, NO flying in azeroth, NO new dungeons, NO new raids, NO new cataclysm skills. Just the old world revamped.
Expansion is launched on 7 of December
But let me say this, Im loving the new world and the dungeon/quests changes. Im having alot of fun with my lvl 51 alt
Here everybody hates WoW. It's kewl to hate WoW so hop on the wagon. But truth is that they end up hating WoW more than they enjoy their little niche MMO which most likely has 10 people playing it.

I hate to ay this but, I'm getting the same feeling. Maybe I didn't explore many areas that have changed, but from my perspective, pretty much the same.

Agreed. I am having an absolute BLAST rolling "new" alts and seeing the "new" starting areas. Everything flows nice and smooth now, and rewards are better from quests and the MUSIC alone is fantastic. Nice to have FUN again in an MMO, sad that only Blizzard seems to get this and that they take forever to patch it lol. But still, better than any other game I've played in the last 6 years, fun wise.

One zone is all I have to say to this. AZSHARA. Roll a horde character up in Kalimdor and head their for your level 10-20 questing and you will be completely blown away. If not, then there is no hope for you. Heheh.

I did take a look at it with my main characters your right it is good but I though most of the rest of Azeroth would be effected in the same way this is ment to be a Cataclysm not a minor tremor . Its ment to be world changing not a fissure in the barrens or some rebuilding in Ogrimaar and SW . Maybe on the 7 th we will see the true extent of the changes but at the moment it look pretty much the same with a facelift . I've seen plenty of people calling this WoW 2.0 to me this is WoW 1.3 . Another 7 Xpacs like this we will get to WoW 2.0 . Sorry i don't want to troll but this is major disapointment so far .Still love the pvp though .
It's enough to browse through the suggestive "NEWS" titles mmorpg.com editors make that shows the general attitude towards the number one.
"5 ways Cataclysm would suck" (then followed by a so called in cheek humour that wasn't even funny, but referred to the 4-year olds playing "the thing").
"My account was hacked" article: thereby not even following the sites own rules of putting all those trolling posts into one global thread. Because frankly Blizzard 100's troll of posts stealing their own paswords was pathetic during several weeks.
"The end of Azeroth ... or the beginning?" was the last title added (quickly written to counter the OP's statement).
As much as the editors of this site want to support these typical mmorpg.com feelings against the number one ("that killed our old beloved games"), it shows an attitude they rarely make against other MMO's.
The problem is ... that you create an atmosphere that makes you stand at the border instead of the center of the MMO world.
And these last years I think a policy of supporting/hyping simply bad developped games and trash talking the number one isn't a very smart thing to do at all.
I play WoW, but I'm sorry, your view of the game community I find truely disturbing. The MMO world does NOT revolve around Blizzard or WoW like you think it does. And seriously, do you really need to post all the rabid fanboi comments, elitist remarks, and general baiting like this? This is the exact kind of post that gives everyone the bad impression of us WoW players. And if you think these boards are negative against WoW and not other games, well then you obviously haven't spent much time on the other game forums on this site. WoW is the golden child compared to how most are treated here.
The "golden child" is treated by an official rating of 81% on this site and placing it not even in the top 20..
While the complete and overall reviews on the web gives it a whopping 92.5 % and placing it around 10% higher than other Fantasy MMO's.
In fact not one other site of those professional reviews even comes close to that appalling low score the mmorpg.com website gives it to your "golden child".
Combine these scores with the attitude and choosing of words in even the headlines I mentioned above by EDITORS (not posters), I think we have a pretty good picture here about the overall attitude towards the "golden child".
Zorndorf ....you're back, recoginize your W0W cheerleading style no matter what the account name.
But you're correct, this site is still full of folks who don't believe having the most subs translates to something being the best MMORPG, but then you've known that for years and yet still you come back to the playground.
But I will agree, the WOW expansion deserves some press, though I will say, my son has been playing it and was hanging out in one of the battlegrounds because according to him, the changes just weren't that big of a deal.

Several of my guild are doing the same as your son . I'm trying to see what the depths of the changes are by questing . Am in Dustwallow Marsh as we speak which looks pretty much the same but with different mobs in it . I was hoping for a little more than Dinos being exchanged for undead spirits . Might hangfire on actually buying the Xpac and see the lay of the land first . I'm currently wondering the wisdom of revamping the old lands now . I was all for it but to get away with it you would really have to change them big style and thats not happened broadly speaking .
It is amusing to watch the flame baiting going over a game that possibly most of you have not played, and based your opinion on a few screen shots. Maybe even what you read, the game of Warcraft is nothing like the previous years and has been over hauled. Maybe you also ran out of free time, who knows what your reason is but it is sad that you will waste your time trolling wow, eq or what ever hate of the month you have.
To call it a EQ clone is kind of lame since, both have different mechanisms of play.
All mmo's are grind fests.. there is nothing innovative, but what is innovative is the simple fact that it has to hold your imagination in some way, community, game play or anything.
Blizz has done this without making 300k plus players abandoning ship aka swg.
Now before you decide I am a fan boy... I am a subscriber to SOE's games, TLORO and about 9 other games. Each has a unique stance in the game and yet none have reached the status of WoW Sub rate and stability...
I am still learning WoW 2 and am so far impressed with the initial game play.... and am waiting for the main course in December...
I have been in BETA since it started and trust me all you wow fans are in for a treat! True they did dumb it down even further but at least they make it interesting and the quests now make a lot more sence and the new graphics are stunning. Especially the new Stormwind! Between Cata and Starcraft 2 I have been a happy gamer for some time now. Still waiting for Rift though... oh and Diablo 3 ...

I took a look around Storrmwind it is quite nice but the changes your talking about essentially come down to a lake a destroyed barracks and a little rebuilding . The ivy effects on the buildings is also quite nice . But you get the feeling Deathing had a rested his paws on a the towers at the entrance had a couple of firey puffs and decided to let them off or maybe he had an asthma attack and went off to get this breath back .
