Could somebody tell me what gerphics are? Is this some new technology I missed out on?

I had to look into the writings of Ancient Greece to decipher this post, but I think you were saying that you prefer FFXIV graphics. On that note, I'll be honest, I never tried that game because of how horrible I read it was from both the users and the reviewers including the writers on this site. Regardless, my title doesn't say it has the best graphics, just one of the best...but who knows, if I ever get to try it I may find it does have the best....of any that I have tried that is :-)

Gerphics are hgow real life like the game play and chars and everything looks  like its so real  and not like a game, like  sauy heavy rain for exp. it's almost like watching a movie put your playing a game thats gerphics  or in a cutsceen which everything is done CGI like the FF7 movie thats CGI/gerphics basicly. its how smooth everything looks and is made down to the last small detail. art and CGI or gerphics are all different.

If this game went in the direction you are stating, actual reality, it would have been a huge mistake. Nobody but higher end PCs and my new x7200 Sager Notebook would be able to play it lol. Regardless, they look pretty damn detailed and high end to me...for an MMO that is.

I am a SW:TOR skeptic, but I actually really agree with you. The environments look awesome. I remember there was a lot of discussion about the "stylised realism" approach that Bioware adopted and how it didn't look great but I always loved it.

Unfortunately, I am not a big fan of the character models or their animations. They look somewhat stiff for my taste. I am sure that there are people out there who like them, but after playing WoW, the bar for fluid character movement is set very high. Despite its ugly graphics, and 2004 textures, WoW character animations have never felt fake, or unnatural to me.

I am not saying "SW:ToR is bad" here. So far, only Aion and AoC have matched up to me for the same fluid movement. (Have not played FF). I play RIFT is something seems "off" to me about the characters in that game.

"Never argue with a fool; onlookers may not be able to tell the difference."

I need to take this advice more.

I agree with what you wrote. I feel the animations and character models are a little behind in terms of good the graphics are. However, I remember what the animations and models looked like at Pax 2010 and they have improved drastically. They are already at a point that I find acceptable, but I think there is still room for some improvement. I also read in a few places that others felt upon watching a video, it seemed like it would be stiff, but then upon playing, it felt just right. I'm encouraged by those type of comments and still am hopeful that we will still see improvements by the final build. :-)

my .2 cents... like it matters.

I disagree, i dont find that "SWTOR has some if the best graphics for an MMO out there" to be true.

Yes, they look OKAY, Personally it looks like KOTOR with more refining, but thats about it. It looks great an all, but have seen way better graphics in games out right now.

After watching the videos, the environment looks pretty good. But the character graphics are just silly to me. Bodies look way misportioned. I see dudes running around with huge upper bodies, tiny waist, and huge ass calfs. Just doesnt look good to me at all.

Sorry you feel that way. Yea, its all very subjective, I agree. I just don't see at all what is so disproportional . I don't see characters with huge upper bodies and tiny waists. Can you give me a link of what you are referring to? When I watch this video, everything looks very proportional to me. On the close ups with the story being told, I don't see any game that comes close other then single player games like Mass Effect.

I kind of agree with Drazzah on the character models. Sure, most of the body types are good and have normal proportions, but you also see 1 or 2 body types with the inflated chest, which imo feels too cartoony. If those 2 body types wouldn't have been around or more normal sized, then it would have looked a lot better.

Environment graphics are without a doubt top of the par though. At the moment I feel towards SWTOR's graphics like I feel towards LotrO's graphics, impressed by the environment graphics and landscapes, 'meh' (over-inflated chest types) and 'ok' (the other character models) towards the characters.

I love the alien npc models. I wish I could play a mon cal or trandosian. Maybe in an xpac or patch, maybe in the legacy system? Id pay 6 months up front if I could play a Jawa.

The reason WoW character animations never felt fake or unnatural is because it balances with its graphics and textures. Because the game actually felt 'fake', the lighting isn't at its most realistic, they used a lot of fake or prebaked shadows, low polygon modelling, simplified textures, so the animation doesn't need to be as detail as say SWTOR due to that very reason, because WoW doesn't 'look' as good as SWTOR, so your mind doesn't require the same level of animation proficiency from WoW in order to look good.

On the other hand, because SWTOR actually had much higher detailed modelling, higher rez textures, detailed environment, but the animation hasn't improved as much, thats why it isn't balanced, thats why it felt 'fake'.

LOL, you're funny. I feel the same way. I wish the JAWA companion was for more than one class, but I think the animations in general of the companions are FAR superior to games like LOTRO's companions. Those were horrible IMO.

I have to agree that the graphics are actually very good. I'm no fan of the artstyle though, mainly because of the way the character models look, kind of plastic-ish.

Yea art style is a very subjective thing. Again, I don't get how many loved the style or graphics of Lord of the Rings Online which more than AOC had me staring  at some beauitiful vistas, like my first time in Rivendall. I guess like ice cream its all personal taste :-). I never liked how Aion looked, but I know others did.

I loathe 'stylized' artsy graphics...especially for Star Wars. So I couldn't disgaree more with the OP.

You're entitled :-), but what are sytlized artsy graphics? I mean, every MMO has a style they aimed for. IMO, none of the MMO games out look realistic like Crysis. GW2 doesn't look realistic, but I love its artistry, as I do SWTOR's artistry. I don't get it.

I can honestly say I would rather deal with "I pwnzer joo" or "A/S/L" vs "Boo Hoo....they didnt make SWG2".

Asking Devs to make AAA sandbox titles is like trying to get fine dining on a McDonalds dollar menu budget.

Knowing majority of Star Wars Fans are older than 30, I doubt it.

That isn't a proof for anything, Episode 1 & 2 are made for kids as well. I don't think there is a single adult that doesn't hate Jar jar.

I think it is the graphical styole that makes people think the game is made for kids, hopefully will it feel a bit more adult when you play it...

Like one poster put it....TOR looks more like The Clone Wars than Mass Effect/Mass Effect 2/KOTOR. And that's a bad thing.
