One will be brandished a "hater" regardless of anything that they say here if its against the opinion of another. Its the absurdity of this place's very community and one of the most notorious things about posting on this website.
I'm basing it off of my own personal experience with SW:TOR at this stage of its developement.
Its very much an episode of the Cartoon Network's "Clone Wars" cartoon. From its foundation to its highest peak.
None of what I've said is negative. If you take it in a negative light, then you have some issues to examine.
I haven't seen the Clone Wars cartoon, but do they really vent people into space on Cartoon Network shows? Do Sith torture their followers for going behind their backs? Do Imperial Agents (if there are any in the show?) use seduction to accomplish their goals?
As for taking it in a negative light, well, saying that something that others enjoy is entertainment for kids is often used as an insult. My mother used to say that about my gaming habits all the time when I lived at home. While I was playing 18+ games.

But you know the difference between Grand Theft Auto and SW:TOR.
And I'll assume that you also know the diference between the Clone Wars and HBO's "Any TV Show Name Here".
The following is a url to a Deleted Scene from the Clone Wars that was deemed "too adult" for the show. Again, it did not air in the televised episode.
But you know the difference between Grand Theft Auto and SW:TOR.
And I'll assume that you also know the diference between the Clone Wars and HBO's .
So lets see even though you claim to know whole game you don't. Frankly no one does at this point. And let us say even if you do..it is a kids game allright, on what basis? gameplay?looks? graphics?art style? . Similar gameplay mechanics have been used in all MMOS cartoon looking or not. Art style is inspired by KOTOR and even if we say it is cartoonish only because something looks like cartoon doesn't mean it is for kids.
I can give you example of 5 cartoons if you like that are never meant for kids but adults.
Now, i am not saying that game won't attract kids because Bioware is going for 12+ ratings but to say it is 100% for kids is wrong.

I will not be able to sleep tonight unless I get SIX examples of cartoons!
lol
No thank you, good sir. I really don't care. Oh, and please try not to make assumptions as to what I know or don't know... it is not a good tactic for an argument to presume to be psychic.

I also don't care i am just trying to find out the reasoning behind your comment because i see it a lot. Only because it is cartoon doesn't mean it is for kids, like i said there are many cartoons that were never meant for kids.

Nothing psychic about it just common sense. Even testers don't know the whole game so i hardly doubt you know it. At this point only Bioware has that knowledge while rest of us are waiting for release date.
So do you think that SW:TOR should have a Mature rating?
I already told you that Bioware is going for 12+ ratings so ofcourse they want younger players to play their game. However, it doesn't mean that it is 100% kids game because it looks cartoonish.
TOR could have been innovative and made a stand in the MMO industry. Instead, they are taking the easy "safe" route. It will be RTS games and Chess for me in this day and age of MMOs. Enjoy your storybook grind in the meantime..
Thank you, I will. And you enjoy whatever it is that people do, that supposedly isn't grinding, in sandboxes.
This made me laugh out loud. Because it's true...
That Guild Wars 2 login screen knocked up my wife. Must be the second coming!
Oh, I think people are overestimating Blizzard's originality. Warcraft I, II, III. Starcraft I, II. Diablo I, II, III. Ummm, yeah. a paragon of originality.
Not to mention most of the concepts for these games were not even original Blizzard concepts. I know for a 100% fact that a large portion of the ideas for Diablo came from the Angband roguelike.

All MMOs have a grind.
Fun is subjective - whatever means that you, as an individual, find "fun" and a suitable mask/cover/distraction from the grind...
Play it and enjoy it.
Personally? I hate grinding pointless wall-of-text quests. I also hate grinding mobs for no reason other then to watch a level bar or skill bar or $$ go up. I also dislike grinding instances and dislike grinding instanced PvP matches.
Gimme either open world events/public content and open world PvP or a finely crafted story from professionals with a great track record of amazing stories and characters to immerse myself in.
Not so. GW2 and Archage will charge in on shining white steeds and save the day. These games will slay the dragon of themepark games and will help put an end to war and poverty. They will align the planets and bring them into universal harmony. Allowing meaningful contact with all forms of life. From extra terrestrials to common household pets. And, they will be an excellent way to spend a quiet Saturday night.
It will be a whole new shiny happy utopia all built upon the majesty of SANDBOX gaming. HALLELUJAH!
Or possibly not.
And this is why love love reading anything by Tardcore, lol. Frankly, I've just about given up posting in any thread about TOR cause it just seems like a waste of time anymore. How about you sandbox guys go play in the sand and leave the other 95% of us in peace, kay?
I think it's funny that people expect Titan to be this massively innovative game. Blizzard isn't innovative, all the real progressive thinking developers left the company before TBC was launched. If they were still innovative than they would have continued to use their innovations on their cash cow far longer than they did, but the innovations stopped when...Oh I dunno...before TBC went live? :P
The few things that have come out about Titan also make it sound rather boring to the average MMO gamer, anyways. I'm not a SWTOR fanboy but I do know that it's a fantastic game and BioWare innovated more than Blizzard did with World of Warcraft. People give blizzard too much credit, and for what? They took a model that had existed for years, ruffled it's feathers and made it accessible thus creating a slight shift in what a standard MMO should at least strive to achieve. BioWare actually completely ditched a couple of the most boring and stagnant things about MMO's, which will accomplish just the same thing. Will it be revolutionary? Probably not, but only time will tell since it's not like the game will just end once you hit max level. There will be content updates and BioWare built SWTOR from the ground up to evolve over time. They're not going to ignore competition, and they will be among the first to hear what "Titan" really has has to offer and probably be the first to counter it long before it's even released, thus making portions of the lusture of "Titan" fade before it even comes out which is NO TIME SOON! So this forum topic is stupid anyways. SWTOR 2011/2012 and Titan...Not before 2014, and almost definitely not in 2015. So that gives BioWare a good uh..I dunno several YEARS? Silly OP...
And since people are also going on about ArcheAge (LOL), and GW2 I'll comment on that because I can. ArchAge sucks, the people over in asia so far have mostly hated it, it runs like crap for not being too spectacular to look at. The video's make it prettier than it is in live action, characters don't feel particularly special visually or mechanically. They have old fashioned sandbox mechanics, a couple of which are new-ISH. And by that I mean tried and failed multiple times already. I could go on about it, but it won't do anything to make a dent in anything else.
Guild Wars 2 is not a sandbox game by any means, it's just as much if not MORE of a theme park than SWTOR is. I know, I've played demonstrations of it before and it's storyline system is atrocious compared to SWTOR's, and it's combat system failed when it was tried in that one game who's name I can't think of right now. It's the one with the wonky art style that was shut down a couple of years ago so if anyone thinks of it I'll add it in here. GW2 was like a mash up between RIFT and SWTOR, and not as good as either of them. Also, for personal taste i hated how extremely bouncy the characters were in GW2, it felt like you were running on a trampoline. I want to like GW2, I've looked forward to it for far longer than I looked forward to SWTOR, but the truth is what it is as of right now. Also, people will get annoyed with being charged for new content all the time. Just sayin'.
But Blizzard is not going to copy themselfs with their next MMO, they are going to do something radically different,
Blizzards track record disagrees with you.
At the time diablo was refreshing different. Diablo2 really just a polished up, extended clone.
Dune1 wasnt bad, dune 2 was , dune1 with new cutscenes.
Atleast with WC they bothered to add a new story and new looking maps (unlike dune 1 and 2)
Starcraft1 while it was fun, it really was the sf version of wc, more extensive but ok. Sc2.. New cutscenes, removal of the heroes you used to park in a corner in sc1, other then that the differences are neglecteble.
Heck even in world of warcraft they are copy pasting their own work.. from world of warcraft.
While Im more then willing to believe Titan might be fun and has a good chance to be successfull, innovation is something I really do not expect from blizzard.
Seriously, somebody stuck with that game after the two major upgrades CU and NGE? Especially a role player? Upset about the friends she could have made? F*ck you Bioware? Ouch, some crazy youtube stuff, haven't seen this before...
Somw SWG fans really do have the stragest case of nerd rage I have ever seen. Just don't understand all the drama over a video game.
SWG is more of a social / community thing than a video game, and appeals to a range of people. I have not seen one female gamer from SWG say they are going to play SWTOR, as they mainly play Traders or Ents, which SWTOR will not have. SWTOR is more of a lads game
Hence why few play it. There are many free options out there for social/community type gamers. Few want to pay a monthly subscription for a glorified chat. Watch any of the fans responses from the recent pax or event shows and you'll see plenty of females looking forward to this game. If TOR doesn't get any females from SWG, a game whose population is so low that it can't even support itself anymore, it won't be any great loss.
Also, get your facts straight. There will be plenty of crafting and trading in TOR.
Regardless of what I think of the rest of the post, I think its funny that you think Blizzard is ever going to release a sandbox game.
Who's to say they won't some day? I bet a Blizz made sandbox (or sandpark) could be amazing. Maybe they will make a WoW2 and try a sandbox. I can dream, right?
None of Blizzard games have any sandbox elements in them and there is no reason to beleive they would go in that direction....
I'm afraid SWTOR has no lasting appeal, and also - Diablo 3 will most likely be released to parry TOR release...
Even though it's too early to tell, I think Bioware should have stayed into single-player games development. Blizzard still rules multiplayer, and will continue to do so.
LOL what the hell does Diablo 3 have to do with SWTOR or any MMO? Diablo 3 will not take players away from SWTOR, haha maybe WOW though ( just like SC2 took WOW players away from it when it released).
When you play the beta, that's if you've signed up for it and you get to play it, you will eat your words pretty quickly thinking that the game will not have a long lasting appeal. Bioware is still making single player games, they just wanted to take the next step into making the SW series into something even bigger. Of course they could of make a KOTOR 3 with online co-op, but they went another step further.
Damn NDA keeps me from bursting out the awesomeness this game has to share. This game will be huge and it will easily crush current and upcoming MMO's and be a great contender to GW2, TSW, Tera Online and Archeage. This game is not hype bulls@ite, it's the real deal. (excluding the space combat mini game)

Playing: Diablo 3, WOW, Far Cry 3 & X-Com.
Enjoyed: WOW 5 1/2 yrs, LOTRO 3yrs, GW 1/2yr, DFO 1yr, EVE Online 3yrs, and Huxley (Beta).
Failed to impress: GW2 3months, Tera Online 6 months (best combat system in any MMO I've played) STO 1/4yr, Aion 1/2yr, AoC 1yr, CO, Fallen Earth, DDO, EQ2 1/2yr, WAR 1/2yr, Lineage 2 and FF XI 1/2yr, FF XIV.
Ugh... I'm sure it will be popular, then slowly die off, much like SWG. But, instead of being rushed and halfway fixed, we instead have a game that's Star Wars... but isn't.
Change the speices, planets, and names of the Jedi and Sith... and what do you have?
A standard Sci-fi game.
Anyway, in general, it seems that LA is trying to push us away from ANY media based around the Clone Wars, GCW.
The hideously-edited Blu-Rays (don't mind touchups and "additional scenes"... if you can disable them.), the poorly made Force Unleashed II, the strong focus on the Lego Star Wars series (2012 will see a Lego Knights of the Old Republic, I bet), and the sudden closure of a Star Wars MMO based in the original Trilogy. Seems like a pretty nice set of coincidences, all things considered.

LoL, Star Wars have like 5000 years of story, from Books and Comics, the movies are just an small part of all the starwars universe.

Yes, they're small... but they're also the first of any part of the Star Wars universe that people see.
Isn't that fairly important in an MMO, having iconic characters that people can recognize across media?
It makes as much sense as having SOE's DCUO game being based in the Batman Beyond era... or during the 1800s... some characters originated from that time, after all...

When I think about SW, I think about Sith, Bounty Hunters, Jedi, Jawa's, Tatooine, Hoth, Wookies, Force Powers, Speeder Bikes, Light Sabers, Hutta, Rancor and Blaster Pistol.... these things are in the SW movies and are very memorable. Oh yeah, and are in SWTOR as well.
Bioware sells people on Stories and you just soak up all the moments. They have been doing it for a very long time and millions of fans enjoy it. They make games feel more special then we could ever imagine ( excluding DA2 ), you feel an importance in your character and the decisions you do in there games. You are getting a Bioware experience in an MMO, just that alone should be enough for you to want to at least give the game a try when it comes out.

My personal issue with TOR is that it's simply not Star Wars... not as we think of it at least.
Where's vader? Tarkin? How about wise-crackin' Han Solo? What about TIE fighters? X-wings? ANYTHING iconic from the mainstream series?
... oh, right... the species, planets... and... uh.... OH LOOKY, JEDI! SITH TOO! Ugh... I'm sure it will be popular, then slowly die off, much like SWG. Whose we? When I think of Star Wars I envision jedi, sith, bounty hunters, smugglers etc in a cool universe spanning thousands of years. The original trilogy is only a tiny piece of it and we know how that story goes. The Old Republic era is just as much Star Wars as the original trilogy is. George Lucas is the only person who dictates what is Star Wars, not you.

Wildstar (2013) & Elder Scroll Online (2013)
Playing: Diablo 3, WOW, Far Cry 3 & X-Com.
Enjoyed: WOW 5 1/2 yrs, LOTRO 3yrs, GW 1/2yr, DFO 1yr, EVE Online 3yrs, and Huxley (Beta).
Failed to impress: GW2 3months, Tera Online 6 months (best combat system in any MMO I've played) STO 1/4yr, Aion 1/2yr, AoC 1yr, CO, Fallen Earth, DDO, EQ2 1/2yr, WAR 1/2yr, Lineage 2 and FF XI 1/2yr, FF XIV.
My personal issue with TOR is that it's simply not Star Wars... not as we think of it at least.
Where's vader? Tarkin? How about wise-crackin' Han Solo?
What about TIE fighters? X-wings? ANYTHING iconic from the mainstream series?
... oh, right... the species, planets... and... uh.... OH LOOKY, JEDI! SITH TOO!
Ugh... I'm sure it will be popular, then slowly die off, much like SWG.
And WoW was the ONLY MMO ever made!
