Being excited about a mmo is one thing but calling it briliant is laughable. I'm sure TOR will have its diehard crowd that will stay for the long haul.
how is calling a game that you think is good, fun, and well made "billiant" AT ALL laughable?
if he likes the game, and is having fun.... the game is indeed "brilliant" to him. lay off the idiotic comments for the day please.

graphics, graphics...yer, maybe, but the gameplay is...world of warcraft in space...no really! I really don't get it, do you really like this game? Prime Online is the game that is worth waiting for...these themeparks...for teens....Go kill 10 Newbie Hunters...Go get 10 Newbie Hunter's Riffle from Newbie Hunters... this is just rediculous...was fun like...5 years ago...5 years!!!...(at maximus level) Go kill 20 Maximum Level Hunters...Go to a dungeon get some gear...got all the best gear? Wait for the expansion in which you can kill some mobs again, and get some better stuff... OMG....

Most fun I've had in an MMO. Cutscenes load fast, the combat is fun, sound is brilliant. Definitely getting this - I was anyways, but still.
Don't know if it was my computer but everything was smooth and the graphics were great!
Many of us have learned long ago that when a novice member posts just in time to present a new mmorpg - that it is nothing more than a member of the product's advertsing team just doing their job. Glad you enjoy the game - not sure another 2 faction instanced battleground mmorpg is for me, however. I am still waiting for something made for the grown ups.
That being said, how can you be listed as a novice member when you have: 386 posts? lol.

im sorry you didnt get the game you wanted. Unfortunately for you, you will be missing out on an extremely well made and enjoyable one just the same. i have been playing SWTOR for quite some time now, and i can say i havent run across any VO based quests that are kill X of Y. there are loads of bonus quests that you stumble on just by killing mobs that give you that sort of quest.... but they are meant to be bonus XP just for exploring and killing mobs as you go.
finally... i would not say SWTOR is a gear driven experience at all.... the game establishes very early that you are playing the game to experience a storyline, not grind for gear. considering mods allow you to buff gear up and keep it for longer periods of time, i think that pretty well establishes that the devs do not intent to force players to gear grind. you run dungeons to experience the story.... gears is the bonus "thank you" for completeing your objectives.

I Agree, they give cattle what they ask for. But what would you expect from a game within another boring game. A mmo within the real life mmo called "prision planet" i think version 5. NWO is the coming expansion pack, i think. roflmao!
The quests in real life game are the same repetitive crap: go to newbs school, go to college, get a job, get a wife, breed for the empire, worship the same fake god, work like a slave till you get sick and die. over and over...
So, sounds like another game for the masses, for the clattle and the sheeple.
Of course the corporations only cares bout money and more money.
But Shhhh! dont say anything... sheeple will kill you to defend their masters.

Speaking of hypocritical, I'm waiting for all the people who were in the negative topics that were a paragraph or two...
... the topics where people said 'I don't like this game' and gave a paragraph or so of reasons. There were a lot of people who said those people were trolling, that you can't form a meaningful opinion after just a beta weekend or two, and that their opinion was meaningless. ... and they also said they'd come around and tell people with positive views that were so short the same sort of thing.
I think if people were more honest with themselves, they'd admit they only dislike short paragraph impressions from people who disagree with them.
I have no problem with your views one way or the other. YOu like SW:tOR... cool. Lots of people who agree with you. I just dislike that a lot of people were claiming they were dismissing negative impressions solely because they were brief and uninformed, not because they were negative impressions.
... yet not a single one of those people is over here telling you to shut up until you've played the game for 6 months. (Or accusing you of trolling because you gave an incomplete impression, and didn't go point by point, explaining exactly why things are good... or accusing you of being heavily biased because you didn't point out all the bad things to go with the good.)

Very fair of you. I agree to be honest, a lot of bias towards the game, I don't like where others FORCE their opinions onto others, I've seen it on the WoW Forums, on here, on the SWtoR forums and Massively pages. If someone doesn't agree, they don't agree dont call them a troll or clueless, etc.
I won't lie though, I can't see me playing this game after Guild Wars 2, I'll be surprised if it lasts me past then, as I'm sure the shine will wear off, as it's great with the story and it does coat up the boring quests nicely, but it isnt built on great MMO foundations.

GW2 isnt exactly doing "new" things either.... it is the same quest based gameplay, with random events and public quests. Trust me, you have played GW2 before.... just not all in the same game. Nothing is really new in games anymore. Every game i play has elements that i can identify from other games.
but if it is fun... who cares? fun is fun. why does it always have to be new to be fun?
The videos are awesome and the game seems to be quite polished for what it is, but thats about it.
I haven't believed the people saying that at the end of the day its WOW with lightsabers, but in fact it just feels like. Plus those screaming colors everywhere, paired with low-res textures (i'm playing max settings incl. AA on 1920x1080).
Most of all: the animations are RIDICULOUS. Watching my character "run" and "jump" at first i couldn't believe my eyes, as it looked like alpha or placeholder animation. But then how she sat down...omg.
Come on, the game may have it's appeal to some and it's ok...but don't you people see how plain bad the animations are?? Combat may be ok, but what's the point if i can't even watch my character run.
On a sidenote: They may have missed the memo that the ADHD audience they obviously cater to is in no way interested or remotely patient enough to follow through eternal dialogues scenes.
Game looks like 70% of the development' recources went into the production of videos and dialogues, the rest of the game got hammered together as an afterthought. They should have spend some money on the actual game instead on the media.
^^ Pretty much exactly what I was thinking - they must have sunk almost everything into the story / voice acting. The rest of the game is fair at best - the real GAME is fair at best.
SWToR is bascally a generic world of warcraft clone that is even more linear than world of warcraft, its like bioware made a single player game then decided to tack mmo elements to it. If your honestly expecting the game to be great your sorely mistaken. a Good game won't just copy 90% of itself from another one single game. Once I seen the combat videos of swtor I lost most interest in the game, far to generic and boring looking. The quests and vo just looks like an annoyence in a mmorpg. Companion system makes the game even less group oriented. As I said they pretty much made a single player game then tacked online elements into it. This is not a real mmorpg.
Also the pvp planet.. just made me go WTF?!? a series like star wars that has always had 2 factions fighting and we get only a ffa pvp planet? where you can even kill your own faction? what the hell is bioware thinking? There was a perfect opportunity for some faction vs faction pvp with faction wide bonuses based on land control totally wasted stupidly. Raiding will probally be just as utterly pointless as world of warcraft the game swtor copys almost all of it from. No point in my eyes to raiding for gear when you have no more real use for it, if you can pvp with it in some MEANINGFUL pvp key word here is meaningful, ffa pvp=pointless, unless its faction vs faction ffa and some perks and stuff with it like I mentioned earlier.
Being a pessimist is a win-win pattern of thinking. If you're a pessimist (I'll admit that I am!) you're either:
A. Proven right (if something bad happens)
or
B. Pleasantly surprised (if something good happens)

The first sentence is a completely accurate description of the game. I've seen other folks trying to gloss over these facts, but it's just wishful thinking. But it's their money to waste, and there are still people paying for some of the even poorer MMO offerings still floating around.

I am enjoying the game so far, it's fun for me, that's all that matters to me. Yes there is problems, but no game is every perfect. I am enjoying the Imperial agent, since so far I have done choices that have resulted in either light or darkside points to my character, which I never did in WOW. I be playing more once I get home from work, the only major problem was lag, but then again I excepted that since playing on a US Eastcoast server based in the EU.
