I'm hoping to compile thoughts and opinions of Xsyon from those of you who are playing or have played the game. I know there are people still on the fence (myself included) on whether to buy this game or not so it would be helpful to get as much input as possible. So with that, I'd like to know:
1) How long do you see yourself playing this game?
2) What are the pros/cons of Xsyon as you see them?
3) How much potential do you see with Xsyon?
4) Anything you'd like to add.

Awesome, glad I could help. I know for myself, I have a hard time buying any MMOs without serious research first. I've been burned so many times it's sickening. But hey, when is the last time us sandbox lovers had a chance to play a game like this with so much potential? I think for diehard sandbox fans this is one we should at least seriously consider supporting. I really don't like the direction MMOs have taken over the last 10 or so years so I'm glad to support dev teams trying to do something old school and different.
I have no idea if I'll play past the first two months but if not, it will have been worth the investment I think. Just knowing that I helped support a dev team willing to go out on a limb will be worth it for me.

Honestly, not very long. Virtual worlds without direction usually don't grab me. I'm not a out and spend days in the wilderness type of guy in RL, so why would I do it in a game? Not that it's a bad game for offering that, kudos to those who enjoy that type of "game", but I need more escapism not reminders of RL, lol if that makes any sense.
2) What are the pros/cons of Xsyon as you see them?
Pros - sandbox, do what you want, how you want, when you want, music is nice.
Cons - not enough "game" too much world simulation. Graphics and controls feel very old, like pre 2004.
3) How much potential do you see with Xsyon?
Potential is very high, but nor for my playstyle. For those who like this playstyle though, I see it being what they are looking for.
4) Anything you'd like to add.
Xsyon interested me enough to buy it and try it but not enough to hook me or keep me as my tastes bend more toward FFXI/Vanguard/WoW/Rift/GW2/SWTOR type games.
I hope it does well though for those who like this type of game, as it will give them a place to call home for hopefully a long time and to help ease the negativity in this genre of late ;D

As for me, I'm more into combat etc. so it's going to be awhile before I can really get into the game but I see so much promise with this game that I figured I'd give it a shot. I am still debating on if I want to join a tribe or start one but one thing I know for sure I think I want to find/create a tribe focused on trading and trade routes.

I'm going to spend this next week learning the game and deciding what to do about that later on. I think that exactly what you say will happen though, perhaps the outposts will be linked with roads and protected by Tribe alliances through negotiating trade deals?

Hehe, I'm hoping the download speeds have been fixed although I read it was the updating old versions that was taking longer because it was removing some outdated files (I think that might be fixed now). I think fresh download speeds are pretty good but I'll find out later.
As a bonus, I just happen to have a vacation coming up on the week of the 20th lol (not planned either haha), can't wait.

sure, its a sandbox, and you can pretty much do what you want, when you want.
Problem is, you will look really bad while doing it.
The character creation options are utter garbage, no matter what you do, either male or female, your character is going to look shite.
In game, everything looks bad, really bad.
Five years ago, games that looked 100% better than this were being slated for the crap graphics.
Yes, they have made a really good sandbox MMO, the system's working behind the graphics are awesome, but it is really hard to notice it when confronted with the garbage that are the visuals of this MMO.
In all honesty, if you do not care what the game looks like and you want a sandbox, great, this game is for you, if you want a sandbox with decent graphics, forget it.

We need people to guard traders, scout for hunting parties, monitor enemy movements.
We probably won't be small we have over 90 registered members over past year and we're expecting 30+ members at launch.
