Why no X-Wing/TIE Fighter? I will say the videos coming out of PAX have been good and far better than the older ones, even if they are indicative of WoW with lightsabers.

    Currently Playing: Perpetuum
MMOs Played (most time spent to least): World of Warcraft (BG/Open world PvP focused), Lord of the Rings Online (PvMP focused), Warhammer Online (BG PvP focused), Global Agenda, Age of Conan, DC Universe Online (PvP focused), Runes of Magic, Allods, Aion, Fallen Earth

well for me they announced the game too early and now its been too long and i just lost interest.  i cant keep up with weekly updates on a game forever.  plus the more they release about the game the more  i get the feeling that the game is gonna turn into a endless gear grind endgame just like wow and i dont have time for all that crap.  but to me the main reason is they announced the game too early and they wasnt ready for release.  if they would of released september of last year that wouldve been the perfect time, but the game wasnt ready but had been hyped for around a year by that time, that is too long.

Dragon Age 2 is crap, Mass Effect 2 is just good game nothing briliant. Bioware is never listening to community, there is just a few guys who thinks they know best what ppl wants. Thats why their new games are brainless console action crap games for ppl without ambition.

And thats why Star Wars mmo will probably fail or will keep going with few hundred thousand fanboys subsribed, who will never admit that this game sucks.

I have been out of the MMO circut for a few years. I have been seeing alot about this game.I have been reading alot on it and it seems the official forums has a ton of ticked off people? Not sure I want to play a game where the players are so Irate about a video game.

This one guy bragging about how he and the other forum people ran of the SWG/WOW players in 2009? that just speaks voulumes to me about the community.

The game looks like an ok game so if the community can be avoided somehow I would try it.

Guaranteed the people that lose interest will be crawling back once the release date is announced.

The wait has been long, and for some, impatience would seem to have morphed into anger.

Delusions of grandeur this would be SWG's replacement, only to be shattered as information trickles out.

What? I have some hard problem seeing Han and Chewie as healers....

The trinity thing is the thing I like least with TOR, it is against the lore of the Star wars IP. I never seen any combt healing in any of the movies, not even the ones with Jar jar in them.

It just don't fit my view of Star wars. And there are ways to handle combat without any combat heals.

If a smuggler can heal, why did Luke get a cyber hand?

Of course I feel the same about LOTRO, but at least they try to hide it a little more. Healing is fine if it is in the lore and I could buy some kind of sci fi health pot with nano bots in as well.

And you can do a lot of things with the force, probably heal as well but I doubt you can in mid combat, and even if you can it would be a rare gift, not something every group af adventurers have access to.

Didn't Han bandage Leia's arm, at the shield generator bunker on Endor, under fire?  It's been an eternity since I've seen Return of the Jedi...

Bioware is not trying to make a movie or a book here, but a game. If everything would work just like in some movie and every class would be a copy of some iconic movie equivalent character of supposedly same "class", this game would turn out to be crap, narrow in gameplay etc, no mobs spawning and the worlds would be empty after "cleared", chars perma dying etc etc it's a game not a movie, get a grip whiners.

I guess you hate every Star Wars game because you can heal in them etc. Force Unleashed is the worst of them all since after you kill something small green orbs fly to you and you gain health OMG! NOT LIKE IN THE MOVIES.

Jar Jar Binks killed the franchise.

"Zeschuk said: "It [World of Warcraft] is a touchstone."

That's what killed it for me.

    In context

"Zeschuk said: "It [World of Warcraft] is a touchstone. It has established standards, it's established how you play an MMO. Every MMO that comes out, I play and look at it. And if they break any of the WoW rules, in my book that's pretty dumb."

The game looks more like an animated series, they overstep lore in some instances to make it more appealing to children, and the comments by the future players on the main SWTOR website are rather disappointing.

I'm tired of seeing new screenshots and reading through swathes of comments below, such as, "Ohmigawds I bet she is thinking of jumping all the way over dere and killing that bh! Jedi are teh win!" or any of the various "Come join our guild, the dark jedai council of doom,  we are going to kill all of the good jedais." etc etc.

Not to mention the trailer today showed a Jedi killing a pack of female Tuskens(edit: Poorly modeled Male tuskens that look like females with male headgear) who were running around shooting rifles and weilding giant oversized gaffi sticks. What's next? Evil Jawas with lightsabers?

This wait is my hope that once it is released it will not be yet another EA WoW Clone. Them saying 2011 release makes me sad.

Massive free-for-all Star Wars experience throughout space versus scripted KIOTOR rerun with a few MMO trappings added on.

When I first heard about this game I salivated with anticipation - now I'm so completely bored with it I'm certain I won't sub.

    That is my opinion.

I can feel your anger. This game is defenseless. Take your weapon. Strike this game down with all of your hatred, and your journey towards towards the Dark Side will be complete.

Id like to actually take on the trinity part of star wars and not seeing any healers in the movies. Sure u dont see any healers in movies but in the star wars expanded universe healer jedi exist. Smugglers can patch people up and so forth.

While they showed off a smuggler healing class its not the norm. it was a class begged for by people in beta. Its one path a smuggler can take in one of there 2 trees. So its basicly a 1 out of 4 possible patsh a smuggler can take is healer. The other 3 are alll damage dealers.

that said anyone who has kept up with the expanded universe knows all about jedi healing trances and jedi healers like clligihal a mon cal healer in the jedi order run by luke skywalker. So to say healers messes up star wars ccanon is funny. Ift seems most people who say this never read anything after the movies ended.

They see the star wars universe as the movies only not the  hundreds of books and grapic novels produced. Which makes no sense. Star wars has healers bioware isnt killing off some huge no no and going against everything star wars here.

I find the majority of anti star wars old republic stuff comes from guys claiming gw 2 is gonna revolutionize the genre or people who wanted a galaxies clone. Sorry but its not gonna be a galzies clone and as for gw 2 the graphics for tor have been rraved about by anyone actually having a hands on. So gw 2 graphics arent be all end all while tors are bottom feeders either despite wha tu say.

I am guessing the part about Jedi healers in the expanded universe is directed partly at me. Yes I have read a lot of the books, at least all the way up to the 25-40 years after a new hope in the time line (I got bored and lost interest after that). So I do know about the Mon Cal healer from the Jedi Academy trilogy. She was nothing like a healer in a MMO though, so I am not sure how you are saying that makes it all right to turn Jedi into clerics that go I heal, I heal, I heal.

Of course this is just my personal opinion but the moment I see a Jedi going I heal, I heal, I heal will be the moment the game loses the ability to be called Star Wars. And yes I know, games have mechanics in them that has nothing to do with Star Wars, IE the Force Unleashed game talked about above. It is just the fact I do not agree with the trinity being in Star Wars, I cannot stand the fact that Jedi can be turned into a lame retarded healer that does I heal, I heal, I heal, I heal. Of course like I said this is just my opinion, Bioware can do whatever they want to the game, I just will not play it after I see one Jedi doing that.
