So far, the response appears positive, or at least guardedly optimistic.  Still has a way to go, with external testing starting next week.

    http://www.mortalonline.com/forums/67414-tc-update-so-cool.html

The information on the Overseer NPC, and how Prominence Points are subdivided and earned, was definitely interesting.

    The Overseer

The overseer NPC is in charge of all work and displays all of the information about an individual keep. Through the Overseer you can hire new NPC's that will provide extra features for the keep, such as protection, buying and selling of goods and more.

    Prominence System

Prominence points (PP) are earned by every player on their own via different methods such as killing enemies, selling certain goods and so on. An individual player can’t use PP, but they will be saved as personal stats, and players will be able to keep track of what earned them what. Prominence points that are earned go towards the player's guild, however if a player has no guild they are just saved as a stat, and all of the points will not contribute towards a Guild's PP Pool once the player joins a guild. Guilds are able to spend PP on upgrades, siege weapons, NPC's and banning players from controlled territory.

Prominence is divided into the following subgroups:

    Glory – Earned by PvE.

Influence – Earned by different actions to the different races in Nave.

Surplus – Selling goods to get PP.

    Panache – Noble life style.

    Might – Earned by PvP.

These stats will be saved as a total achievement per guild, and per individual player stat. As we go forward with development it's entirely possible that new subgroups will be added, also the current ones will be expanded to incude more ways to earn PP.

that is great news rohn, sounds to me like the developers have been listening to exactly what the players have been wanting in regards to keeps and cities.  The PP system sounds interesting also.

I agree, this looks like a little more than I had expected.  Concubines too?

Henrik did clarify something about the removal of the current zones, which I don't think I was aware of:

Also, there is no "zones" anymore, no preset zones that we have now, There is keep slots out there, but its up to the players to determine the controlled "zone" by using towers and options on the keep to grow the areas. Which means a guild with a keep can decide 100% how the areas should be controlled.

When we worked with the new and real territory system it looks like its a big crowded with keeps in Myrland. but since the territory land is totally dynamic it may solve it self when players decides the areas. We will see how our external test runs works and what kind of feedback we get in general as well.

Umm... really?   Again.. which ones are those?   See.. I put this squarely into the same category as the "It's illegal to work weekends in Sweden" claim.

    I know, right? LOL.

Didnt they recently lay off pretty much everyone? Of coarse the game is doing fine, population is growing and when you see whats coming soon (tm) its going to make this game EPIC.

I am positive that top tier programmers are lining up with their resumes- Now SV just needs to decide which of these people to hire. I am sure they are hiring the best since money is no object and the game is coming along so well.

Does sound great like everything they bring along.  Wait till it is in game before you get excited we all know the track record for SV patches.  what they have on paper and what is in game are 2 different creatures.

If they actually had everything in their feature list in game and working correctly I would have 3 accounts.

Also this sounds alot more than Dawn brought so why is this a TC patch and not an expansion?

You really believe they have a DICE programmer??  If they sold the game maybe they can afford some.

Hell, once they heard that its "illegal to work weekends in sweden" they were bombarded by top tier programmers... They even hired the guy who made PAC MAN... Fucking PAC MAN yo!!!!!!!!!!

This game is going to be so epic. I hear they are looking to also hire the guy who did the art in Donkey Kong. I am renewing my sub as I write this.

    Things are looking up.

EDIT: MO added concubines due to players complaining that they werent even getting a kiss after getting fucked by SV...Another prime example that SV listens to their players.

But in all seriousness I find it rather cute how the MO guys still get over excited about content coming out.  Every content patch MO has brought out has killed the game for months.  Hell they are still not finished "tweaking" Dawn.

  • deathshrouddeathshroud Member Posts: 1,366

when they announced dawn i had concerns over the content, i was worried with them adding content that isnt aimed at the majority of players. 10% of players would likely experiment with cooking whilst 90% of players enjoy pvp and or pve. It made more sense to me at that crucial time to focus on something the majority of players would be involved in. When i seen the TC update i didnt have those concerns becuase i know this affects everyone but also adds content for everyone to enjoy and experience, they are giving players what they asked for and i applaud them for that i a market were the norm seems to be just ignore hwhat your player base want (aka darkfall) its nice to see them listening.

Obviously there track record isnt great, expecially with bugs its apauling but dawn braught cocntent but no substance tor insentive ot keep players playing. This update brings content that will keep people playing and thats the difference. Bugs certainly drive people away but content that changes little doesnt help and this changes alot.

Also maybe the TC update is onsidered the final part of dawn expansion? or maybe they learnt a lesson when calling a large patch an expansion doesnt work out so well.

I really do not understand what you are saying here.  Are you saying yes every content patch brings bugs.  But the Danw thing brought bugs and little gameplay.  And the TC patch will ofcourse bring bugs, but something people want to play so they will look past the bugs???   Is that what you are saying?

If so we shall see when people are getting ninja seiged or dying multiple times to bugs.  Didn't the last war basically break down to the failed bug?

They called it dawn because it was the first of a new process that would move mortal online into a new direction thus being a dawn where mortal online placeholders would be gone and alas dawn was released (mainly just the cooking system and some other updates was to be expected) with AI,GUI and magic being worked on. Currently TC patch is a move to keep players busy while they work on the AI.

Calling dawn a expansion doesn't really make a difference to me, since content patch/expansion is the same thing to me when there is no price tag on it.

So yeah Dawn is the start of a process to get rid of all mortal online placeholders, which the last one is pretty much TC and AI.

Hehe I would not expect them to name some patch "dusk" when they implement the last system to replace a placeholder but Dawn pretty much has all the (core systems in it) what is a core system in mortal online is debatable and really it down to the devs to determine what is mortal online core system.

yea by some peoples logic, eve's station interfaces were palceholders becuase they intended to change them with incarnia. Truth is mmos are cosntantly being changed and improved upon they rremain wip and thats kinda what the subscription is for, of course MO's msystems will change its part of the process, certainly some things were deemed palceholder because they were there specifically to hold the palce of something else and the comunity made aware of that fact. The only current palceholer i can think of off hand left is the UI and AI.

...And tons of systems not "fully implemented" becaus ethe rely on other systems which are not in yet... So according to SV cooking isnt a "placeholder" yet it doesnt work. Raw food is better than cooked food.

And a year and a half after release, AI and UI being admittedly "placeholder" is a joke.

im sure they could change the cooking situation in a relatively short time if they chose to, but they dont want to they would rahter leave as is and wait for the npc factions to be added. picklebeast the game released 2 years to early theres no wonder certain mechanics arent fully fleshed out yet.

Al these things you think SV can do simply yet they can not release a single content patch without breaking the game for months.

thats true moreplex, but at least they have tried to change that up for the next patch with the addition of the testing team. So lets see how that turns out.

Well I am going by track record and you are going by hope.  One exsists and the other doesn't.  We will see.  As I have said I think the new testers are just going to be scape goats.  SV has used the line"we are testing the next one this time for real and there will be less problems" .  I do not think it is so much better testing as it is just bade coding.  And the transfer from a nice and tidy server to live messes everything up.

So this time instead of using the old line for the millionth time they can say "hey we had testers don't look at us".
