Tell u why i think it will do better then ok. I was playing my gfs beta last weekend and at times id pay attention to chat just to see what others were saying.
U had the 1 or 2 people who were putting it down but the moment they started ud get a mass of people tellign how much they loved it. Id say of the people i saw in chat 90 pct at least loved it.
So the truth is weather u like it or not there are alot of people like me who absolutly loved this game. i may not have left starter worlds much but if ound myself totally engrossed in the story and my characters choices.
Questing ot me didnt seem like a grind. I enjoyed my time in tor. I cant wait to play it on early release and i cant wait to get all 8 characters to max level . Im sure given the leveling curve for me in beta ill be leveling my characters for quite some time.
I truly believe tors hook in people wont be end game but re rolling every class in game to see there story. sure i may to avoid doing same side quests over and over do alot of flashpoings and stuff second eitm through on republic and empire sides. That said i found i really enjoyed my time in game and judgeing by chat so did most of poeple in weekend beta last weekend.

Yes, and that same thing happens in the chat of most mmos while they are in beta. It's always the fans who are most vocal when someone says something they don't like to hear.#
I also at no stage ever said this game was a grind. I said leveling was slow, but that's largely because you spend a great deal of time traveling from point A to B and listening to npc voiceovers.
There has been a few other people reply to this thread who are in agreement with what i've been saying, but I guess those people are to be ignored.
The voice acting stuff seems a bit pointless, and in release i'll turn all of that stuff off completely.
a whole lot of money wasted on making voice overs for questing.
While I always value differing and second opinions to get a fresh perspective from anotehr angle, I really must question what you were thinking.
Did you miss the part where SW:TOR's selling point was complete voice acting, and how the game was centered around THE STORY?
From the looks of things, I'd say you are NOT the target demographic for this game, as you appear to just want to level up as fast as possible for some reason, and bypass the meat of the game. Thanks for the two cents, though (not being sarcastic.)
---
In regards to your other point about two classes of the same faction being mirrors of each other, who cares? In the end, the two classes still play completely differently.
For example, is the Warlock in WoW a mirror of the Priest because they both can make a damage sheild, drain mana (at least they used to), have an AoE fear, among other things? You could even go so far as to say Hunters and Mages are completely the same, as they share pretty much a plethora of DD spells, with snares and DoT effects, and abilities with which to break away from close combat opponents.
To be fair, though, the spells you listed were far more alike and actually sems copy/pasted, but in the grand scheme of things I doubt they change the playstyles of the class at all, and in all honesty, how can you have hundreds of skills and not have some overlap.
I do get your point, I just do not care about it the same way. As long as it's fun. (And at least different enough)

That's funny, because I usually see the exact opposite.
im sorry but this was a great game to me. U didnt like it fine. Thats fine u didnt like it we arent gonna make u play it. the 3-5 mil that buy this game at release wont make u play it we promise.
U are entilted to not like it i have no issue with that i have an issue wiht the fact that u didnt like it so its gonna suck for everyone and no one will like it mentality.

I am just saying just cause u dont like it doesnt mean 90 pct of the people playing didnt like it. Dont belive me read the majority of posts on th is site most of them loved it also.
so its not your game thats cool for me its exactly what ive been looking for.
I understand individuals not liking this game, it obviously doesn't cater to sandbox fans and other niche groups, but claiming that this game will do "just ok", is simply naive.
I'm willing to bet that this game will do better than any MMORPG released in NA in the last 5 years. Of course, no matter how well it does, the pathetic haters out there will still call it a failure. If it didn't personally kill WoW, it's a failure. If it's retention rate is X, well it should have been Y, so it's a failure. You can't have homosexual relationships with a droid? Clearly, it's a failure.
Get a life and go find a game that suits your playsyle and stop trying to shit on everything else.

I do get your point, I ust do not care about it. As long as it's fun. (And at least different enough)
Hundreds of skills? Each class has 25-30 skills. There's 4 base classes in the game, you get roughly 15 baseclass skills and 15 advanced class skills. Many of these skills are mirror, total copy paste jobs with different names and graphical effects.
Oh noes! I wasn't specific enough about the names of the factions. Wow, this place is geek central, getting all worked up and going into exact specifics over minor details such as not entirely correct wording, just like a true nerd. I typed light/dark because I assumed it would make enough sense for people to understand what I meant, most "normal" people are going to understand that you're refering to the jedi/rebels when you talk about "light side" and sith/empire when you talk dark side. But I underestimated the uber nerdiness of people on this forum, or perhaps you're just fanbois looking to get a one up in any way possible. I must know less about the game because I used incorrect wording! Get a life please.
Should I post all of the inquisitor and bounty hunter skills, we'll see who's talking the truth then.
Yes plx.
Really looking forward to you posting the BH stealth ability.
I never said the shadow was a mirror of bounty hunter. The inquisitor tree is a mirror of the bounty hunter, most of the skills are mirrors, only a few arn't. You're good at failing to understand how the advanced class system works in this game. When you pick shadow, you get a seperate skill tree from your inquisitor tree, and you still continue to train in both classes right up to 50.
You are going to have to be more specific.. starting abilities include for the bounty hunter
rapid shots, which is a ranged grey damage ability
Missle blast, which is a knockback and aoe ability
You can vent heat, which is a class ability
flame thrower is an AOE ability... and so on.
On the inquisitor you have
saber strike which is a melee ability for white damage
shock which is shorter range single target
overload which is an AOE knockback ...
I mean these are just the starting base class abilities. I honestly do not know what you mean by "mirror" because when I look in the mirror, the exact same thing looks back at me (myself, usually).... but in this case a lot here is not similar, even to the point of being extremely different. So please, post the skills you mean specifically, because without specifics we both look foolish.
rapid shots is the free non power using skills BH get at level 1. sabre strike is the free non power skill inquis get at level 1, one is ranged one is melee, they do the same thing, but i'll forgive because each class needs something that's free to use at level 1.
overload is an aoe knockback that is identical to the BH jetboost.
Jet boost is an AOE slow, this is also one of the inquisitors only early AOE abilities and all it does is knock them back. Most classes have an AOE ability at the early levels.
electrocute (inquistor single target 4 second stun) identical to BH electro-dart (single target 4 second stun)
ALL classes get a base 4 second stun at some point.
Both classes get a 1 minute CD break out of CC skill
ALL classes get a CC break with 1 minute cool down.
Both classes get a 1 minute mezz on a 1 minute CD.
Most classes get this, and its only 1 minute when spec'd for support. For example I can lift for a minute on my Consular, but shadows only get half that, if even that much.
Both classes get a shield ability, the inquisitor one is like powerword shield, it absorbs X amount then is gone. BH shield is a 25% damage reduction for a set amount of time.
Difference here is, the shield ability for the inquisitor is very strong and can be put on any player.. its a mitigation technique for healers.
Both classes get a 3 second channeled single target damage skill. Force lightning for inquis, unload for BH, both classes have talents that enable this skill to have it's CD either removed or lowered and its damage increased.
All classes get a channeled abilities, all of which have either a tree ability to lower or remove CD.
Both classes have a 20 minute CD skill that resets the CD on their 4 second single target stun and regens 2% health per 3 seconds for 1 minute.
This is likely the ability that requires a companion out, and every class gets that.
Both classes get a talent system mechanic that allows them to "proc" their damage skill 30% of the time if they spec for it.
Most classes have this ability.
Missile blast is a mirror of Shock, they both CC their target for a moment. The differences are missile blast adds an AE for worthless tiny dmg and has no CD. I'm talking 12 dmg against 1k hp mobs.
Shock isn't AOE, and it doesn't have knock back...these are different skills and if used the same you're not doing it right.
Pretty weak honestly. I see what you're saying about these two classes having similar abilities, because all classes have a base set of things they WILL have.
the 4 second stuns, the 20 minute stun reset, the breakout ability, sprint, AOE abilities, you will get all of these on all classes. each ability has a different effect though, different ranges, and different total uses, not to mention depending on how you spec your character COMPLETELY changes the way you use these abilities. If I knew you were saying that these classes are the same because they use the same abilities that every class has a variation of to balance the game... then I would say: Yes, every class has some form of those abilities, they are the same.
But you disregard the rest of the abilities, for instance I had 2 complete bars filled and half a side bar filled with my consular, and only a handful of those were abilities everyone got. I had a lot of DoT, speed buffs, pulls, knockdowns, all of which were different from class to class.
Was just going to post the same thing. Either he's just trolling or is the most unobservant beta tester in history. Any way, I disagree wtih him. This game is going to be huge. How Bioware does post launch with its content releases will determine exactly how huge.
In WoW, a Mage is the same as a Warlock, because they both have ranged damage spells.
See how easy that is?
I am guessing the OP had a typo but I can tell you this.
Sith inquisitor = Jedi consular
Sith Marauder = Jedi Knight
Bounty Hunter = Trooper
Smugger = Imperial agent
The only differece is the names of skills and animations of skills, but they are IDENTICAL in feature, function and class design. There are only main 4 classes in TOR folks. Advanced trees are also the same ( per class basis ).
The voice acting stuff seems a bit pointless, and in release i'll turn all of that stuff off completely.

You're right. This makes it easier to balance. Show me an MMO where this mirroring is not the case, and I can show you that one class is completely overpowered while everyone else plays second fiddle until there is the inevitable NERF and half the FOM crowd is crying about having to roll a new toon. See Bright Wizard.
I don't know why this kid keeps trying to defend this.
No one in here cares about what you have to say and they are going to play the game regardless of what you point out. Even if there are "mirror" classes in the game, they are still going to buy it and play it. You made your point, if you even want to call it that. Move on.
Every post you make seems more and more likely that you are troll because you are just craving the attention.

Nope... sadly not a typo. Otherwise this thread wouldn't be 90 posts long.
I wanted to try it out for my self but could not so I cannot put up an opinion about how the game is, but from all the reviews and posts I see that this game will not be my cup of tea just because its the same themepark genre.
Also when I tend to buy most of my games, I like to have CE because of the many other things that come with it, and in this case 180USD is just too much.
The truth may be puzzling. It may take some work to grapple with. It may be counterintuitive. It may contradict deeply held prejudices. It may not be consonant with what we desperately want to be true. But our preferences do not determine what's true.

Dude... you can get a beta key for Thanksgiving weekend on the homepage of this website. Try it yourself.
Also, anyone who spends 150 dollars on a game they have had no hands-on time with is asking to be ripped off.
its boring and i still want to know why i cant sit in a chair in a cantina ????
For the sitting inclined, they did confirm that in the next upcoming Beta ‘build’ characters will be able to sit in chairs and purchase coins to use on Jukeboxes in the Cantina.
I saw someone doing it last weekend in one of the cantina's (yes a player). I couldn't figure out hte command myself, but it is in there.
not sure about in cantinas since i havent had much chance to play since this was implemented(works been kicking my ass ) but when in the cockpit of my ship i just had to click on a seat. not sure if all chairs can be sat in, so maybe all the ones you could were filled.
Hmm where on the main website, I did the Like on facebook to get a key but I guess I didnt make the cut, any info would be greatly appreciated
thank you

I dunno about sitting in a cantina, if that's your thing, but someone (and I don't know where I read this) said that if you fall a distance, you will do a roll rather than just clunking feet first on the ground. That's way better than most MMOs.
