As I'd mentioned about a month back, I had concerns about the lightsaber as a main weapon choice.  Someone told me you'd also have, what was it, vibro-blades (?) as melee weapons and a few others, but the melee choices still seem lacking to me from what I'm reading.  And what's with people getting hit by groups of people wielding lightsabers and not dying?  I guess Star Wars physics is out the window in this adventure.  The coolest thing about the weapon in the movies was how much immediate, fatal damage it did.  These lightsabers must be early models made of flourescent light bulbs and celophane.

Ah yes, the old "Lightsabers should 1 shot kill everything" argument.  Tell me, when was the last time you played a game that every time you hit something you 1 shotted it?  Was it any fun?  I personally don't see how it could be any fun.  Especially when it comes to PvP.  I mean, if you made the mistake of letting a Jedi or Sith get in the range of say . . . a saber throw, you would be dead.  A lot of fun that is.

In the eu there are lots of reasons lightsabers dont 1 hit kill u. Even look and his father anakin and obiwan duels lasted a bit. and dont forget yoad, sideous where no one ever landed a blow.

The eu talks about beskar a mandalorian alloy that is resistant to lightsabers. anyone whose read the eu would know lightsabers dont always kill sometimes they maim sometimes they kill alot of times they just clash or bounce of beskar.

The OP sounds like your typical "phat lewts and status" player from WoW.  If that's all you're about, of course you're not going to enjoy the game.  You have to let go of the phat lewts and let the force floooooow through you.

The issue i had when playing beta was the quests. A 5 - 10 minute conversation to find out i had to go kill 10 rats?

I understand, SWTOR is a "story" MMO. However, i think you can tell a good story without having to have this type of insane timesink. Think about it, if you listened to the story of every quest giver you'd take 3 months to level, yet if you skipped their conversations, it'd take about 2 weeks.

Now i know what your going to say, "Why dontcha just hit tab and skip through the conversation till you get the quest." Here's why : that would turn this from a "story" MMO to a boring MMO.

I dont like a game taking 10 minutes to do what they could've done in 30 seconds.

IMO, they should've gone a different route, they should've kept all the Kill ten Rats and Bring X to Y and then to Z quests on something like a Bounty Board, and then had the "Personal Story" quests (where say the Consular gets a lightsaber, goes through his trials, etc.) full conversable and voiced.

*sigh* Or, atleast shortened the amount of time in a conversation.

Thats my 2 cents, honestly, it's a fun game, I just felt that it lacked something. It took me awhile to pin it down but this explains most of it.

you either didnt keep your expectations in check or failed to look around for the other components

padawans have lightsabers, they don't wait to give lightsabers to the most powerful of jedi/sith

What I was getting at is that the lightsabers should be a reward for higher end content because they're known by every SW fan to be ridiculously dangerous.  As it stands, it just doesn't make sense.  I know it's a video game, but I was wondering why they didn't have low level weapons that replace lightsabers until such time as your character could withstand a blow from one, be it because of their armor, technique, etc.  I mean, look at the really cool cinematic intros for TOR.  Someone should tell these guys they don't need to dodge nearly as much since getting hit by a lightsaber is like someone snapping you with a wet towel.  One of the best aspects of the entire Star Wars universe, and it's dumbed down to a typical melee weapon that everyone is swinging constantly.  Kind of takes the thrill out of it IMO.

And ... did you just end that post with Yoda-speak?

not one , i repeat and i did 4 classes not one of my conversations led me to a kill 10 of this quest. The kill x or y number have nothing to do with the conversation they are bonus quests that just pop up an go away when done.

U never have a conversation in my experiance to go kill 10 of this or that. I didnt get off starter world but as far as my experiance this was not true at all.

Im having an issue belive this guy played this game at all.

If you played the game you would know that everything you just said is false.

The cutscenes are not ten minutes. They are not five minutes. They are usually around 1-2 minutes most of the time.

The quests are not kill quests (NPC's don't give you kill quests in this game).

The leveling curve is designed around the conversations. This is obvious to anyone who has played for more than five minutes.  It doesn't take any longer to level in this game then any other MMO. The quests you do give a lot of XP, and you level pretty quickly actually.

During the time period of the old republic, it was common practice on both sides of the conflicts to lace their armor and weapons with a cortosis weave, which was resistant to lightsaber strikes.

They even used this stuff in some of their ship hulls.

If this game can provide me the bestest MMO experience for two months and nothing after that other than coming back for major content patches.

I'm fine with it. I'll pay when I play, If I don't feel like its worthwhile for the sub price, I'll just wait till there are more to do.

Knowing myself, it will take much longer than 2 months for me to get to level cap.

id like to point out it doesnt matter to them that they are lies. They dont care that they are lies. They get to spread them like wildfire no consequenses and if u call them haters or say they are liars u get the ban hammer.

so u cant reallyc all them out. So they can go around trolling and spreading there lies with no consequence adn as such do so.

Provided you aren't just messin' with me, that makes a lot more sense.  Thanks for the info.

I cant agree enough with that sentiment. Will be nice to be able to play the game when I wish, and get to keep my character.
