i am anxiously awaiting the time when a couple of months after SWTOR has released arrives.
its becoming clearer every day that the hype of this game will not level up to the expectation; and many who now find all sorts of excuses to defend certain bioware decisions will be the same who will be back here stamping their feet in the not so distant future.
I would hope the people who do that sort of thing are the many posters you see around here who act as though the world has come to an end, over the current state of MMO's. I've never cared enough about a bad game to ever come running to the forums screaming about it, I simply move on to whatever was next on my list, hell I never had much to complain about in regard to NGE and I was actually pissed about that, still I moved on to something else.
That's what grown ups do. Unfortunetly, you still have a tiny minority that never grew up even though that incident was six years ago.
Normally i take reviews with a grain of salt, but this website isn't known for liking swtor. here is the first comment
Another Kotaku post bashing SWTOR. I don't think there has been a single positive post made about SWTOR on Kotaku. We get it Kotaku writers, you aren't avid MMO players.
Not my words obviously. Still you get reviewers, not everyone will like the game but kotaku isn't know for liking this game. for whatever their reasons. Not their first article bashing the game.
Why is it every single one of these negative articles is written by a NON MMO player? On top of that why do MMo gamers read them then repost them on an MMO oriented forum? How does such a view have any relevance to an MMO fan?
Uhh, try reading the whole article. He clearly says he played wow for a couple of years and pre cu swg before that. I think hes spot on and some of you can't seem to take the negative review very well from someone whos actually played the game.
Most of us think the art style is wow/cartoony and it will play like wow.. we think that because thats what we've seen or played already. It doesn't mean we dis like the game but we are entitled to our own opinions even if you don't like them. Nobody really asked for a wow version of star wars, its just what were being force fed since the NGE went live because some big bad executive somehwere at LA actually believed blizzard had all those subscribers without really understanding how they tallied up asian gamers on time cards and all the free trial account/gold spammers.
This swtor game might sell a lot of boxes because its bioware and starwars, but I can't see it surviving past 3-6 months if it plays anything like wow or looks/feels like wow. People are burnt out on anything resembling wow and rift proved that..

10-15 million people are still playing themepark styled MMORPG's and this has been the case for years. You may have your golden dreams of another Star Wars sandbox MMO that will never come, but the reality is that the majority of MMO gamers likes themepark MMORPG's with a larger focus on dev provided content.
As for the article writer, it seemed he hadn't even played the game yet, only watched it.Shrug, as this site clearly proves, you have people liking different things and different gameplay styles and games, so obviously you'll have people that will like and othes that will dislike what they played.
The ease with which predictions are made on these forums: Fratman: "I'm saying Spring 2012 at the earliest [for TOR release]. Anyone still clinging to 2011 is deluding themself at this point."
The vast majority of folks rabidly defending this game havent played it, we should apply this sentiment across the board.
Excellent!
The vast majority of folks rabidly flaming this game haven't played it, we should apply this sentiment across the board.
Just in case you didn't notice, that was the implication of the remark that started this quote chain.
I think it can do no harm to emphasize that point, especially on this site, which would lead to the following:
"the vast majority of folks rabidly attacking - or defending - SWTOR or GW2 etc haven't played it, so we should apply the sentiment of not caring across the board"
