It's going to be "Nay"for me simply because of a preference type of game but SWTOR is a robust game that is middle road between MMORPG and single player RPG.Bioware nailed the SW world and sound marvelously.

In the land of Predators, the lion does not fear the jackals...

But, just to add to that....I'm usually more of a Sandbox fan. And I loved the old-school MMORPGs. I've always gotten incredibly bored, very quickly, in most any themepark game I've played.
SWTOR is friggin GREAT. I can't stop playing it, even after months of beta testing. And I know it's just going to get better!

Unlike muffins. Muffins don't get better with age.....they get dry, and then moldy, and I have to send them back to our pastry vendor or write them off and trash them.

I'm a little sad to see Muffins falling so far behind in the poll. :-(

I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.

It must have gotten moved sometime last night. I'm pretty sure I started it in the 'General MMORPG' zone. Oh well. People will see it every once in awhile on the 'Recent' list of threads.

Nay for me here as well. It just sounds like the standard themepark affair dressed up in the SW universe with voice acting and the focus on story as the gimmick.

Back when I started to play MMOs the draw was to play with thousands of people in a progesssion based game. I cared about lore but not story telling. For that I have my single player rpgs.

So take voice acting and story away and then what do you have?. A mediocre themepark mmo. Kind of getting fed up on those regardless where it takes place.

Plus I hate the artwork and animations

You wont get many honest answers in this site, nor will the poll reflect launch or success of this game in this site. Sadly, it's not the fault of mmorpg.com but the site seems to be crawling mostly hc fans or haters, where it has become impossible to have anykind of discussion about pretty much anything without involving torches and pitchforks.

Fansites works propably best for any game nowadays, there's so little blind hate on most of them that even the fans have courage to discuss the flaws of a game too, not all being roses and honey nor the rain of blood either, like most of the time told in this site by users.

I'm sorry but i voted Nay, i have played the beta, and i'm totally going to play this game...

when it turns into a F2P model.

I'm a rabid Star Wars fan, and a Bioware fan too (except Dragon Age 2...), but i'm really disappointed with this game.

The gameplay is really good, but it feels like another wow-clone. The regular quests are boring as hell, and some of them has no sense, specifically the Korriban ones (this hurts me as a fan of Star Wars expanded universe...), it has a lot of time-sinks, the looting animation is a time-sink itself!, most of the dialogues are out of character, i really hoped that it will improve while i advanced in the storyline, but it didn't, it has the same problems that Dragon Age 2 has... The companion characters are good, i really liked how they work, and i really liked the flashpoints, well some of them. But once you finish them, that's all, the same story again and again.

The game have some great points, but the greater point that makes the difference is the storyline, and it has an end, once you finish it, you're done. So far, i couldn't see anything that proves that the storyline branches by your decissions, i hope they do, if someone can confirm it, please, it will be a +1 point to the game for me.

And i really REALLY want to like this game.

The time will tell the success of the game, of course. And i hope it will be successful enough to improve.

I will wait some months to consider to buy this game, because, the way it is now, i'm afraid of another AoC, Warhammer Online, Aion,etc... failure.

Peace, and may the Force be with this game!

Hehe, funny thing is that your choice of words and general outlook on mmorpg games and gamers makes me hope that people who are like you will avoid Swtor like the plague. Not to mention that I disagree with pretty much everything you wrote.

    Nay for me too.

Going to play other F2P games like Fallen Earth, Lineage 2, DCUO, Firefall and Tribes while waiting for GW2 :P.

Pardon my English as it is not my 1st language :)

Yep, getting it.  I really have nothing against the WoW type themepark model, I just got bored of the setting after 6 years or so.  I've been waiting for a good sci-fi mmo since I stoped playing AO as well, so it can fill those boots too.

I've always loved bioware's games and I feel the voiceacting changes things alot for me.  It really has everything I want atm.

Best thing about swtor, is that we wont find all this gw2 kids and haters. And tbh, dont really matter what they think, tor will be a success and a b2p game like gw2 it wont be a competition, all these  hardcore fanboys still didnt notice that gw2 is f2p for a reason, is not even a MMO, is a casual e-sport game, Like LoL or HoN etc. so LoL should be worried and not swtor.

The game is what I expected from a company that made and designed the KoTOR. If people were expecting something different , they've only themselves to blame . If you played any KoTOR game , you'll understand.

I'm getting it. I liked KOTOR, I like what I see in beta.

DarkPony, if this isn't proof that this attitude goes both ways, I don't know what is.

Phew, thankfully you have let us all know we won't have to be playing with you. Btw, a little advise, take your Ritalin before posting next time. There's a good boy, now run along, the  ice cream van is coming.

I used to play tabletop star wars with friends and i find this game to be a disgrace with only 4 classes, it could have been good if they made a huge world with player dirven economy like EVE. with all the races, ships, planets, weapons, droids, etc...

I have no interest in this game at all.

You heard this? Seriously you heard this... Yes I understand what you are saying I just can't understand how when there were tons of beta invites and everyone and there mother is invited to this next one and even if they weren't there were at least 75,000 beta keys available. And you still have people saying well I heard from so and so and this guy so it must be true.

I hope all your decisions in life aren't based off of what other people told you.

Muffins for now. I'm gonna try out the beta before making up my mind.

  • Deathstrike2Deathstrike2 Member UncommonPosts: 1,777

I'll buy it, but not until I'm done with my new Skyrim fix.  I haven't missed playing any MMO since I got it.

  • Kaynos1972Kaynos1972 Member Posts: 2,316

I played 2 beta weekends, i forced myself to play, gameplay is so generic and boring, it's WOW all over again.  So NO i'm not buying that WOW clone.
