I'm surprised at how many "smart" posters in this thread is falling for the cheap shot set up by children as the focal point to discuss... pandas.
You guys are talking about "pandas" in this thread and everywhere else, but not even once mentioning any of the actual game features being put in that people had been asking for more awhile.
My WoW sub stopped in January and I'm not playing WoW ever again because I don't want to go through all that addon and macro mess anymore that makes my screen look like a Vegas video Keno game. Any mmo that gives me that again as a choice won't get any of my money (hello Rift) because games released since WoW showed it's not necessary to have more than a hotbar of skills at any given time to play effectively for fun.
My not playing WoW is based on actual things gamers care about like mechanics and gaming features, not things people point at and give the high school/internet equivalent of:
Some of you guys need to get a grip. I'm playing TOR but this has in no way means TOR will now "kill WoW" anymore than Rift was going to do that.
I agree. While Pandas are not what the "kewl" kids wanted I think this will be nothing but positive for WoW. I love how everyone is only looking at the Panda part of it. The fact that there is also..
Class: Monk
Pet battle system
PvE scenarios
New talent system
New continent
Level cap increase to 90
Challenge mode dungeons
..well good or bad we can ignore all of that and just focus on the Kung Fu panda. Ya I'm sure Blizzard never saw that reference coming. The monk class alone will draw people back just like the DK class did. Curiosity about the rest will keep people there. I don't play WoW and I probably won't play TOR either but to think for a moment that Blizzard gave anything to TOR is just insane. I can't believe that I am defending Blizzard.
I think after discovering that Pandas (yes, Pandas) are going to be the new race, most people (above the age of 10) are putting this expansion into the "who gives a shit" bin. It's just a little too much, really. As another poster said: what's next...My Little Pony?
If you're not a youngster or a girly girl, frankly, I do not see how anyone could continue playing an mmo that has Pandas as a race. Pandas ffs!
A lot of people that play the game WANTED this. It had been talked about for a long time. It's not about being a youngster or a girly girl. If you discard WoW because of a panda race you are just crazy.
Seriously this is WoW. The whole damn game is a who's who of Noahs Ark. Talking cows, space goats, and worgan not to mention the zoo of NPC races. You really believe that pandas are going to hurt WoW or are you more hoping it does?
People will never get it, obviously people who have never played WC3.

Good to see you managed to get a dig in to Rift, not once but twice. Was afraid you might miss making an opportunity out of a thread that had no mention of the #1 game on your most hated list.
Really? This game sucks and Im not having fun? Im going to unsub right now. Thanks for the tip.
Its certainly a strange direction for WoW to take. It seems their target audience was the 16-30 age range is now the 10-18 age range. I don't say this due to a lack of challenge, because most MMOs are pretty straightfoward and simple. I say it, because Pokemon is really popular in that age range, and for gamers who are not Pokemon fans we see this as a little kids game. However, what really changes? Nothing. Its still a gear-grinding game that punishes people who don't grind for gear. The addicted zombies will mindlessly shamble along into kung-fu pand meets Pokemon.
For people who play WoW I don't see this as a big deal. Clearly, they are easily entertained. No matter if they are hardcore raiders or casual players. Not sure what a long-term casual player does in WoW or if they exist, despite people thinking WoW is casual. EVE is for the casual player - do anything anytime you want. WoW is for people who commit to a game 7 days a week 5 hours a night. I continue to say people who liked WoW will like ToR, and those who didn't won't. This expansion won't hand ToR anything. You guys who are tired of WoW gameplay expected ToR to be your saviour will be severly disappointed. However, if you're looking for the same style of gameplay with new scenery, then you're going to be very happy.
This is why they are suprised by this, not knowing any history behind Panderen.
Pandaren popularity grew from Warcraft 3 Expac and was long rumored to be the next race in BC.
Amazes me how some folks can be such dumbasses.
I dont think anyone (including those of us that transitioned from WC3 to WoW) even gives a shit. Throwing in a race that looks like it was ripped out of the dreams of a sleeping 10 year old Chinese girl is obviously going to piss a lot of the playerbase off. Pandaren was shit then, just as it is now.
Still glad I said adios shortly after BGs were introduced.
"Mr. Rothstein, your people never will understand... the way it works out here. You're all just our guests. But you act like you're at home. Let me tell you something, partner. You ain't home. But that's where we're gonna send you if it harelips the governor." - Pat Webb

It took until January of this year to finally realize that? Seeing how you said again, I sounds you have quit before and found yourself playing the game over again. Sounds like the majority of you who bitch and complain jumping back to playing WoW.

How does it feel to be in such a small special group? Left out, left behind, no devolper seems to care about anymore.
As a ex-wow player, im excited at the changes, the new class and the new talents spec, and the focus back to pvp between factions, pve scenerios, etc, so panda alone wont kill thge game for me, its other aspect of the gameplay that they are doing that will draw me in.
I did some searching around to see what the general census is on this news.
I was surprised to find out we here are way behind the times, this information was leaked out almost 2 months ago when Blizzard filed for trademark/copyrights.
What i found searching around was that many other forums don't really care a whole heck of a lot, some like the idea some don't but nothing resembling a frantic frenzy.
My opinion is that nothing much will change for Wow as a result of this.
Wow was released with some glitchs bugs, then they got wiser along the way but for Cataclysym it was another Christmas rush job full of bugs/map glitchs and broken quests.I played 8 years and several xpacs of FFXI,not one glitch not one broken quest,Blizzard is really slipping when comes to polish. This will be another Christmas rush job ,i guarantee it.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

No way its about by Xmas. Its not even being beta'ed (see Annual pass for confirmation of this) and they even said the art is not even all in. Summer 12 will be when it lauches. As a matter of fact, end of June is my call. Right about the time the 6 month subs run out for TOR.
I think your being to kind on the 6 month sub guess. I would say most will be waiting after their 30 days free play is up. :P
I feel that you all miss the point of MMO's in general here. This is not a contest, it does not matter who rises and who falls, it doesn't matter how long WoW lives on for, and you shouldn't bother other's with such nonsense. The truth is, we play these games to have fun, not to be cool, or to be 'Hardcore'.
WoW has been around for a long time, and I have played it, I'm considerably good at what I do, but for me it got old and I wasn't having the fun I used to and so I moved on to another. Admittedly I will be buying SWTOR and GW2 but that is because I am a huge starwars fan, and GW1 PvP was my guilty pleasure, and I enjoyed it. Personally, for me, I am not really swayed by the new race, although I really love the new class idea! (Melee Healing? Yes Please!). But this does not signify the end of WoW, and it does not signify the strength of the competition, they will all make their money, and everyone will be happy and I would be happier if this schism between those that play one MMO and those that play another would stop.
"OMGZ Dragonz Age is teh best and it will killz wow." THis sounds inevitably stupid, why? Because they are from two totally different genres, catering to totally different audiences. And it's the same with MMO's, SWTOR has a SciFi setting with a Starwars IP, Wow is a fantasy based MMO with a fun and cartoony look, GW is a more serious looking fantasy game with alot of innovation going into everything. And anyway, WoW is no king of MMO's, the asian MMO's have plenty more subs than WoW will ever accumulate, but thats in the east, in the west here WoW is one of the most well known, most played. So why did I compare them at all? They are two totally different audiences.
To finish off all I will say is that, Blizzard will make this work, Bioware will make SWTOR work and GW2 will be awesome too.
Just because you don't like it, doesn't mean another won't. We are all different!

I'm still laughing my ass off at this new expansion!!!
This gonna be the best ever for BW and GW2.
Good luck blizzard you just made your MMO complete fail HAHAHAHAHAHA!! WOOOOHOOO!!
BTW blizz, you just made countless 4 year olds very happy for wanting to be PO the panda in the next xpac :P
A history of rumors
"The pandaren started as a creation of the Blizzard artist Samwise Didier and an April Fool's joke, but they got a massive response from Warcraft fans. In the first BlizzCast episode launched on Jan. 10, 2008, Samwise recalled the process to the creation of the Pandaren April Fool's page: "But so we put that up in there and everyone was like “Oh my God! A PANDA RACE? That’s kind of cool!” And I’m like “Are you kidding me, really? You want to see pandas in Warcraft III or whatever?”" Soon, they were included in the Warcraft III expansion and Chris Metzen began to write them into the game lore. Due to this popularity, pandaren were rumored to be the new playable Alliance race to be introduced in the Burning Crusade expansion."
This is why they are suprised by this, not knowing any history behind Panderen.
Pandaren popularity grew from Warcraft 3 Expac and was long rumored to be the next race in BC.

This is a forum, we have a right to post about aspects of a game we dont like. Thats kind of the purpose of these forums. Also, most gamers are older than 24.
Additionally, stop getting so defensive with WoW. For all you know that guy is happily enjoying an MMO and just wants to comment on Pandaran.
And Pandaren is terrible. I'm sure there were a lot of better ideas, but all the talent that helped make WoW in Vanilla is gone.
While it might be true that some part of WoW playerbase will love pandas, you can bet that not a small part will hate them, so despite all the support it will imo cause more players to leave that to stay. This is bad bad decision imo. No game will kill WoW, Blizzard will manage it without any help :P.
Pandaren are kind of long-standing in WoW lore, so why are people so upset? Wasn'it it obvious that it was the logical possibility for a new race? A new continent and a new class are both good things, at least. Are we whining just to whine? I'm confused by the sudden rage over this whole thing because it seemed inevitable. When WoW first came out many of my friends were asking where the heck the Pandaren were, so maybe I took it to be a popular choice when it really wasn't.
So, what makes Pandaren so horrible, given that they are already neck deep in WoW lore?
I think Blizzard has pretty much fully embraced the 10 year old and below crowd with this update. SWTOR is going to get lots of refugees from WoW fleeing the "kiddies game" with this update. LoL!

Blizzard release a great expension.
You have troll and haters that spam and act like cry baby.
ToR won't be an AAA games, but might get 2-3 M subs.
WoW will have 8-10 M Subs.

I think we could say the same for sandboxes. Sandboxes are all pretty much no-subscriber pieces of chit.
Asking Devs to make AAA sandbox titles is like trying to get fine dining on a McDonalds dollar menu budget.
