Ah yes, that one. I must say that I agree with most of what TB says, and I completely disagree with most of what "Dave" said. In my opinion he sounded as if he's working for Trions marketing team.
Same. He's more honest. Just posting because there is so much confusion and hype surrounding this game. He just plays the game and people can see what it's like for themselves.
Normally i like tb in wow videos but in the RIFT video he sounds from the start on kinda emo/dissaspointed/mad so it didnt suprise me that he was talking negative all the way.
He makes points I agree with, and he feels how I do. He says it s a WOW clone(I agree) but a good one (I agree). This is why I don t really want to play it.

Meaning it also looks like WoW, so his point is valid.
All Spanish music sounds the same. Well, I guess if one isn't familiar with Spanish music, it might. The more familiar you are with it, the more distinction there is between the songs and the sub-benres of the music. If a person played Daddy Yankee and Ivy Queen back to back, there would be people that would say they both sound like every other song they've hear, people that say they're both distinctly Reggaeton and people that would be able to pick out both artists... probably down to the years of the recordings.
tl;dr version The more familiar someone is with MMOs, the less similar each of these UIs look, however everyone agrees tehre is a definite theme that runs across the genre. The less familair they are, the more they all simply look almost exactly the same.

It's a review, noone is going to agree or disagree 100% with someone elses because we all come at things from different perspectives, but there are a lot of people going into rift who will look at it the way TB does. Tbf he also makes it clear he wouldn't have reviewed it if he had been requested so much to do so, as such he bound to have a fairly negative view point.
As for the UI thing he did say WoW the first time but he did also say that the WoW UI itself was a rip off as well, he went onto explain he was looking at it more as a hotkey UI/game which he was trying to move away from.
They make a very valid point in the discussion, in that Rift it blatantly looking to attract the WoW crowd by giving a similar experience but trying to appease some of the more vocal additions or ammendments requested by those gamers. This will work well for some players and not so well for others. The guy he's talking to is basically looking to play another improved (in his opinion, at least in certain key areas) version of WoW, players of that mindset will welcome Rift and there are probably many of them. Others will lookat Rift and see such similarities between the games that they feel there is little point to going through the game again. More still will be looking for something completely different from WoW.

Good post, that was pretty much my take on the video as well.
Though I would like to point out that this video is part of his "WTF is?" series, which is and I quote from the video description:
"Please note that "WTF is?" is a first impressions series. It is not a review and should never be misconstrued as one. It is my honest opinions, presented live, while playing. That is it, nothing more, nothing less."
Didn't check it out after personal dealings with TB. Guy is a bit of an egotistical douche.
Butthurt haters gonna hate?
Couple of things to note folks.
1) It's not a review, it's a first impressions video combined with a discussion with a veteran player, aimed at informing people about what to expect
2) Watching the first 10 minutes of it and then judging the video that way is a fairly silly thing to do because that's not where the meat of the information lies.
If you know about TB, you know him from his WoW stuff since his 'Azeroth Daily' is his most watched show on his channel.
To expect Rift to not be compared to WoW is just mind-blowingly dumb. Heck, even the DEVS uses WoW for marketing with the whole 'you are not in Azeroth anymore'.
How can you not compare WoW to this game when the devs themselves do?
I agreed on a lot of his points since he is coming from the 'long time WoW player' perspective which I also am.
Gdemami - Informing people about your thoughts and impressions is not a review, it's a blog.
Let me tell you something, i don't play RIFT atm i only played in a few BETAS. And i had some kind of respect for that guy because of his WoW videos. But it's kind of ridiculous to call a game a WoW-clone because it has an UI and HOTKEYS... this is one of the silliest comments i've seen.
Perhaps rather than being rude and unhelpful you could explain to him how to do the thing you requested of him.

Yeah that's what hit me too. I agree that Rift tries to recreate some WoW experience in some areas of the game but calling game WoW clone and base it on UI... Well I had a good laugh at this point.

Did you actually watch the video or are you just basing this assumption on hearsay? I'm interested to know this, because that's not what I actually said.
Even the veteran Rift player agreed that it's a WoW clone in almost all respects and let's not pretend that WoW is just a 'clone' of Everquest, it's not. It's derirative of several different games. Most of what Rift is, is taken wholecloth from WoW and then they added in the Rifts mechanic which is similar to Warhammer (to the point where the designer of it is actually from Mythic).
Major, noticeable parts in which it clones WoW
1) The UI, down to the placement of the minimap, unitframes, action bars, chat system, micromenu, bag interface, all identical
2) The combat system. Feels exactly like WoW, which it is, with the exception of the reactive abilities.
3) The talents and abilities, the vast majority of these are taken from WoW wholecloth, to the point where the pyromancer tree is identical in most respects and even Fireblast (Flame bolt) has the exact same cooldown.
4) Questing, pretty much all early TBC/late vanilla level of complexity and variety sadly.
Aside from the questing, is any of that a bad thing? No, why would cloning the best MMO on the market be inherently bad? Denying that it has cloned WoW in many different respects though is delusional, nor is "WoW clone" a term with a stigma attached to it.

You don't really seem to have watched the entire video. If you instantly stop watching a video when he makes ONE comparison between the two games, well, then you're just being ridiculous. Also, it seems that there are quite some people out there firing all their rage whenever they hear someone calling Rift a WoW-clone.

They only rage because Rift is a decent game. How would you like to buy a Porsche and have people call it a Pinto clone?

Sorry but you did start the video saying it's a WoW-clone and saying the game have HOTKEYS and a similar UI. So it seems that for you, all the games that have an UI similiar to WoW or HOTKEYS are clones... nice one. And no im not even a RIFT fan in fact i agree with most of the things you said in the video.

Forget it. Any attempt at having a conversation with these overzealous fanboys will lead to nothing else than flaming. They watch maybe five minutes of the video before they turn into omniscient beings that can predict the rest of the video, hence why all the hate is based on people not watching it all the way to the end.
I, on the other hand, actually watched the whole video, and while I don't agree with every single thing you said, it doesn't really matter since it wasn't a review I was watching, it was a WTF video.

I was gonna make a Rift account to apply to this thread, but TB is always cool. Although I am digging Rift.
P.S. Seriously, what is it with this wave of new accounts to forum PvP over Rift, cowgirl up and use your real account...
Plz learn how to make links on forums.... ¬¬
