I can wait to hear how disapointed fans will be of this game. I will be here with other veteran mmorpgers, to tell. "NO WAI?!!"
Gloating for something as petty and simple as a game to fail and wanting others not enjoy a game is kind of... I don't know, silly, don't you think? Not something that grown up, well balanced adults should do?
What a lot of people don't realize is that a MMO failure is a big hit to the whole genre, no matter if that particular player likes the game or not. Whenever a game succeeds, the whole MMO landscape benefits.
There will always be the big games like WoW. These, in the long run, bring players to the genre that might have not came in the first place. Many players start off with easier games like WoW and then try other things. How much SWTOR will resemble WoW remains to be seen, but wishing it to fail because you don't like it is, I agree, pretty silly.
But on topic. I'm ok with the graphics. I'll have to wait until I play it to really form an opinion.
SWTOR graphicly "looks pretty good" is a fair statement. I see it as very pastel, and textureless(somewhat overstated). I think this is intened, as masses of people with lower end pc's will be able to play it. If the game is fun to play, this will not matter to those enjoying it. People with higher end systems want real world realism, of course. I'm still on the fence, and need to learn more about the game.
SWG even look better in design and animations... and that game is how many years old? 150?
In my eyes this look waaaay too silly.
Disney MMO with child friendly fighting effects and silly superhero character design. Why not add cute pink clouds and little cats jumping around... oh how cute!!!

You seem to be really offended. OP said some of the best, he didn't say the only best so there is a big difference. it is a matter of opinion and how can you disprove an opinion? Bill from this site thinks new Wildstar looks simply gorgeous are you going to tell him too that he is wrong and Wildstar is nothing but updates version of WOW? i love the way WOW looks; i don't like the way Tera looks, it is all matter of taste.

This game would look so much better if they picked Planetside 2 design / art / look. Not this WoWish design.
It's sad that so many new MMO trying to look like WoW and think that it will be epic...Wildstar also have a very WoWish look on the design...
I think SWG art style captured more of the Star Wars feel to me but, this game looks good, it looks like KOTOR, you cant mistake that when you see it you think KOTOR

Sorry SWTOR looks nothing like WOW,i don't want to prove you wrong, like i said it is matter of opinion. When i first saw SWTOR i knew it is following same artstyle as KOTOR. Not even once i thought 'hey it looks like WOW' not to this day.

You are correct, it does not look like WoW, it looks like KOTOR (dam, i thought I told myself I would never say the ... word again, darn)
I think Bioware have been very shrewd in following the KOTOR art style in SWTOR.
KOTOR is one of the most popular games of its generation and has pretty wide appeal, not unlike the Warcraft games before WoW. Just as Blizzard kept WoW familiar to the masses of non-MMO playing Warcraft fans (which paid off on a big way), I think Bioware have done the right thing by not opting for a different look to KOTOR for TOR.

{mod edit} I agree, it is all so subjective. I disagree with the majority regarding the graphics of AOC. I think technically they are OK, but some of the most bland I have ever seen..but maybe that is more the artistry..its easy to blur the lines. I did feel that technically AOC had the best water in an MMO I had seen when I played it a couple of years ago.

I agree. I think they have taken the art style and graphics of KOTOR and brought it up to 2011 for an MMO. That is exactly what I wanted. I don't think they look at all like WOW, though I know a lot of people who love WOW's graphics and artistry. I think those who were satisfied with KOTOR graphics when that game was released will be equally satisfied with this game upon release.
Basically all it comes down to is kids who have never played KOTOR and dont realize that it came out before WoW had this style of graphics, and since it takes place in the KOTOR story line (further back) and has already been stated that its basically KOTOR 3,4 ,5 , etc, it only makes sense that it would have the same "Style" of graphics just improved by aton.
The character models look like they are still being rendered. And from the first youtube video, the animations look piss poor, they walk and stand like mannequins. When he gets hit by blaster fire...he just stands there like "Wow, I don't feel a thing..." no recoil, no nothing.
Now go look at some Guild Wars 2 gameplay footage. Character animations (especially for the Asura) are amazing, the way they run, are hit, swing, stand, everything feels organic and natural...not plastic looking.

That must have been a hell of a long time ago. Even if the poly count and texture detail of the character models isn't on AoC-level of high detail, they do have the most reactiveness I've seen from MMO character models so far: in contrast to many other MMO's including new upcoming ones, SWTOR's character models do show reaction upon getting hit, even to the point of reacting upon and countering attacks from opponents.
The ease with which predictions are made on these forums: Fratman: "I'm saying Spring 2012 at the earliest [for TOR release]. Anyone still clinging to 2011 is deluding themself at this point."

Can you post a video with that?
I mean, it's not that i don't belive you, but i have seen many SWTOR videos and the npcs just stand there shooting while they are getting hit, no reaction at all.

Maybe they are older videos?
If you had paid close attention to the combat in the videos, you would have seen the reactive animations. But ok, here's a video from a guy who collected several different reactive animations already a year ago:
Oh, btw, it would be interesting to see what other MMO's, current or upcoming ones, have in the form of reactive combat animations. People complain about it when it comes to SWTOR, but are completely silent about other MMO's including new ones where there's zero of it.

Take a look at Vindictus. Although there seem to be a hell of a lot more knockbacks and knockdowns there than in SWTOR, it might be frustrating. But each time one of the mobs or your character is hit, there certainly is a reaction.

Vindictus is one of the very few exceptions, you have to admit that. In fact, some don't regard it even as a proper MMORPG, although personally I find Vindictus' combat mechanics the best there is currently around in the MMO genre.
However, like said, reactive combat animation is hardly present at all in MMORPG's, I can't recall seeing any in GW2 or Rift, yet when it comes to SWTOR you'll find people complaining about the absence of it while it actually is ingame, while keeping completely silent about it when it comes to other MMO's where it IS missing. That's kind of ironic.

I know the argument about waiting to see the actual game and deciding from there whether the graphics will be any good. But I think that its a fairly safe bet that they will be pretty good. Its hard for me to believe that Bioware would spend the time and effort that they have and put out something terrible. I could be wrong, but I'd be willing to bet a paycheck that its gonna be pretty good.

From 10:00 to 10:12
The only reaction i saw was the trooper dodging 1 laser shot, and of course when he dies.
12 seconds getting hit by Jedis, no reaction, zero, nada.
This is what i was talking about, it looks particulary dull in ranged classes, shooting with a rifle at point blank while getting hit and showing no reaction at all...

But that's only fitting isn't it? Seeing as everything the Sith do is driven by rage.
First, the video is a cam version. By that we do not see the real graphics.
By the looks on the SS this game look like WoW in space with just a little better graphics.
