This is a general poll to gauge people's reactions to what we've seen of the sylvari so far. It's fairly simple and only attempts to determine if people have had an overall favourable or unfavourable reaction. It's also broken up into male and female (choose how you most identify if it's applicable) responses because there is also the thought on the forums that the race was designed specifically to appeal to women.
Your intent to play one or not isn't relevant, just your impressions.
EDIT: Clarified title. Inclusivity.

*bump*
I always knew we women were a minority here, but THIS is ridiculous.

I'm male and I'm pretty Swiss about the Sylvari (neither favorable nor unfavorable).
Why are you so riled up about slyvari ?
They are bit exotic. And probably not many people will play them. Same as the asura.
But they are there for a choice.
Not everyone likes to be same ol human/elf/orc.
I'm confused. Who's riled up? The OP was just trying to get a feel for the over all reaction to the re-design and the race as a whole. No one appears "riled up" about it. Did I miss something?

I think they make a nice addition to GW2, but not my cup of tea so I wont roll one. Will stick to Asura, Human and Charr.
I wont roll one but i like the look.
Its different.
Playing: Nothing
Looking forward to: Nothing
They are a perfect match for my necro
Sylvari customization looks very interesting given the plant basis. Very impressed. Norn steals the show, but Sylvari slips in there a close second.

How does that work if one doesn't fall clearly into either gender?
(I'm serious, not just trolling/screwing with you. I'm just not sure where I fit in, here.)
But my reaction to it was generally positive.
(EDIT: Eh, sod it, I'll just go with the gender I identify wiith most.)
If that was directed at me, I'd hoped to have presented that poll in the most unbiased and un-hyped manner possible. I tried not to bring my own perspective into it, and mostly thought I'd succeeded.
EDIT: forgot to include the quote.
It wasn't directed at you in general, and it wasn't meant in a negative way, it's just that I get confused with situations liket hat.
"I am male and I think X or Y, I am female and I think X or Y." - This can lead to a little bit of confusion, because I worry that my vote will lead to tainted results.
I think a Sylvari's background and story throughout the game will be more interesting than the others for me.
Good point. That's something that should have occurred to me, but didn't. I think the way you most identify though should be more than sufficient for something like this. It's imperfect, but everything is really.
I think we're playing post tag. I wasn't referring to you with this but to Lobotomist, only I forgot to quote him, which is probably exactly what he forgot to do. No worries, I'm on your wavelength with this.
I like everything but the male model design and clothing; I was kind of hoping they would balance the appeal of the females with the males like the original models. However they now look like every other MMO with appealing females and ugly males. Hopefully they will show more options as I had intended to play a Sylvari male, but if I can't find a option I like I will have to downgrade my "buy asap" to "no thanks" (yes something this subjective matters that much to me, it is a game after all and I play it for my enjoyment.)
However I really enjoyed the lore and everything else released on the race and I do think that overall (yes males included) the design is an improvement over the original. Now they do look more plant like and not like elves with twigs in their hair. So I give Arena Net a thumbs up for what they have accomplished with the Sylvari.
Because flying a Minmatar ship is like going down a flight of stairs on an office chair while firing an Uzi.

I guess you could just add a note in the OP that you mean gender identity. Very few people identify themselves as both, and even then, there's usually a dominant one.
"Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind." -Dr. Seuss
Understandable. Aesthetic options are also incredibly important to me.
Ugly males? And here I thought they were quite attractive. Actually, I like them more than most of the female Sylvari we were shown and I'm seriously considering making one of the two female Sylvari characters I had planned male instead. The armor isn't exactly my cup of tea, so I guess I'll just pick something available to all races. Overall reaction to the Sylvari redesign - favorable.
Eh, I'm going to go with "meh" on this one. I've never really fancied the sylvari. It has nothing to do with my gender, it's just my genreal perception of the whole race.

I was thinking the same thing!
I'm female, with favourable impressions of the sylvari.
I think this is a great idea for a poll, though the results are not terribly surprising. I do think charr will be the non-human race to end up with the most players, probably followed by sylvari or norn.
I am glad most people like sylvari.

WTF? No subscription fee?
I think theyre so ugly that I wont be reviving them when I see one has fallen and is in need.
I'll just finish them off with some weed killer.
At 100 votes cast so far, here are the results:
Female / Favourable: 7%
Female / Unfavourable: 0%
Male / Favourable: 83%
Male / Unfavourable: 10%
A hundred votes isn't a lot, but it's a nice round number at least. My conclusion is this:
We need more female gamers.
I think it is interesting that as a female you find the males more appealing than the female characters, image wise.
so we learned 2 things from this pole.
First, most people like the sylvari. And second, this website is a total sausage fest.
