In a year or two this game will be as huge as EVE

or maybe even better. I subscribed to the game expecting nothing. But i am quite surprised and shocked at the quality of game. Yes its a MMO by indi devs but these guys are going to hit it big time. For now all they have to do is build player base steadily and spend more resources on adveritisng (when they can afford it) like CCP does.

One thing i know for sure that devs love their game a lot and its just going to get better with time.

Who could have thought that WOW could bring super power like USA to its knees?

Im picking on WoW btw because its the beast that made all of this possible

This is an awesome game that has come from nowhere.

    I recommend you try this.

    If you haven't already.

I'm not expecting it to get as big as EVE (although I hope it will), but I know it'll grow quite nicely. I'm just glad to be here from the start :)

We're already in the process of implementing Moneybookers support and
in negotiations for direct credit card support.
We ask for your patience until we've succeeded with the aforementioned procedure.

One of the things that I have really been impressed with is the DEV and GM presence.  Any time someone has a problem, (And I am talking about an actual problem, not the how do I... sort), they are on it quickly.

Admittedly, they are having a bit of an issue right as I type this getting their EP issue sorted out, but given how fast they are on it and how high a priority they've given to fixing issues, I don't see it as a real problem.

On top of all that, getting the client for free and just having to pay the (very reasonable) $9.95 a month is a great tactic on their part.  I can think of more than one game where I bought the game, and wished I could get my $60-70 back before the first week was up, let alone the free month of playtime.

I agree. The game is fun, looks good, plays well, dev and gm presence and interaction is far above par. Can't wait to see the game grow over the next year and beyond.

Hope it does well, i played a bit in beta, was not my kind of game.

Seemed kind of slow paced to me from the little i played. And i am  not a huge fan of the gain skills over real life time like this game and eve has. Nor to all the menu driven skills and such. But, again maybe i just did not learn enough of game to find quicker ways to do things.:)

All that said though, only crashed once during my time in game and had no noticable lag or any other problems. So for yall that enjoy it, good for you, and have fun, thats what gaming is all about.

Do any of the original EVE players remember how big their player base was at launch?  I wasn't at EVE's launch but I thought I remembered players saying they had around a thousand players or so at launch.

Personally I don't know or care if it gets to EvE's numbers. I just want the devs to focus on keeping a solid game solid. No need to go chasin after some phantom number and catering to a crowd other than the one that appreciates the game for what it is: A solid ground-based Sci-fi mmorpg

I'm happy just taking my time and hunting down drones while improving my arsenal/extensions and soon I'll be joining a military corps and remoting a freakin huge mech so I can get into a little PvP action.

I remeber briefly browsing over this game and quickly shunned it off so i need some backup on this claim to being a good game.

Explain it's RPG aspects, show me some in game footage/videos.What do you do in game besides  pilot a ship and blow things up?All very important things, otherwise everyoen and anyone is shelling out cheap single player games and calling them MMO's just becuase they use the internet.

planet exploration?landing on planets?crafting/building tech to equip ships?realistic player not some cheap Eve like Avatar? Is there quests and if so any fun or same old?Do players have to eat in this game or like other games are they magically surviving with no food?what happens if your ship is blown up?is there cool things to addon  ships that are visible?toooooooo many questions, just like Eve wasn't able to pull off, this type of game is the hardest to pull off, much harder than a Fantasy game.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

Uhm, you're on a planet piloting a mech, not flying spaceships. Go find out more for yourself: http://www.perpetuum-online.com/

Imo if this game goes up, EVE is going down at least a bit.

There isn't than many ppl interested in sci-fi FFA full loot pvp & right now EVE has the market covered.

There'll be ER too coming up too... hopefully.

I doubt EVE will be touched population-wise.  There are plenty of ex-EVE players like myself who got tired of EVE and are waiting for the next big thing.

I just bought the 4 day trial, it's like 3.50 US, so I figured I had two options: I could buy overhyped coffee brewed by some pimple-faced emo kid wearing a green visor and apron who thinks referring to cup sizes in Italian makes him "cultured", or play this brand spanking new, player-driven MMO for the next four days. The choice was obvious...

So I just played a couple of hours and I cannot wait to dive in this weekend for a more thorough gaming session. First off: great launch day for an indie dev team. The two hours I played, everything was very smooth, no lag, no glitches, no disconnections. I'm really excited for this game and the prospect of being here from day one. I'm sure there will be more player reviews popping up in the next few days, I'll try to post one myself after playing this weekend.

But seriously guys, if you're a fan of complex MMO's, with player driven economy and politics, 3-4 bucks for a 4-day trial is a no-brainer, and if you like it, 10 bucks for a month. I'm really rooting for this game and the dev team, I can see a lot fun to be had!

Guys, question; I did 'some' digging on this game, but I prefer player responses. Is it worth buying? I'm open for any MMORPG; I don't mind sandbox/theme park, as long as it works. On paper, EVE is very exciting, I just can't get in to it. Is this game filling up those gaps?

Whether the product is worth for you is only up to you, it is subjective. Some likes the game, some don't - for the very same reasons.

It could. ill admit Perpetuum's release is much better than EvEs was.

All in all if perpetuum did break out and got popular as EvE that would be a good thing.

We could use another popular sandbox.

Sadly I wouldnt get my hopes up. Ryzom is a fantastic game and never caught on, Fallen earth and Darkfall are good and havent caught on.

Its just tough to say what sandbox will do what when a game has such a small niche its catering too.

Am I being mass trolled? I've never heard of the game but for a MMORPG on MMORPG.com to be this well received by just about every poster in a thread just NEVER happens. WTF IS THIS WORLD COMING TO!

Because fundamentally nothing is wrong with Perpetuum. it handles its basic features very well and appeals to a certain type of player. When people try it if they decide not to stay it isnt because the game is broken its because they arent really into the type of options that game has.

If you look at other games that released people hated them because they were fundamentally broken, AoC with no endgame and polished passed level 20, Wars failure to achieve client stability and a solid endgame ,Aion and its horrific grind passed 35, CoH & STO with abysmal content and bugs, Darkfall with its macroing and hacks, Mortal online with its broken gameplay and stability issues, Fallen earth and its confused pvp mechanic and identy crisis...

I can go on and on... you wont find any of those problems in PO.

Great game... big Battletech fan from back in the day so this one immediately caught my eye.  I have been very impressed so far.  And you can't beat the cost!
