    Nothing good ever comes from these vs. threads.

    Whats that Billy you're interested in GW2? Cool I am interested in TOR.

    I don't care about innovation I care about fun.

    "I don't care about innovation I care about fun."

    It's clear why you don't like these threads. If you are truly interested in SWTOR i do hope they keep up in the innovation department because the mmo world has gone full blown industry and today as an older player i have to say that if your game doesn't have innovation then it will not survive. You see for me innovation = fun and that keeps the game interesting. Randomness (to the extent these games can be random) a sense of urgency, making the game simple by redefining the way a game is played, and making the game dynamic in all the little details are what attrect me to it. Innovation is the main theme i look for because if a game has that and polish it's going to be around a long time.

    1: no monthly fee
    2: their devs have their heads screwed on straight in making more mmolife changing additions to their game to make it better and more random and more lifelike then any of the other games out there and they are doing it with polish.
    3: they believe in and practice what other companies have wished they could do but haven't, developed a system of adding to the random local events in the game world within DAYS rather then months of developement/polish times.
    4: they practice producing what the players have asked for in their game limiting only a few small game changing things to keep the balance,
    5: they have kept the progression and abilities list simple quick and dynamic to environment and to other players abilities something ive never seen any other mmo do before, one of the things i loved about chrono trigger (i know im old) was the ability to combine certain abilities for better combo moves. This should have been in every game since EQII but no other devs did it.
    6: dynamic housing. the ship thing on swtor wasn't all that great an idea, sure they are on ships but they don't really have much control.

    And again, another fan who has "No Monthly Fee" as the number one feature of this game.

    GW2 vs. TOR

    ****

    To me there are only two MMOs that have been on my mind for years. For years I have been searching and have either got bored with, or ended up displeased with all MMOs. I have hope for TOR and GW2 to entertain gamers for more than a couple of months unlike other MMOs. *cough* WoW *cough* *Cough*.

    =================================================================================================

    Price

    Looking at this constant war bewteen the two games of which is better... I just cannot decide which game to pick. Money wise both will probably be about the same. TOR has $15 a month, while GW2 has B2P with a fluff shop which I will most likely get items from. That being said plus the all known expansions from Areanet will basically even out the price.

    =================================================================================================

    Genre

    I know 100% of all my friends love both genres (Sci-fi, Fantasy). I know 100% of my friends love starwars, and most fantasy movies/games (LotR, Conan, Elder Scrolls Represent!) so your personal choice on which genre is out the window due to the fact that you cannot decide on a genre. (This clearly does not apply to all, its here to make a statement)

    =================================================================================================

    It comes down to what is in the game, and which offers the better service.

    Well whats in the game? (Two list that are made of features that are important,

    feel free to tell me more and I'll add them)

    GW2:

    5 Races

    8 Professions

    Viscerl/Dynamic/Visual Combat

    Dynamic Events

    Personal Stories

    Dungeons

    Player vs. Player

    Guildhalls

    Player House

    Full World

    Underwater Combat

    My Personal selling Points:

    The fact that GW2 has nice game mechanics, great combat, and for the first time I am actually interested in PvP!!!! Im stoked for it, really I am! You can jump through windows or be sneaky, dodge attacks. It takes skill and tactics for this, no more WoW easymode. The underwater combat... Great idea! Now I can battle on all terrains! Sweet! The future promise for Guildhalls and player housing. Kinda disapointed that it wont be out at release... Just hoping that it will be FREE and not cost me an expansion or something.

    =================================================================================================

    TOR:

    8 Races

      16 Classes

    Visually Impressive Combat/PvP

    Space Combat

    Companion

    Player Ship (House)

    Crafting (in ship)

    Crew Skills (Crafting, missions, ect)

    Guilds

    17 Planets

    The selling points (my personal opinion):

    What really has me on TOR is that fact of having a ship, that is used for means of transportaion, crafting, and my own personal space. The fact that you can have space battles is awesome aswell. The Companion/Crew Skills also has me. Other than that, everything else is just blah to me. I do not know if that is enough to keep me going.

    =================================================================================================

    Service

    Well EA has a bad rep, but Bioware has a pretty good one. So I cannot really comment on that other than I usually

    stay away from EA. As for Areanet.. They never did really updated GW1 as much as I thought they could. This was due to the fact that they had a smaller team than they do now. So this is subject to change when GW2 is released.

    Also this was stated: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7WLnaNw8r8M

    =================================================================================================

    This War

    Fanboys of each game will defend the game with there honor, however its going to far to insult people and

    treating them with such disrespect. The interent wasn't invented as an outlet to let your treat others with disrespect.

    Arguements are made in every other post! Its like its in the damn air you breath! Don't reply to Trolls! Ignore them.

    What is a troll? Someone who clearly has had too many bad days and finds it entertaining to disrispect and annoy others.

    Simply just ignore them. They'll leave eveuntally and go on to the next games coming out.

    =================================================================================================

    Last Part

    Both have pros and cons and neither of them can be deemed worthy of a title such as...THE BEST MMO ever.

    The best option is to wait, wait even longer to see what happens. Wait till TOR comes out and ask people how it plays ect. Get personal reviews of it. If you are unsure then buy it and try it out, it comes with a month free. If its not to your liking than buy GW2. But please stop this nonsence war of which game is better than the other. Neither game is out! To can't say a game

    is better when it isnt eve out yet! This war needs to end, but it most likely wont and people are honestly fed up with it. I read it everyday on these forums and I finally decided to give my two cents.

    ****

    Thanks for reading this!

    Hopefully this either helped you decided which to pick, or atleast inform you.

    yep i agree :P i get sick of it to i mean i dont care for guild wars i am fan of nether i get what i have fun with :P

    yep and here's why that's relevant and important. ALL the money World of Warcraft has brought Blizzard in ALL this time and they coulndn't seem to keep innovating and they couldn't keep their game interesting not to forget the practice of trying to make the advancement aspects of the game last FAR FAR longer then they should have. Without that garanteed monthly fee developers have to stay competative and can't use that model because they will lose money if they try to make you play too long for certain things. Like i've said before, when you're in your 30th run of a raid to never see the item you want drop and to try to get badges that are temporary from a faction you won't even see in the next patch anymore it gets REAL old quick.

    Guild Wars 2 will be 100 times better than Star Wars. Arena Net is trying to make a REAL MMO  thats different and Star Wars is nonthing but the same old same old. Every video looks like a console game where you are in a small zone going through a linear mission.

  • CelciusCelcius Member RarePosts: 1,878

    Oh no, another one of these threads! I chose both because they are both going to be awesome. Can't wait. MMOS are finally going to bounce back.

  • AbdarAbdar Member UncommonPosts: 400

    Play them both?!

    One has a monthly fee.. one doesn't.

    OR

    Play the one you have more fun with. Why is this topic such a big deal?

     Guild Wars 2 is going to be outstanding but you could not be more wrong about TOR. You need to do more research before making comments like that. For example in regards to your "small zone" comment. Tattooine is the size of eight zones in WOW and it is one of 17 planets.  Seriously, look into it a lot more before you judge. TOR is going to be great and Guild Wars will not come out for a good six months after TOR.

    HOW is TOR not a real MMO?

    What's the point of this thread again? I'll know what I like and what I'm going to play more just like everyone else AFTER the games have been released first, and then everyone gets the facts on the table about what the games deliver, feel, and how quickly they run out of juice, and so on.

    It really does not matter what the fanboys of either title says everytime one of these threads pops up.

    Edit: Almost forgot to mention the lies, just reading few replies on this thread and you can see lies to make your preferred title superior and the other inferior, it's like everyone is child again. Much credibility in that?

  • FusionFusion Member UncommonPosts: 1,398

    OP

    Judging by your original post, your saying SWTOR will not have:

    Personal Stories

    Dungeons

    whilst GW2 does have these? Maybe you ought to research a tad better :)

    @Kuinn: If it isnt contributing what so ever to the conversation then please just leave..

    @Fusion: One I said please let me know if there is anything else I should add. Two PvP is there. And I'm so clearly trolling when its my thread, and my opinion of the game. Got a probelm then LEAVE. No one told you to look at my thread. I do not care about the story mode, nor dungeons in TOR either. I'll add them JUST for you thou.

    All I can say is that the GW2 hypsters on this site owe me $30 LOL.  Reason being all this hype on GW2 and even the previous hype on GW1 had me beileve that I must have missed the boat on GW1 so I went out and bought the trilogy.  After a few weeks of playing a game with maybe the poorest implemented interface of any modern MMO/FPS game, I finally unistalled it as it really just isn't worth playing.

    Made me completely dismiss ArenaNet as a legitimate developer, so my money is that GW2 will be an overhyped underdeliverd mess.  I seriously cannot believe how amateurish that GW1 interface was.  Not sure why anybody gives ArenaNet any credibility whatsoever.

    I hope I'm wrong though, but no way am I buying this on day 1...

You are ofcourse free to create a thread you like but there's also the alternative for using search and adding to one of many created already, then again, no one else uses the search so why should you. Sorry for my reply but meh, it is what it is, and I think I'm actually contributing to the thread considering the quality of responses in these threads, and the attitude of fanboys.

    every video i've seen of this game so far has me excited. The fact that they made a bad game for their first title is not good enough reason for me to ignore what they are doing in the current game. They have mmo genre game changing implementations in their newest title and thats why im excited about it. Sorry you went out and bought the old game but no one is talking about that one in any of these threads we're all talking about the one about to be released.

    and as for swtor fanbois go, sure they have a big open world but does it have random encounters, rewards for explorations, world boss fights, group zone questing despite faction, and dynamic housing? no..

     I hear ya, but all I have to go by on judging GW2 are promises, hype, a few videos, and their previous game.  Us oldsters know NEVER believe the promises and hype, and videos can easily mask severe problems.  But I certainly can trust what I have played myself and why should I believe it will be significant higher quality than GW1?

    As for SWOTOR, I give Bioware more benefit of the doubt but I'm certainly not sold that Bioware can make a good MMO.  But of course why would be believe ArenaNet can make a good MMO either?  Neither company has demonstrated that yet...

    Did you bother to read the OP? I'm not picking a side. I have stated MANY times that I will be purchasing BOTH of the games (most likely with some distance in between). And flamers/fanboys/trolls will allways be the same. I honestly don't care. But I'm tired of reading comments such as the "beating the dead horse" or "Yet again another one of these". Read the damn OP! ALL OF IT! Im not choosing sides, being a fanboy of either, or trolling. Enough with the comments that are NOT what so ever contributing to the thread. I get it, you've seen a ton of these, with fanboy comments ect. People have the freedom of speach, you have the freedom of choice not to click the like to my damn thread. Sorry for this. Yes I actually did read the whole OP, few replies, and then replied, if I had not, your "leave the thread" comment would be more than deserved. While your OP is not a bad thread in essence, it is in this site. You make a thread, anykind, where you mention TOR and GW2 in the same thread you get the same fanboy generated cesspool replies as everyone else and your OP gets buried in useless crap, and the thread then is about the crap, not about your OP.

A troll can spam my thread to hell and I'll still be here to see if someone comes across the insignifigant turd that smells like raw sewage. I know that trolls would come, but so will other people. With their voice of opinion or advice, etc. Do you understand? Most sites have that "fan generated cesspool" so no matter where I post I expect the same thing. Its not like this is my first time here. I come here everyday (try to atleast) to read whats up with GW2, TOR, and read some articles here and there. Its expected that immature people will always find it fun to try to disrespect, and annoy people. Its life.
