I just got an email saying my data was one of many that was stolen...fantastic..
I am betting that we all will before it's over with. I got it as well, but for only one of my 2 accounts. Can't even tell which one actually, but they have the same info so it doesn't matter. I can't change my name.....oh maybe everyone can get a free legal name change from a class action suit.... should I go with my rapper nickname Duke E Fresh or my menstrual themed country singer persona, Clint Tampon?

Good to know that my bank is fully aware of it and sent me an email (edited for safety reasons):
Dear Mr. (me):
I'd be happy to assist you with your inquiry concerning the security breach with the Playstation Network.
We appreciate your concern for the security of your (my bank) credit card in regards to the recent security breach of SONY's online PlayStation and music subscription network.
Rest assured that SONY, Visa and MasterCard are working to investigate this breach and ensure appropriate security measures necessary to guarantee the security of all (my bank) Credit Card accounts while minimizing any inconvenience to our clients.
(my bank) has sophisticated fraud-detection systems that work around the clock to monitor account and credit card activity, shutting down attempts to make unauthorized transactions.
It's important to know that although the security has been breached, it does not mean fraudulent activity will take place. You will be contacted if you need to take any action. As a (my bank) cardholder, you are protected with Visa and MasterCard's Zero Liability policy. This means you do not pay for any fraudulent charges or purchases.
Additionally -- as with any security breach situation -- Visa notifies all the affected card issuers -- including (my bank) -- and provides the necessary information to actively monitor the accounts and take necessary action to protect our cardholders. This helps to protect client accounts while minimally inconveniencing cardholders.
We regret any anxiety that this may be causing you. While we are taking all steps to ensure the protection of your account, there are steps you can take as well to enhance your security. It is always good practice to keep records of your financial transactions and verify account statements through Online Banking or ATM services. If you notice a suspicious transaction, promptly contact us to report it.
I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you for your loyalty to (my bank); your business is very much appreciated.
Thanks for contacting us. We'll be happy to help you again if there's anything else you want to talk about.
If you prefer, you can also call us at 1-800- from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. EST, seven days a week.
Gotta love how the info is all 20 hours old. You'd think with EVERY service they offer being down, they might find some time to actually update their customers. I mean...this is kinda a big deal.
Good luck with trying to find the latest info on sony down time ive tried and all you get is same old messages having said that there is a rumour flying about that it might not be up and running till 31st may, i really hope this is BS cause i want to play this game.
Besides one of the reasons i join this forum to see if you guys had any more details on ETA of restart.
I guess we'll be able to play when we'll be able to play.. I really want to play SWG again, I even visited the EMU and that kept me going for an hour.. But meh. /rant

All F2P games, so you don't need to worry about spending anything. These are all worth the download IMO and they won't cost you a thing to just bide some time. Who knows...maybe you'll like one of them.
I'm surprised how LOTRO drew me in. I'm not a huge fan of the F2P model but it is interesting/fun. Sony posted PSN back up 31May. Does anyone know if this holds true for SOE?

Everything about this event reminds me of the company I work for. They are too greedy for their own good; so, rather than invest in quality tech and equipment they buy the cheapest crap they can get by with. This is a medical company mind you and it operates on an lightly secured network (if that). One of these days someone is going to crack open their network and have access to millions of confidential medical files just laying about.
This is what happens when you have business owners that are more interested in getting rich than building something they care about. The employes get screwed over just as bad as the customers. It's pathetic how far these crooks get.

May 31 is for the PSN, not SOE there two distinct parts of the company. Lets not forget that the psn went down 2 weeks before the brought down swg, vanguard and eq2. Meanwhile on face book we and twitter we keep getting the same stuff.
soe "were working hard to get the service back up as soon as possible" Day after day. So We really have no clue how long soe pc division going to be down but if you were to look at the track record of how things are going it will be two weeks after the psn is brought up.
I don''t have a clue of what is going on but they must have done more than steal data, at this point it reminds of of deleted database time and trying to restore stuff.
31st May is the latest date when ALL services should be fully restored, as prior statement made on 1st May at the press conference. The restore schedule is different for each service and as you might noticed, some services are back already.

What services are you talking about. station.com, soe.com all there sites point at the security update from 5/2. The only service that I know is still up is their billing department. I know a couple of guild mates that actually got charged, during the downtime.
So I have to ask what services. I know that the psn was reported up in Japan, but later that was found not to be true.

At this point I don't think any statements from Sony should be taken seriously about when the service will be online.
They have already missed several of their own expected dates of return. Looking at the missed timeframes, the amount of time offline, no clear eta on returning the service and the constant references as to hard difficult and complex their system is it is pretty clear that Sony is in deep trouble.
Underneath all the press releases to the players Sony has to convince the credit card companies they are compliant with their security standards. With multiple databases, outdated information being stored and much of it in clear text, they have already proven a couple of times that they are not. The delay will continue until the credit card companies allow Sony to do business with them online again.

THIS
might I point out also that THIS is dead on point?
SOE still treating their customers like second rate citizens with NO communication. Same as always.
Played: Asheron's Call(still the best fantasy MMO!), EQ1, EQ2, Vanguard, DAoC, Horizons, City of Heroes/Villians, WoW (crap), LOTORO, D&D Online, Eve, Anarchy Online, and still playing SWG daily.

What exactly are you wanting from them beyond the daily "we're not coming up today" messages they're posting on Facebook?
Actually, todays message addressed some of the concerns many had about GCW decay and inactivity timers, with the former being suspended and the latter being increased by 14 days.

Progress report.
If "I" were running SOE, I'd make damn sure my customers knew I was reading and hearing their concerns and I would try to update them more than once a day with a few progress reports, even if it were just to say "Been working hard on this all day, ran into some difficulties though". It's not like their CRM's have much else going on and I certainly don't think it's unreasonable to expect more from them when they're closed down and still have peoples money. It's not like it takes much at all to tweet a few random updates. They know where they are in terms of coming back online - I don't understand the silence.
I don't know what to think about all of this. Maybe they could post "While you have not been able to play; we have still been hard at work. Today, we worked on (insert project that has been planned) and dont (this that loked into)
What I am wondering is, are they still charging people for the month/months? If they do, how many people will be pissed off and quit. If they don't, how do they stay afloat without income in a game that is already struggling?

Oh well.
Came on to try & get some info on what's going on with SWG/SOE but all I saw over 11 pages was some dude harping on incessantly about Blizzard.
Can anyone point me to some sort of actual update other than the 3 day old SOE message?
Sony are being really crappy over how they are communicating to their customers, IMO.
Knowing my luck they'll can SWG now just after I've resubbed (and, just for Blizzard guy, I resubbed cos I quit WoW).
It was Dolph!!!
SOE info
SOE twitter
Seriously if they keep it shut down for much longer then they don't have to bother with powering it up again

I understand how you feel.
Let me suggest some filler games while you wait:
LOTRO = PvE heavy (free to play)
World of Tanks = strategy (free to play)
Global Agenda = PvP heavy (free to play)
All F2P games, so you don't need to worry about spending anything. These are all worth the download IMO and they won't cost you a thing to just bide some time. Who knows...maybe you'll like one of them.

Agreed on lotro.
And no idea on the 31st - here's the latest SOE twitter info.

There is no ETA for any of two networks.

Mostly Playstation related sites - us.playstation.com, blog and store, I think.
