Nay.. *points at sig* The game is bascally a much more linear/tunnelfied world of warcraft. Heard this from mutiple people. Don't expect too much out of swtor, you'll most likely be dissapointed. Then again if you like world of warcraft swtor will probally feel right at home for you.
Being a pessimist is a win-win pattern of thinking. If you're a pessimist (I'll admit that I am!) you're either:
A. Proven right (if something bad happens)
or
B. Pleasantly surprised (if something good happens)
I think everyone knows by now that I've bought the game.
But, just to add to that....I'm usually more of a Sandbox fan. And I loved the old-school MMORPGs. I've always gotten incredibly bored, very quickly, in most any themepark game I've played.
SWTOR is friggin GREAT. I can't stop playing it, even after months of beta testing. And I know it's just going to get better!
Unlike muffins. Muffins don't get better with age.....they get dry, and then moldy, and I have to send them back to our pastry vendor or write them off and trash them.
Dont say bad things about aion, I love that game and it still is the second most populous mmo in the world, Id harly say it bombed.
Well:
For WoW the asia numbers are counting but for Aion they are not, so whatever but I heavily agree without the **** p2w stuff I would still play it cause its the best MMOG outthere by a country mile.
Man some of these swtor fanbois are really getting annoying now glad, the game will soon be out so we won't have to deal with them again.
There's no point in debating that about WoW. Even if you count only NA subscriptions for every MMORPG, WoW would still wipe the floor with pretty much all other games.

Then maybe you shouldn't be posting on SWTOR threads? Just a thought.
yea u got flame tor on a tor forum and dont expect the players that like ti to defend it ? really how dumb can a person be really.
yea i dont go flam on gw 2 on gw 2 forum that would just be stupid of me to expect my flames to be enjoyed and applauded by gw 2 fans . id expect them to defend the game they are looking forward to.
I'll let ya know after I do the beta weekend. Right now a definate NAY. Loads of cutscenes and pets that I can seduce has absolutely zero appeal to me. PvP is my #1, and SW:TOR looks to be bland in that regard. But I'll give it a try, we'll see.
Used to be Yeah, but after hearing more and more about it, I decided it just isn't the game for me. I could list all the things I dislike about it, but they will probably seem trivial to most, but in my eyes, they really impact the game in a major way, and a negative one at that.
Anyways, I hope most can enjoy the game and last a long time with it, not make it another "Flavor of the month" games.
I am entitled to my opinions, misspellings, and grammatical errors.
I voted nay. I love Bioware games but I honestly think that they took the completely wrong direction with ToR. When the design documents were decided someone should have asked the obvious question of 'ok, Themepark MMO's are the in thing right now and doing fantastic but how will they be doing in six years time, don't you think that gamers will be somewhat burned out on them by then?'.
Obviously this question wasn't asked and sadly I think the game after a few months will be sat somewhere above WAR but nowhere even close to WoW with active subscribers. When the likes of TSW, GW2 etc. get released ToR will suffer IMO.
Nay for me. Been in the beta for 6 months. I know the game and i'm not liking what I see. Disappointed with the way BioWare handled the Star Wars title.
What happens in 6 months when the story is all run out? It took years for them just to make this much. This isn't gonna hold people :-/

Well, believe it or not, Bioware is allowed to actually add more content on top of the content they release with. Crazy idea, I know.

It didn't take them years to make a story. It took them years to make an entire full featured MMORPG.
Also, here's what happens when the story "runs out." You do the same thing you do when you hit level cap in any MMO. It has all of the standard endgame features to expect from a themepark mmo. If you don't like those features then maybe this isn't the genre for you.
Raiding
Hard level dungeons
PVP (in various forms)
Alts
Crafting
Endgame solo content.
Its all there. Not to mention the fact that we still don't really know how fast Bioware is going to add content to the game. You can speculate all you want and act like you know, but you don't. I think they may surprise us with their capability to add stuff to the game. We will see though.
Playing: GW2 Waiting on: TESO Next Flop: Planetside 2 Best MMO of all time: Asheron's Call - The first company to recreate AC will be the next greatest MMO.
By the way anyone making a decision on this game based on what they hear is doing themsevles a disservice. U should try it at least in beta.
I can understand if u just dont like any themepark games or biowre games at all not trying it but otherwise give it a tryl
I did and loved every minute in game. Then again i love bioware games and i love themepark games.
by the way themepark games have ruled the genre for what now 10 yrs. I dont see that ending when the top sandbox games avg 500k subs and the top 10 themeparks ave over a million i dont understand why u think making a themepark is the wrong way to go.

Ill break it down to you.....Its either Raiding or Instanced PvP. Nothing else will garner the rewards unless you dedicate your self to the same thing thats been going on for 7 years.
Thank god other games are on the horizon that think of endgame as something other then a carrot on the end of a stick to keep players subscribed., and by the looks of it, it cant happen soon enough.

Tor has open world pvp zones on 11 planets. Even on pve servers these zones flag u for pvp if u enter them.
they have a pvp planet in illum thats persistant world pvp with objectives. So yoru instand pvp is wrogn on so many levels pal.
they have raids but also have end game pve activites on illum Id assume doing pve stuff wont take u into the pvp flagged areas but i dont know how that works but they have a whole story based stuff u can do on illum at end game if u want to solo.
So its not just radiing and instance pvp at end game at least if u are gonna put this game down get your facts straight.
God this is what i hate. Not that people dont likie tor i dont care if u like or hate tor i really dont but spreading outright lies abou it pisses me off.
I've played MUD's, Ultima Online, EQ (5 Years!), SWG, and everything up to Rift. I've basically played it all, so my experience is vast and my burnouts many.
I've been fortunate enough to be involved in the TOR beta test weekends and I have to say the last time I enjoyed a MMO this much was when I was hooked on Evercrack as a kid. I got to play TOR on the weekend Skyrim was released so you can imagine my dilemma, so I shelved Skyrim and dived into TOR. But once my weekend was finished Skyrim was just not staving off my need for more TOR! I simply cannot play any other game at the moment, not Skyrim nor Saint Row the Third, I need a hit of SWTOR!

There is plenty of flavors of open world pvp. Such as illum an objective based open world pvp zone. and let me tell you it's huge. There are rewards in the form of commendations form illum used to by gear.
There is also a FFA PvP zone with rare crafting mats and rare vendors that can be killed.
There is also a bunch of solo endgame content on illum.
Some of us really enjoy endgame PvE such as raiding and hard mode dungeons. I for one love raiding not for the carrot but for the teamwork and coordination required. I actually play these games for the game not for the rewards. Maybe you should try that some time, unless you're just to obsessed with loot to have fun actually playing a game and experiencing the content.
Could you provide some examples of this new revolutionary endgame you speak of? I haven't really heard of any of it, but I am interested.
Didnt u know gw2 is gonna change everything about mmos. They arent gonna do one thing thats ever been done before.
They wont do raiding or instanced pvp they wont do dungeons or silly stuff like that.
Gw 2 wont do any of the silly mechanics wo has they are inventing all new mechanics from how u walk to how u use skills. No more hotbars for me
Gw 2 wont have combat thats ever been seen before its gonna re invent everythign combat related. They wont have any quests at all only dynamic events.
Gw 2 is changing everythign about mmos from how a screen loads to how a player eats and farts . Gw 2 the first mmo to actually never use a thing any other mmos has ever used before.
sorry couldnt resist and for one i hope gw 2 i9 a great game and succeed snd as is buy to play i may even try it .
Im just saying this is usually what u hear when tor is trashed taht gw 2 is doing it right and tor isnt.

swtor at this point is around the 5 mill of preorders, with 1 month left till launch. haters gonna hate, easy like that.

I probably gonna buy gw2, but tbh it will be fun to see the massive disappointment about gw2 in the MMO community. people leveling till the endgame to find that there is nothing much to do, just the same dynamic events that you arleady did, well and arenas pvp, but you dont even need to level up for that, just play pvp like in gw1.
