I'm hoping to compile thoughts and opinions of Xsyon from those of you who are playing or have played the game. I know there are people still on the fence (myself included) on whether to buy this game or not so it would be helpful to get as much input as possible. So with that, I'd like to know:
1) How long do you see yourself playing this game?
2) What are the pros/cons of Xsyon as you see them?
3) How much potential do you see with Xsyon?
4) Anything you'd like to add.
Thanks and I look forward to reading your input.

Comments
1) Not sure, but I'm sure the time I play will be measured will be in years.
2) Pros: Real sandbox, feature set (read the features page), dev sticking to vision
Cons: Not the best graphics, animations, polish and guessing slow development time
3) Vast potential. It is setting up for some real long term growth. A real living breathing world that is not static but changes. How it changes will be decided by the players.
4) I'm only two play sessions in so cannot really add more.
Very nice, sounds like you're hooked.
One thing I've wondered about is what the dev team has planned after launch. Are they planning on hiring more devs? I've seen their long-term feature list but I'm wondering how they're planning on getting there.

1. not sure I have high hopes but it depends how meta-game will develop.
2. pros: real ansdbox, totally player driven world.
cons: well totally player driven world we can ruin it as well.
3. potential is huge we have a lot of ways to develop the world differently, and Jooky has lots plans for new features
4. No matter what we say, if you buy it you'll probably say "hmm, I imagined it differently" I've never played game like this and always been looking for it. For now we can only speculate how gameplay will look like when the game goes live.
Yes, from what I heard Jooky might be hireing soon after launch.
From everything I have read, money does not seem to be the games primary focus, or the largest playerbase, but to stick to a vision.... We can hope
Core i5 13600KF, BeQuiet Pure Loop FX 360, 32gb DDR5-6000 XPG, WD SN850 NVMe ,PNY 3090 XLR8, Asus Prime Z790-A, Lian-Li O11 PCMR case (limited ed 1045/2000), 32" LG Ultragear 4k Monitor, Logitech G560 LightSync Sound, Razer Deathadder V2 and Razer Blackwidow V3 Keyboard
That's very good news. From what I've read and understand, he's kind of a coding god but he's getting tired because he's working so hard (sounds like the whole team is). They're going to need help because working that hard catches up with you in the end.

That's a good thing but they obviously could use more help. One thing that's bothered me about MMO companies in the past is they just slowed down or even gave up after launch, a money grab if you will. From what I've seen, especially with the two free months, it won't happen here because this project came out of love for the genre, not money. Let's hope the game progesses instead of digresses like most other titles out there.

1) How long do you see yourself playing this game?
Honestly, not very long. Virtual worlds without direction usually don't grab me. I'm not a out and spend days in the wilderness type of guy in RL, so why would I do it in a game? Not that it's a bad game for offering that, kudos to those who enjoy that type of "game", but I need more escapism not reminders of RL, lol if that makes any sense.
2) What are the pros/cons of Xsyon as you see them?
Pros - sandbox, do what you want, how you want, when you want, music is nice.
Cons - not enough "game" too much world simulation. Graphics and controls feel very old, like pre 2004.
3) How much potential do you see with Xsyon?
Potential is very high, but nor for my playstyle. For those who like this playstyle though, I see it being what they are looking for.
4) Anything you'd like to add.
Xsyon interested me enough to buy it and try it but not enough to hook me or keep me as my tastes bend more toward FFXI/Vanguard/WoW/Rift/GW2/SWTOR type games.
I hope it does well though for those who like this type of game, as it will give them a place to call home for hopefully a long time and to help ease the negativity in this genre of late ;D
this is a great review for a lot of people. very honest impression of what I think most people will feel who buy this game without reading between the fanboi's lines.
I appreciate the input from everyone but notice his gaming interests, they're themepark. I'm more interested in feedback from people who actually like sandbox games because that's what I prefer. Obviously, themepark players are going to pretty much hate this game, I get that.

I would like to add:
Games are a lot like music. You can get a general idea of what type of music it is from reading the description and maybe talking to a few listeners but after getting the 'basic type' down the only way to find out if you are going to like the band is to get a sample. In the case of games the only real way is to try a demo or in this case spend the $40.
For me its easier because there is usually only about 1 game per year that comes out that I am even remotely intrested in so the expense to risk is very more about the time learning the game than it is the cost.
Please do not respond to me, even if I ask you a question, its rhetorical.
Please do not respond to me
I hear ya, and normally I would've already taken the dive but like I've said before, it's an $80 investment for me, not $40 (promised a friend I'd get the game for him if I did). I'm just trying to gather as much information as possible before I take the plunge.

Then you are only going to receive rose colored opinions to be honest. Besides, FFXI and VG have sandbox elements and I do play Darkfall, Eve and now Earthrise for a quick sandbox fix now and again, so my opinion isn't totally coming from themeparks. Matter of fact, I'm a hybrid fan. Themepark/sandbox hybrids to me are the future and I was hoping Xsyon might have had that. It doesn't and that's ok, I don't regret buying the game as I like to help support the genre and indy developers.
That's not neccessesarily true, I think sandbox gamers are more honest than themepark gamers when it comes to judging sandbox games. I don't say that to put others down but I just think the sandbox gamers include old timers like myself who are from a different era and understand things differently. Our ultimate goals are not to become the most uberest dood with the leetest gear, we want a fun sandbox game to roam around and live in. It's just different playstyles and personalities.
Now see, when you say that your style includes games like Rift, I can't put much stock into your input about Xsyon. I found Rift to be an absolute borefest, I made it only 15 minutes into beta 2 and then uninstalled. I thought it was absolutely horrible.
So if I was looking for input about themeparks I'd certainly want your input more than someone who plays sandbox games, and vice versa. Nothing personal, it's just a difference in playstyles and interpretation of certain games.

Music is nice???..it's only a Main theme while loggin in.So there is not music ingame right now
Gah, ok thanks for all the input guys, I've decided to take the plunge for me and a friend. Here goes nothin'...or at least an $80 nothin'.

As concerned as you have been the past few days, about the value vs the 80 bucks for 2 copies, I am very interested in hearing your thoguths on the game if you beat me to the login
1) Forever
2 Con: PVP, Pro: Anything else
3 Very very very much
4) Oliver Kahn is the best goalkeeper ever
Hehe! I'm sure I won't be as overwhelmed as my friend will be, he's a crafting fiend so he was very happy when I called him just now. As for me, I'm more into combat etc. so it's going to be awhile before I can really get into the game but I see so much promise with this game that I figured I'd give it a shot. Besides, I'd much rather throw money at developers like this than support all the garbage games coming out lately.
I'll probably be on later tonight but if not tomorrow so you'll probably beat me.

Fritz I have a bone of contention with your point 4. The only person who would ever think that is Olie Kahn himself.......(Gasp!) Are you Olie Khan??? Me= Sorry!;)
To the o.p Via con dios and bonne chance. it's threads like this that are helping me make my mind up about buying this game myself.
Almost every German footballfan thinks that Oliver Kahn is the best goalkeeper ever, because it is true.
Well to answer the first 3 questions in a bit longer way:
1) The game seems to be a real sandboxgame and it seems to keep its promises. So i think i will play it very long.
2) The biggest con is the pvp and its system in my opinion. I hope that allignment will be improved to prevent the world of getting a carebear paradise. I have to say, that im a carebear, but i want the thrill of the possibility of getting killed during carebearing. The PVP will be improved by the developers in the near future, so its not a major concern of mine.
3) The potential of this game is nearly endless.
Awesome, glad I could help. I know for myself, I have a hard time buying any MMOs without serious research first. I've been burned so many times it's sickening. But hey, when is the last time us sandbox lovers had a chance to play a game like this with so much potential? I think for diehard sandbox fans this is one we should at least seriously consider supporting. I really don't like the direction MMOs have taken over the last 10 or so years so I'm glad to support dev teams trying to do something old school and different.
I have no idea if I'll play past the first two months but if not, it will have been worth the investment I think. Just knowing that I helped support a dev team willing to go out on a limb will be worth it for me.
LONG LIVE THE SANDBOX!

More devs will be acquired as soon as possible.
I guess I'm in the middle of the road when it comes to FFA PvP. On the one hand, I too enjoy the thrill and excitement of possible PvP, having to watch your every move is a blast.
On the other hand, I can't stand a-hats who just want to ruin the fun for everyone else. But, Jooky has said that griefing is not allowed and the game will be structured around that, and that works for me. I just can't wait to see how the Tribe wars develop over time, should be interesting.
