It's asian + ungodly rediculous asian martial arts abilities + hideous character appearances = Needs to die in a fire.
Well at least the enviroments were quite nice.
To find an intelligent person in a PUG is not that rare, but to find a PUG made up of "all" intelligent people is one of the rarest phenomenons in the known universe.
Don't let the HD video fool you the graphics are not better than FFXI.The combat looks boring nothing more than a bit of kung fu.Gpotatoe =no way and cash shop means i wouldn't touch it with your money.
I have made a stance to never again support any game that tries to "pretend" to be free to play with cash shops.
The buildings look like typical Silkroad,i bet there is not one single working door or mover in any of those buildings,so very cheap fast, lazy design. These f2p games by Gpotatoe usually run around 2-5 million tops, very cheap games.
I wouldn't play this even if it was truly free.
Gpotatoe has published a lot of games, they do not care of the quality, only that they get a cut on cash shops.
I have to say the game you play must freaking rock. I've seen you make posts like this about every game to come along for the last few years. So please do the rest of us a favor and show us this game you play that you compare everything against?

I cant speak on how much of a success it will be, but having my own castle, an expansive (afaik) crafting system, and the fact that my char becomes an npc when I'm off sounds awesome.
My thoughts exactly, but we'l see. Too early to get all excited.
Looks like something to be interested in but keeping in mind 1) that the video was a trailer and 2) gpotato. With no other info I would say that this (if it comes out decently) would be a fun game for a few weeks or a month in between AAA titles. Many of the P2P games recently have been lacking somewhat but F2Ps (true F2P) have always been on the 'light' side of being truly interesting.
I agree with others in the thread, great find! I became tired of free to play Orient-themed MMOs because they never really brought any sense of martial arts into the gameplay, just the graphics (and sometimes those were too cartoony), but this looks interesting.
Another f2p or should I say pay to win game? No thank you. It might have a lot of features that I wish other MMO's would adopt but I will not be suckered into that whole so-called free to play mess. It is just not worth it.

There are no spells, shooting fire out of your ass or all that other stuff you find in fantasy genre mmos. There are no oversized weapons, uber-spiky huge armors or fantasy-themed mounts too(mounts are just horses, different breeds of them)
There are usual orient-martial-arts cliches like running through water, parkour and other stuff one would find in majority of wuxia genre movies, though
-------------------
To generally understand what wuxia is,
"wuxia" pretty much means "heroic martial arts" if translated directly. Its a very vast genre of literature, movies and comic books focusing generally on "jianghu" a fictional realistic world of martial arts that is often based upon various periods of chinese history. "wulin" is pretty much synonimous to "jianghu" and describes the whole setting in less "contemporary" way. The difference is that it focuses more on the actual martial arts and martial arts are more wide-spread.
Martial arts are generally separated into "white/virtuous" kinds of that embody the moral principles of "xia"(xia is concept western audience would know from Robin Hood folklore, bassically "righteousness and virtue precedes any law or ambition") and "black" kinds that blur the lines a lot more.
The CLOSEST thing the usual western culture has to wuxia legends is Robin Hood(well minus martial arts and crazy flying parkour stuff).
More modern example would be Batman as "wuxia hero" and Joker as "wuxia villain".
Common themes of wuxia genre involve main character being drawn into the middle of political affairs between clans/countries/martial-arts-schools. Strong themes of hate, revenge, love, separation are also present.

Good point, especially considering G-Potato are those (partially) responsible for that whole "Allods" debacle, I approach any F2p with caution, but unless there's some kind of all-zones-open-pvp in place, all I care about is the PvE for the most part, and the distraction it provides. "Pay to win" players are more annoying when they're attacking you... but if they're on your team in a dungeon, hey, I'm cool with it.
I came here expecting him to name some of the mega hyped Asian mmos like ArcheAge or Tera and instead he names the one Asian MMO which will probably do the worst in the West. Thats pretty hilarious. I'd have to say the Asian MMO with the highest chance for success is ArcheAge.

and mine, too. its one I'll be keeping my eye on at least, and while I winced a little when I saw that it was gPotato, at least that means there's little doubt about it actually being released over here.
When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.
All games have levels. You basically stated we'll "see more games without levels" then "replace them with small skill gains".
I'm not sure what you're trying to say here. I said we'll see more games that do not have levels ("levels" in the specific sense), but use skill gains as a replacement. So in other words, skills (aka abilities) become the new levels.
Did you think I said something other than that? I was fairly clear.
By a "game that truly does not have levels," I mean a game where you can jump in and be just as powerful as someone who has played for years.
A level is a level. It's a measurement of your relative power to someone else. Some are more successful at hiding the fact that they have "levels" (regardless of your context) but they still have them in one fashion.
Seriously, resorting to a semantic argument? Level systems and skill systems are fairly well defined terms. Yes, a skill system has "levels" if you want to use a different definition of level.
A game with no levels cannot use levels in calculations. Using a character's level in a variety of combat calculations is very, very common practice even when the level system is built upon a skill based system.
The two systems are different in presentation and very often in the mechanics behind the system. Of course, hybrid systems are possible but taken at the extreme ends, things are very different.
Forever looking for employment. Life is rather dull without it.

Just my two cents worth.

What about GW2?
We're all Geniuses. Most of us just don't know it.
I was waiting for someone to come in this thread and mention GW2.
Every thread, doesn't matter what the topic is, someone has to do it.
lmao no it wont ..

I hope it is successful. Many of the features of the game have been asked for for years.

i think Gpotato killed it for me
it's going to be another F2P if it's Gpotato
also, while the game itself look fun ( air gliding, water walking, HOLY SHIT< Naruto Online! )
nevertheless, i will still try this out, because with the Big guns coming out in 2012, i dont see why i will pick this as main MMO
So What Now?
Yep, my signature pic isn't enough, people must know about GW2!
We're all Geniuses. Most of us just don't know it.
I saw gPotato and then that was it for me. Nice art / music though.
This isn't a signature, you just think it is.
