im jsut saying i have rarely seen a post get dleeted that i didnt feel warrented it. Im certainly not a fanboy. I doubt there are many fanboys left in mo tbh. Most rage quit a few mnoths after rleease when all their its beta excuses were no longer valid and their blind defense of the game was having to resort to constant lies. I t was those who always remained skeptical that stuck with the game becasue their fanboy dreams werent shattered. i do know many strange dealing etc went off with many of those people from bribing sv to harrasment of certain sv staff to being banned etc and many of those people involved are now die hard haters of the game.

there are 2 types of mmo, imitators and innovaters.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA !! Do you realise what this means? SV staff doesn't even know the use of "find and replace" in a text editor...

No wonder they can't get this game to work...LOL thanks for this thread, you made my day !

Soo...  they decided to "fix" the issue by ninja-editing the original TOS.  Of course.. in typical SV fashion they do it half-assed and leave the original date...

    image

And for those above discussing the right of the company to change the TOS.  Yes of course that is true, but it doesn't become valid until agreed to by the user.  Thus, those folks that were banned... have not and never will click on the new TOS which updates Mortal Online from EVE Online.

Whatever though..  it's really just about the lulz as these guys find new and exciting ways to fail.

This reminds me of the post where someone showed a screenshot in Age of Conan. They did a mouseover of the stats and the descriptions were the ones from Anarchy Online. Things like "Radiation AC" and "Sensory Improvement." Apparently they used the same engine or data from AO and forgot to change the descriptions to match AoC.

Looked at the official MO forums to see what the reaction was. Saw a thread and then it got closed after a few posts with this line:

    MO caught plagiarizing TOS

GM Gradius (GameMaster): "The situation has been resolved."

That poor GM. I can't imagine thinking shutting down threads where your game is this wrong is the solution. It looks worse than the original theft of TOS when you shut stuff down quick.

how predictable that my post is deleted and i am warned  for bashing the people bashing the game instead of bashing the game like everyone else .

Cyde I saw the post in question.   It was not on topic and it was flaming another poster.  They are pretty strict on that here.  I do not think it has anything to do with people bashing or not bashing the game.

Wasn't even bashing the game but SV for being so lazy...

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boilerplate_(text)

A  legal boilerplate is  a standard provision in a contract. The wording of contracts needs to be very precise to stand up to legal scrutiny. Because of this some portions of common contracts (terms of service and EULAs for instance),  Such shrinkwrap contracts are seldom read and may be legally unenforcable ( Klocek v. Gateway, Inc,)

Using the ToS without making the needed changes was lazy and sloppy, but not plagiarism. Plagiarism requires "representation of them as one's own original work".  An original work is one not received from others nor one copied based on the work of others. Standardized contract language is about as far as you can get from "original"

A simple google search for  "OR ONE OF ITS AUTHORIZED

The most egregious of these is Second place, who are "specialists in creating interactive virtual presences for our clients on virtual platforms such as OpenSIM, Unity and Second Life."

I would not doubt this being part of SVs idiotic marketing campaign. One of the wizards over there still thinks any press is good press. How's that been working so far?

I don't think I've ever gotten so much enjoyment out of a game I've never played.  Someday when there is a course on how not to run a video game company and how not to develop games, SV and SOE will be exhibits A and B.

I'm going to miss this failboat when it sinks.

So it's not just SV that has that "Eve Online" language in their TOS, Second Places does as well. Sounds like it's not really SV's fault but whatever lawyer or company that is feeding the contract documentation to both them and Second Places.

    Typical...nothings ever Starvaults fault. Lol

This news was major lulz, the thread got irritating with the plagiarism debate but picked up with the bloke who earnestly proposed that the person drafting the TOS was 'thinking about EVE Online at the time' (ROLF)

The icing on the cake was the redraft with the original date.

Hopefully it's only the EULA they cut and past, dont let them get their hands on CCP employee pay check, SV might soon get new employes on their payroll....

Maybe they sat around and actually congratulated themselves on coming up with a win-win-win scenario....
