After dealing with some friends and some people on the internet who seem to think that GW2
is a Korean MMO, WoW Clone, and not innovative, I decided I'd write this article to kindly get them to shut up and quit having the same arguement over and over again.
Any of you guys getting some problems convincing your friends to play GW2 - or hell, look at information on it?

I'll be sure to give 'em little fuckers this link^^ Thanks
Is the website called good game in my honest opinion? :P

A even better idea would be let them flood in their ignorance, but well this wil save some souls at least.
Nice one dude.
You know what scares me about GW2 articles that keep popping up? No negatives or potential negatives list what so ever.
that shouldn't worry you, after all you've made up quite a few.
The trouble is, Arenanet trumped up the original guildwars in exactly the same way, they are the true masters of hype.
For all the reasons you 'might' be interested in Guildwars 2, when it comes out you'll realise that half of the way you thought the game will play will be wrong and disapointing, the other half wont have made it into release, or they'll have changed their mind completly.
Then will start the epic threads about what should be done to change it, of which arenanet will not listen to a single word.. or if they do, it will be when everyone has stopped playing anyway.
So yes, Guildwars 2 may look and sound enticing, but we've been there before.. and honestly, I wont be touching it for a good few months till we discover the truth about the product.
Well i already know all this but im still not super excited by it, dont get me wrong ill probally pick it up as there is only going to be a one off fee and thats when you buy the game.. so ill play it but im not super excited about it like a lot of people are getting lol.. infact i dont get excited about MMORPGs anymore and no matter how much they promise they usually turn out pretty lame and boring..
As for people not intrested in it.. well the game is not out yet and as far as i know we dont havea release date either.. so why push them towards somthing thats not even out.. just let them get on with their lives lol
Do you realize if this game is as perfect as some of the articles describe this will literally kill WoW one day after release? It is not very hard to list negatives in GW2.
How about one negative? The groups are based on mechanics and can not be carried by a good tank or healer. What happens when you get a bad in a group? In a skill based game you are relying on everyone to have SKILL! This is not as common as some of you think if have ever played basically any game made in creation.
This can backfire because bads will slam the forums with "zomg this Char beat me in pvp NERF NOA or I quit!!"
"combat almost found in Age of Conan, but a bit better."
I hope its 1000000 times better because the AOC combat in my opinion is really bad
/sigh
Am I slowly being won over to ANOTHER new 'big thing'.
Most likely.
The pvp info is what won me over. Equal gear...it's all skill. Brilliant.
i have a lot of complaints about the game(after playing it on three separate occasions) myself, but i don't intentionally misinterpret things to trash the game or spin certain things into negatives nor do i make things up, all of which you do regularly.
To the nice folks saying I need more negatives or that it is being hyped up way too much, I'll have to ask you politely to calm down. The point of the article isn't to be a review or "OMG GOD GAME!" post, it is to open the eyes and minds of people who have shut themselves off of the idea of guild wars 2 just because it is a MMORPG. It is to inform them what it is, and why they should give it a chance. Simply that.
that is cool and al i dont know your friends but if they dont like guild wars then its time to move on really people like different things. i dont like it but i dont bash the game it not for me man i wont play it. then again to those who like it play it and have fun to each is there own not every one likes guild wars none of my friends do they like other things..........
.....
Yes but, the point is, any information you have could be wrong, distorted, over hyped.. or just plain wrong. Even if it came directly from Arenanet.
What I'm having trouble getting through to you is that Arenanet, months and years before original guildwars release and months before it released it expansions pretty much lied or deceived players about what features and functions the game would have.
So, the only thing anyone can say about this article you've linked is....
Cool story Bro..
true but not every one going to flock on something they dont like even i wont flock to it. its good cool game i have no problem with the games but i like sci fiction games with space stuff the setting not for me. even if they dont like the game it wont be for every one. let people spend money on what they want a game should be about choice not forcing or trying to get people to play if they dont like it then let it go let them play what they like.
.....
I think I wait with my campaign to get my friends into the game until it actually releases.
Right you are. I'm not saying "BUY IT NOW!" I'm saying, "hey, why are you interested in blindly throwing money at Diablo 3, and other games that have even less gameplay potential and turning a blind eye towards GW2 simply because it says "MMO" next to it's description?
Sounds fine to me. PUGs carried by one or 2 players is annoying to say the least and here people can't just blame the healer for their own poor skill.
The garder stuff in Guildwars already work s this way except that you need a dedicated healer as well, but there is no room for misstake there.
DPS in most games takes almost no skill whatsoever and I think that is rather sad in a genre that aims to teenagers and adults.
I like some part of the game also. I am sure as hell not going to fall over myself to call it the second coming of DAoC or UO. It does have potential, but close to 8 months out from even a Beta I am not sure how you can do anything other then keep an eye on it.
It is not like I am writing the game off. I am not blind. The pvp demo's at pax were damn impressive.
lol, didn't take long.
If you're making claims like that, I'd expect you to back them up with a source. Otherwise, you're the one decieving people into believing things that aren't true.
I have an article here on MMORPG.com that suggests the contrary.
"I think this day and age MMO gamers have been made sort of jaded by MMO developers, where they hear all these great things that people want to do, and for whatever reason, oftentimes they don’t have time to do all of it. The things that people say they’re going to do, they don’t end up being able to do as well as they wanted to, or they don’t end up being able to do at all, and we don’t want to be the kind of company that does that... We think MMO fans have become kind of jaded and skeptical as a whole, and we want to try and help fix that, and one of the easiest things to do to help fix that is don’t talk about something until it actually works, wait until you actually know it’s there." - Colin Johanson, Lead Content Designer for Guild Wars 2.
If you have been following GW2 you should now by now that Arenanet are ONLY showing what it´s allready in the game.
So all we are seeing in demos and previews is actually in game & working.
So they are not promising things that will never show up later.
What? Why did you post this here? I have nothing against SWTOR.
You might want to research it a bit more. The game has hype for a reason. It is a little overblown, but it is there for a good reason.
The game looks promising, but hype kills games. I'll certainly be trying it out after launch, but I find it massively aggravating that people talk about it like it's the second coming before they've even touched the game.
This makes you look like a troll, and I hope you see the error in typing a message like that.
Furthermore, don't summarize all of the GW2 fanbase into that flawed train of thought. Personally, I don't think SWTOR looks like WoW, and I also don't think that GW2 looks like WoW. TOR is indisputably more traditional than Guild Wars 2, but still very different from WoW as a game. Don't get mad at GW2 fans, GW2, or Arena Net because someone wants to spout ignorance about each game respectively on a forum or website.
I'm also disgusted by some of the GW2 "fans" behavior, and I use quotations because I hesitate to associate them with me. Yes, it's annoying when you see a "GW2 ROX SO MUCH OMG OMG TOR IS A WOW CLONE" on SWTOR's forums, but don't think that everyone thinks that way. It's very disrespectful.
I'm extremely excited for Star Wars The Old Republic and Guild Wars 2, and will be purchasing both.
