W v W v W pvp dosnt mean its world pvp. From what ive read in the thread its just a huge alterac valley where a bunch of people kill eathother for bonuses for their server.... what about the guild warfare? This is called guild wars isnt it? I dont give a crap about the other people on my server, i'd like to kill people from other guilds with my own guild. TBH i'd like to choose who i get to play with, not be forced to play with everyone. Highly disapointed.
Did you even read the PvP article? Hot-joinable PvP, you can create your own matches and set parameters, you can organize your own tournaments. In other words, you CAN pick who you want to play with.
i meant in world pvp. If i want to play battlegrounds ill go start up my WoW sub again considering it did battlegrounds best imo.
Even in that case I still don't see your point. Who do you want the ability to choose? The people you play alongside or the people you kill? Because you can go into WvW with your guild but you can't specifically say I want to fight that server because that team is in there.
It just feels like ArenaNET and GW2 fans are making a cardinal mistake of attracting WoW hardcore players and casuals to a game that literally plays NOTHING like WoW.
Attracting players from a game BECAUSE your game is different...I honestly haven't seen that in any other big budget MMO before. It is a good thing.
Yay for asura PvP. I actually think that the Kyhlo map reminds me alot of some HA maps in GW1. Thats a good thing.
I used to TL;DR, but then I took a bullet point to the footnote.
Considering how they keep insisting that their business model was a success and how many people I see with the costumes they sell in the shop, I'd wager that a good amount of people will be using it.

I will be scared to view the GW2 general forums after this releases becauses this game is not going to adjust to suit them like they want in my long run prediction. Here is hoping. I saw the pvp vid linked on youtube and it brought back some fun Aion memories.
Gw2 seriously is giving me some Aion flashbacks when I look at the videos and gameplay. You can see that NCSoft influence on it.
Aion flashbacks? You must have been left on that island in Lost for way too long. Mistake? The only mistake that could be made here is by the person who is interested in the game but believes it to be like everything is played before and decides to skip the tutorial..

No, no. He's right. It is basically Aion. In the GW2 PVP vid I clearly saw everyone with wings fighting on x, y, and z axis. And boobs.
So.....pvp is going to consist of arenas and battlegrounds, just with different names? Got it. Innovation at its finest.
3 faction PVP in a huge 4 zone map with capturable territory in a battle that lasts two weeks and has no limit to the number of players. Also played against different servers so your numbers will be 3x as large as if it was fought on one server. And win loss records are kept so that each time there will be balanced opponents. And there's PVP dynamic events which run in there to give individuals, small groups or large groups different objectives.
You're right. Exactly like WoW.

This is the dumbest idea I have heard in a while. I mean if every char is going to be the same why even play an mmo go play a shooter. I mean devloping you char is part of rpg, and mabey the biggest part.

why cant i choose both? Who i want to fight and who i want to fight with. Maybe EVE, SWG, and Lineage 2 spoiled me, but i like "guild wars". Anyways no need to continue the conversation, now we're just dragging on the fact that this game doesnt have what i want.

Just because structured PVP is designed to put everybody on equal footing doesn't mean that the other PVP modes or PVE is like this.
It's true that the game is not gear progression based. You can level and acquire gear just like an MMO, but it's probably easy to get powerful gear a lot of different ways. There are however tons of customization options, both in character look and gear. There's also collectable traits that let you customize your playstyle and achievements and titles to work towards. Each character also has a branching personal storyline so you can replay and make different choices and see the effects of your actions. Each player has a home instance which will reflect the personal story and possibly other accomplishments.

Looks pretty cool to me. I enjoyed GW pvp, I imagine I will enjoy GW2 pvp as well. At this point, I don't even know if I will bother with SWTOR, might just save my 60 bucks and wait for GW2. GW2 seems to sound better than SWTOR to me everyday, and I am a huge Star Wars fan.
And for Christ's sake, stop calling everything under the sun a freaking WoW clone, get over it. What do you guys call every new action movie a Rambo clone? Lord. If the game is fun, and yeah we dont know yet, who cares. Fun factor is what is important.

8 classes, hundreds of traits to specialize in, different weapon skill sets, character customization......yeah every character is going to be the same.........
well graphics are getting better still not Aion or Vanguard like quality but still.
However this person was she played really well. Though I think the movement is way too fast and the pvp gameplay seems to be very much FPS like, which is sad but loved the destroyed tower.
tbh only 10 abilities seems a bit boring
Would have been a very cool game if Arenanet added some real progression, risk versus reward and clerics.

Aion/Vanguard and quality in the same sentence?
Wow.
Sir, you and I have a very different definition of the word quality.
Vanguard looks like garbage, but to be fair I think a game like LOTRO has great environments and poor characters, Aion has great characters and piss poor environments, even Age of Conan looks like crap due to being so artificial looking.
There is just something "wrong" when you try to approach photo realism and get it way wrong, it just feels uncomfortable to see. Like your brain can't process it right because it's just enough "off" to disturb you.
Guild Wars 2's artistic reality approach is both pleasing on the eyes from an asethetics stand point as well as being technically high quality and impressively fluid and well defined.
I say the same thing about TOR, the style may not be to one's fancy but it simply works and works well, just like WoW's style and how well it works.
ya know based on my personal opinion yes Vanguard, Aion and AoC (forgot it) are having outstanding graphics. Sure Tera might top it but from what I've read it will not be as good as Aion.
Dont get me wrong I am not saying GW 2 graphics are bad f o r m e just not as good as Aion thats all. Compared to games like Lotro, WoW and omfg ToR they look outstanding for sure.

The left side of the bar is determined by your equipped weapon(s), and a thief would have two weapons available. So at the minimum they would have 15 skills available. There's also the potential for other abilities on top of that not tied to the hotbar. Thieves can steal "environmental weapons" from enemies in PVE, which would also replace the left side of the bar and give other options (stealing feathers from a bird can be used to blind them, is one example).
The weapon skills from your deselected weapon refresh while it's put away, so you do have a lot of power when you switch back and forth.
There may be abilities that turn into other abilities as part of a chain, or other additional skills as well. It looks like on the left side of the bar you can see the buttons for switching weapons and stealing, but no others for this particular class.
Different weapons give you different playstyles, so dual guns would have different abilities than a shortbow. There are also more than several options for all the skills on the right side of the bar. In addition, every class has 100 traits or so (think WoW's glyphs) to modify your skills. Even with the same skill loadout, you might play very differently depending on the traits.
15-16 useful skills is actually a lot to have at one time. The game just forces you to make a tactical decision before you get going of what you think you might need. Weapons, skills and traits are all fully customizable anytime outside combat.

Man this thread alone is proof that there just is no pleasing some people. It is a demo video. The looks and skills aren't all in place so the complaints about the customization, or lack of, are kinda silly. Lets face it, there are some that are never going to see anything Anet says or does as a positive thing and I have a list of those that continue to come here and act like this stuff hasn't been discussed and pointed out to them before.
Have your opinion and don't play the game, thats your perogative. Share a negative opinion and have a decent discussion but please know a little of what you are talking about if you are going to rant on a game. It makes you look small. The video was decent and the player actually moved more than I expected, but never swapped wepons or used many utilitie skills. Enjoy the video for what it is, a glimpse into what the game is bringing to the table.
Where did I write something bad about it? Just said it looked FPS like and she moved too fast but played really well.
I know the thing about weapon changing but if you are honest how often do you change your weapons during a fight? Yes, not often if at all.
cali see? thats what I am saying why cant I have lets say 2 handed gun abilities on bar 1 , 1 handed gun on bar 2 and so on instead of all this bar swapping? Basically its the same effect isnt it?

Tell me the difference
1. swapping everytime you change your weapon, which isnt often if at all (s a)

its the same strategy just a different method.

People who open their mouth with their "valued opinion" that have absolutely no fucking clue what they are talking about.
Don't like a game?
Fine. You are entitled to that opinion.
