It's funny how all the single player RPGs are sandbox now, yet the genre that started sandbox games, isn't sandbox anymore.
Serious death penalties makes every close call an adrenaline rush, and every minor achievement a major victory. This alternative rule-set should be in all MMORPGs.
I'll be more (or less) excited when I see some ingame visuals/footage. If they are still using the Gamebryo engine then ehhhhh not so super excited. It will still be on my list of games for next year, but not that high up on the list. The Gamebryo enigine is starting to show its age and feel a little outdated.

That is not true, Dragon age 2 is releasing as well.
And sandboxes didn't start with UO, UO was a multiplayer version of the older Ultima games. San dboxes started out on Amiga and Atari already long before people had the net home.
But it is interesting that sandboxes is so more popular for single player games....
(arguably the 3 best fantasy RPGs series currently on the market)
Yeah, Elder scrolls 2 is one of the best single player RPGs ever and the best so far. It released in 1996 and was called Daggerfall. You are talking about Elder scroll 5.
Kinda disappointed with the plot story so far. I know its too early to tell for sure but it just seems too generic - ancient evil (being dragons lately) vs. the special one. Hope I'm wrong.
It will use Gambryo engine slightly enhanced. Such is the legacy of having multiplatform games for console and PC.
Should do it like MMO's that use all the power available on the modern PC's.
For example
Then the games would look and play like shit on consoles and Bethesda will be blasted by every critic. It's better to optimize for console and then allow higher resolutions with PC and mod tools for the community.

Yeah except for the elder scrolls series which bring real quality to a genre lately been bombardised by fail rpg's.
