Well it does look decent. It is however so much like EVE in so many ways...I do not see it taking EVE players away from EVE. Might take a few, but not many. Game is still in diapers, lets say. One thing that bothers me the most is once again...their is no human element. That is EVE's biggest problem in my opinion. No human avatar to connect with. Without it I feel like I am playing a simple Shoot-em up big frakking robot game instead of a shoot-em up big frikking space ship game. Underneath the hood there is really no difference. In fact they share so much in common, art style, UI is similar in many ways, even the way you gain EXP is the same. Seriously...what is the difference? EVE is about BFS's and Perpetuum is about BFR's. ::sigh::
I do wish the developers luck and I hope they around in a couple of years. If they can do it, that gives hope to other Indie developers that they too can succeed.
In its present form Perpetuum is solid, its well worth investing time in if you dig the EVE, original SWG, UO, EQ1 type sandbox game. If you chase exclamation points or question marks and dings and mini dings-its quite simply not the game for you.
For me? I cant wait to log back on tonight!
This game is nothing like SWG, UO or EQ1...nothing like these games at all. So why did you mention EQ1 as a sandbox, EQ one was the first them park game. There was no sandbox to EQ. SWG and UO were sandbox games, and even then there was room to grow in that area for both these games. So no - Perpetuum is nothing like SWG, UO nor EQ. It is EVE wrapped up in different wrapping paper is all.
I think this is the first mmo launched in 2010 that didn't have people spitting soda out their noses and screaming "what the hell is this? where's all the stuff from videos? do you give refunds?".
Glad to hear it's still possible.

This is definitely the first mmorpg since Darkfall that has my complete attention and motivation to play it!
I do not promote trash!
I predict this game will do very well. it has great foundational peices that work and they can build on (unlike a sandbox game like Mortal Online where the fundamental peices were completly broken at launch..).
And its only 10 bucks. Thats the kicker folks. 10 bucks.
No bullshit pre-order SCAMS selling unfinished product, no cheap minature figures, no empty books or gay ass map posters. No fillers to make up for uncompleted software. Game works. Not 50 dollars. 10.
These guys get it.....

Couldnt agree with you more, this is a belter. The daily ever increasing population is proof of that. The introduction of new content and game enhancements and development will mean the game will only get better!
Back on topic, Perpetuum is a shit ton better than EvE was at release. Love the comparisons to EvE currently, non event. Let Perpetuum get the same time under its belt for a balanced comparison. Perpetuum is far more dynamic.
Let's hope so. The MMORPG market needs more games with alternatives to the standard EQ/WOW model that the larger companies tend to focus on for the most part.
I'll probably give it a go once it gets a little more established and past its early growing pains.

That's just it. Where are the growing pains? The game is fully functional and ready to go. They're going to add features, and there's no reason to think that the expanded features they add won't be added as smoothly as the launched game.
They're going to grow, if for no other reason than the game actually works.
I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.

I'm just a skeptic, I now take the approach that all games at launch suffer from growing pains, and stabilize and become more what they should be around 3-12 months out. Maybe this one is an exception.
Besides, I'm busy with Fallen Earth and Dragon Age Ultimate Edition.

I hate mechanoids and robot games.
