Again, just so everybody gets it, the teams aren't made up of mixed factions, instead an empire team can take on another empire team or there can be a republic team versus another republic team. An empire player  CAN NOT be on the same team as a republic player.

And again, when you're talking about a sport, playing against IS playing with.

    When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.

Screw the wet noodles that are qqing about huttball. It's not worth changing anything to screw over the majority of us that think it's great.

in my book a mmorpg with another CTF arena type pvp is not gonna get it done for me..its why i cant play 90% of the mmo's that have been released in the last 10+ years..i wanted to like this title..but i wont bring myself to play it..the whole time i would be thinking about "what this game could had been"

Here is an original idea (unless someone beat me too it elsewhere), don't play it? No where in the rules of gaming does it say you MUST play this part of the game. And if your so upest thinking "Jedi's would'nt do that!!11oneone", be creative about that stattemen. Roleplay (shocking word, I know) your jedi being somewhat disqusted on it, maybe your Jedi is an older Jedi and then be like.. "The younger Jedi just finding their powers simply dont understand yet the deep honor it is to have such a gift as being force sensitve. Soon they will wear out their needless ambitions of fame and fortune and realize how worthless such things are or can be."..... Ya know, bring back the RPG of "MMO_RPG" !! :)

Yeah, I'm sure those who are involved in bloodsports are having so much fun with each other. Sorry, but there's a big difference between playing against someone as opposed to playing with someone, especially when a bloodsport is involved.

And again everywhere you look in star wars lore the two sides are coexisting going about their daily lives.

To add to that the existence of playable Jedi shouldn't limit the content within the game. My smuggler has no ties, he can do this crap to his hearts content, if you're one of those uppity Jedi, mind your business.

lol. I like that idea. Role playing would be fun, in fact, if you are a Jedi, it might be socially a bad idea for engaging in it. Also, wouldn't Jedi be able to cheat? They could kick the ball clear out of the galaxy if they focus their force ability enough (hutt ball meditation).

What if you saw yoda playing huttball with mace and then obi wan walks in shaking his head saying "what would the young-lings think?" (I know it isn't the same time line, but who cares. It's funny).

The second one is mixing factions, which are supposedly strongly opposed to each others. It's the argument they used to explain the lack of faction switching, cross faction quests and tells.

Actually they said the reason for no faction switching was due to the story element and having to create arcs and intertwining missions and all that to get every single class to be able to switch to the other side, plus you'd have to add story arcs for each person, new voice acting and just bleh....it was a lot of work for one feature, and would push the game even further back then it is now. Mind you i would have loved the hell out of this feature, no bone about it, but they said it was an a lot of work to get this to work.

Now you have me on cross faction quests, they did state it was because you don't want to work with the enemy. So your right there. . Course that doesn't mean both sides can't be fighting the same enemy as it is with the last flashpoint, you just both might be attacking different parts of that same enemy instead of the same part.

The cross faction tells were actually going to be allowed, they were for some time, until the community at large just abused the heck out of it and they saw a crap storm when it went live (beta testers always seem to be nicer then the general public for some reasons) so they said welp it's not working in beta and we can only imagine the mess it will become when the game goes live. Sooo out it goes. The public killed this one for themselves, not the lore. (this is why we can't have anything nice, people don't know how to behave)

As for huttball itself, it's down to gameplay and being fair with allowing certain classes like jedi and sith to play.

Imagine this scenario: Joe Shom picks up the game sees a lot he likes but hes really into playing this huttball thing, so he picks a jedi cause he likes jedis and he likes hutt ball.

He sees it takes place on nar shadaa which he can get to in the mid teens level. Hes like great, i"ll play some of these quests and have fun when I'm level 15 it's huttball time.

He gets to Nar Shadaa and talks to the hutt that starts the event all pumped up and thinking LETS DO THIS!. He gets to the point he sees the start huttball, clicks the option then he gets this response from the hutt.

Whoa, you think i can just let anyone in, we have rules on Nar Shadaa, and one of them is no Force weilders in Huttball.

The player stops for a moment...dazed, then goes what the heck? You mean i just went 15 levels, bought the game, picked my favorite class and because i'm a freaking jedi i can't play? Thats messed up.

In short if you don't make events avail to everyone who can gain access to them, which by that i mean if they can see it and talk to the guy. Then a player will feel cheated if they can't partake in something that someone else can.  Thats the problem, besides, I thought we hated limitations, because they restrict what a player can and can't do? Who says a jedi in the old republic era can't take part in huttball? because the movies do, because some order says you can't do it? who says you can't say screw em i'm going to play some huttball. Cause thats what i want to do? Sounds like we are making excuses to me why jedi and sith can't play huttball instead of making up lore reasons why so and so won't play it.

This is really one of those cases where you have the option (scary thought for a themepark i know) to say i will or will not take part. It's not really lore breaking because you have jedis and even sith turning their backs on their idealogy and going their own way.

Help me Bioware, you're my only hope.

The only thing i see wrong with is the name. Huttball? That sounds so incredibly lame. I am sure it will be fun and i think the whole alien sports game fits good into the lore, but huttball? I would think some alien name we have never heard of would be a better fit. Like the card game 'Pazaak' from KOTOR. Sounds exotic and fitting to the star wars universe but huttball sounds like some crappy game in a 3rd world village.

Either way ill still check this game out. The more pvp and mini game options in an mmo the better.

You gotta blame the hutts for that. They are somewhat self centered from what i've seen, goes right along with being rather greedy, thus it's not surprising they named part of the sport after themselves.

Huttball sounds like a game invented by.....hutts.  Do they actually play it?  Can Hutts actually play a sport?

The name itself sort of lacks imagination I agree.

I absolutely refuse to read 30 pages on a topic I don't care too much about, but....

I don't see the problem with level 80 characters playing sports.

The President of the United States, inarguably one of the most powerful people in the entire world, plays basketball.

The Navy and Army both have football teams, and they play against each other.

Even really powerful, serious business people like playing sports sometimes.

If you can't picture your own character playing it, just don't do it. D:

It's not like being a killer, or being really important precludes enjoying yourself through sports, hobbies and the like.

After all we (humans) named a game after an insect that can't even play the game. It means we are overthinking it. I was trying to show how odd a view it really was.

the name is still pathetically rediculous though, so is the concept.

in case you haven't found out yet, the sith are invading republic space and kinda intend to extinguish the republic and the jedi.

so unless you can come up with a pick-up game post-2001 the argument doesn't work.
