Old news. LulzSec and any other group of hackers are forgotten about 15 minutes after people read the article that describes what they hacked that day.

These guys will get bored and move on or the public will get bored with them and stop reporting their attacks which then force the hackers to move on, which ever comes first. Has no one noticed the smaller and more off-center headlines each "hack" attack generates?

So says the short attention span of humans in the information overload era of humanity.

Well I wish what you say was true but I don't think so after reading this. Lulzsec isn't through screwing with online gamers by a long shot. We may not be rid of these guys until law enforcement shuts them down as they appear to be on a rampage.

And day 2 of the hack fest continues...

When will they stop?? Is the government doing anything about this?

No...the government has no one qualified to track them - Microsoft hired them all ;P

My point exactly really. I read that article as well and had already forgot about it...

DDoS attacks to bring down log in servers is not really hacking anyway. I'm not saying the people in LulzSec don't know what they're doing, they obviously do, but it's not really all that hard for a group of motivated people with good networking knowledge to attack obvious vulnerable networks in a business environment.

I hate to break it to the modern internet world but just about every major company have pretty pourous networks when it comes to security. Some of these large, international corporations like Sony are the worst. They have no real standard set up from country to country (or in some cases office to office), most of their employees are still using OS environments from 2003, much of their equipment is far out dated, and to be honest it's impossible to hire A+ people for each position - especially when you have thousands+ of employees working for you.

I've worked in smaller office settings as an IT person and even in smaller, more updated environments there are obvious security holes. Most companies can't seal them up because 1) it's impossible to be 100% secure if you connect to the external internet 2) companies are severely limited by budgets, red tape, and politics and 3) there simply are not enough qualified people in the world to fill all of the budding technology jobs out there.

So what I'm saying is that if a group of knowledgeable people want to get together and hack companies, they could. That isn't to say they won't eventually get caught ... but they could do it. The reason this doesn't happen more often is because talented people usually are employed and have no reason to do such things nor would they take the risk because they have families and bills ... and this type of stuff is below them from a maturity stand point.

Is LulzSec pointing out security vulnerabilites? Sure. But this is only news to people who have no idea how networks work - which is of course the vast majority of interent users. To the people who are familiar with this stuff, nothing new is being learned. This type of stuff has been going on for a while. The only difference between today and yesterday is that Sony's attack was big enough to garner media attention so now any time anything is "hacked" or attacked the media is all over it because it's the flavor of the week.

Back to my original point - once the media moves on to other stories you'll start to see less and less reports of hack attacks because it's old news. And just because the media isn't reporting it doesn't mean it stopped happening ... but on that point it's been happening for a long time. LulzSec is just the current hot topic since they are playing off the Sony media frenzy. It's like when Jose Canseco rode the steriods issue in baseball and cashed in on books and TV shows.

well they will be arrested in time, they  like to brag and that will chach them in the end, DO you think that cops, interpol and the FBI and the like are not trolling though Hacker chat rooms right now, listing and reading and investagating right now, Yes they are, it will take time but it will bear fruit and in time LOLZ will meet Bubba.

I would say LulzSec are going to be busy defending their own from 4chan and Anonymous for at least a little while. I heard there are other not so vocal hacker groups after them as well. I think the Lulz may be on LulzSec before too much longer as they have some pretty heavy hitters gunning for them. Taking down popular game servers wasn't the smartest thing they've done as it's set most of the rest of the Hacker community against them. It's probably why LulzSec has been pretty quiet most of the day today. They will go down.

Just a little update for those still interested. th3j35t3r has been very busy handing LulzSec their asses on a platter! Check out the links in his Twitter feed for the last 24 hours. Sucks to be Casey "Nakomis" Gardner aka the leader of LulzSec! The Feds should be busting down his door any time now... LOL

Edit: and meet the rest of the members of LulzSec thanks to Webninjas. Nice work guys! image
