I like to believe those of us who play mainly RPGs and don't really call ourseleves "Gamers" have a little more intellegance, and thats were I think this guys problem is; SWTOR isn't 733T enough for him.
Well, he states his opinion and it's as valid as any other. The fact that he says "try it for yourself" makes me think that he is aware that his taste is very specific and that one might not be bothered by some of the things he dislikes or might not feel that the things he dislikes are valid to them.
Yeah, I don't expect everyone to like SW:TOR. I don't expect SW:TOR to beat WoW. Star Wars is too polarizing a franchise for that, and honestly, there's a lot of glitches and bugs that I really hope they iron out before release in just 20 something short days.
wow just wow. no really.........WoW is EXACTLY what the swtor fanbase reminds me of and its not even out yet. reason enough for me to not get the game.
I just do not htink he has that system he speaks of, because there is no way that it will only do 35 fps , like in my previous post it just cant, and do not get me wrong I am not going to play this game, I dislike its graphics and themepark but I think I know a lie when I hear/see one.

I played WoW for 6 years, played Rift for a couple months and well every other single MMORPG in existance almost.
I was soooooo sick and tired of the combat mechanics and when i saw how SWTOR played i was like ew no im done with that. I still wanted to actually play it and see for myself exactly what was so different and im really glad i did.
Im shocked at how impressed i am by this game. The combat is fast paced and fun, its basically the same combat mechanics as WoW and Rift and such except its far more fast paced. Im not fighting one single mob for 30-60 seconds, im fighting 12 mobs in 30 seconds starting out anyways. Im barely level 10 but its definitely a wonderful start.
I love the story and how every quest even if it can be considered miniscule actually has a real story to it.
I definitely need to play it more but i am insanely delighted and impressed with how the game starts out, i really was not expecting it to be so fun and cool.

I got a phenom 2 x4 965 and 8gb ddr3 and 560 ti and get over 100fps, but you only get 35fps on a system more powerful?
to me you eather lied about your system or never even played the game just watched youtube vids.
I find the game really good and im now level 10 and enjoyed it so far with questing and combat, at moment i just cant wait to get my own ship as i hate all the walking you have to do lol but the game is very stable even for a stress test.
I have a 5870 1gb, AMD Phenom X6 1090T at stock settings, and 8 gb of RAM, and my performance is all over the map. I get anywhere from 20-70 FPS. It's usually around 20-40.
I felt the opposite if what you did. Also, my system is not nearly as good as yours and I ran it fine on ultra with no lag. Maybe something is up with your system.
Also, I thought the game looked fine on ultra and the animations were good. The cover system doesn take you out of the action at all, just press f and you roll into cover, imo it feels more actiony then just standing around shooting.

You do remember that SWTOR is in beta right? Its possibly they have fine tuned the animations already. And I've played games with good animations and SWTORs seem just fine.
If your used to more "action" games then why are you even bothering with MMO's? I think of the currently released games, SWTOR's combat is only less actiony to maybe AoC.

He has a system that isn't common and the developers clearly haven't finished optimizing the game. Stop commenting on his systems specs, you don't know what you're talking about.

One word for those who are willing to buy the game "try it before u buy it.It may save u some money especially if u have preordered the collectors just like me.
The only reason i tried the beta was to see if those150 euro really worth it.
I played 2 characters a smuggler and a bounty hunter
What i didnt like about the game:
Character movement animations are awful
graphics are not very good even on ultra
Gameplay is not fun u shoot with guns but it doesnt play like 3rd person shooter it plays like meh...it's not fun
Smugglers cover system is not fun and it doesnt work well.Furthermore it looks out of action.
it didnt give me the feeling that i was advancing in lvls
Performance of the game is very very very poor even on my system i had 35 fps outdoors.Indoors was better but im not playing the game only for indoors.They may improve that but i dont think there will be much of improvement.

So, you do not like it because
A - The performance is not as good as you have hped.
B- Because combat is no FPS like and it is RPG like
C- Because it is Story based.

I this the performance can be tweaked, this is always the case with games that are launching. There are always things to do to make things better and it simply cannot be done during devellopment because they cannot account for allthe different Hardware on all the different Countries etc..
Game was develloped in the US, they use 110V outlets there, you are in Europe you use 220V outlets, they did not test it of Computers brought in from Europe I am sure....lol.
The point is, this can get fixed and usually does.
On B, this is a long shot, they could probably do what STO did and change dthe Ground Combat system to make it more FPS like...but do not forget, TOR is aimed primarilly to KOTOR fans and it was not an FPS game.
On C, well I was affraid of this, and have been expressing my disagreement. But this has been Boiowares Holy Grail since the announcement of this Title...They beleive it is one of the Pillars of what makes a Successfull MMO.
As far as I am concerned, I am very eager to go home and try this title to see at which point and after how much time playing I will start skiping Dialog...if that part fails...this could be bad for everyone Invlved in the project, we already knew that Lucas Arts did not have it in them to make an MMO (they destroyed SWG with their Iconic NGE)...but now they will drag down Bioware with em.

its the games fault the game uses like 30% gpu on average its Not enough wow had this issue when i was messign with it when i had my 4850 i have a 5850 now also chronicles of spellborn would only use like 40% of the 4850 gpu and it ran like crap or just ok they never fixed it.
Its not ati amd fault drivers might fix it but i doubt it its a engine issue

I dont know why FPS guys keep playing MMOS, just to trolling i guess. Im a MMO veteran, and today was my 1st swtor beta, without a single doubt tor will be the best MMO in the market, the game is just amazing and the PvP is a blast. i didnt even notice than i was actually grinding, and the combat is fast, fun and dynamic, the game is even better playing with friends. BW did a great job with this game, and the hype will be even bigger after this weekend

I think most of your negativity springs from performance and trying to liken an mmo to single player game .

I don't see how you could have been "waiting on this game for 2 years", when it was only a couple of weeks ago that you posted on this forum that these MMO games are boring, and that you were waiting on Skyrim and Diablo 3. You keep jumping into MMORPG threads to promote Diablo 3. If you dislike MMORPG's so much, avoid them. If Diablo 3 is what you want to play so badly, wait for it.
I'm not sure why you expected a MMORPG to play like a shooter. Most people that are looking to play this will be expecting typical MMORPG type game play. Comparing an MMORPG to a FPS (or even TPS) game is like comparing apples to oranges. They are nothing alike.
My system is nowhere as good as yours, and I play with no lag, other than the occasional lag spike. And, no matter how good your system is, network lag could always be a factor. Besides, you will always have more lag in beta due to all the additional tracking software they have running.
I'm going to have to disagree with you on the cover system. it is fun and it works very well. Smuggler and Imperial Agent are two of my favorite classes.

What? I see people say that while still being gw2 fanboys as well. Likely he/she is not happy with current gen of MMO and was looking forward to a non MMO to take their time till new MMO come out like gw2,AA, and even swtor.

It's so funny, there seems to be a split faction about the BETA... some peopel think the aniations and combat (and tons of other things) are great, while others think they're garbage.
Personally, I'm with you. The game right now is crap. AND I WANTED TO LOVE THIS GAME!

I don't know about you but I play all types of games. I like to be entertained and games is where I find that entertainment. There have been FPS's that i liked and some that I hated, same goes for side scrollers, SP's, and mmo's.

I expected something better from BW, I guess its true that the best developers at BW left a long time ago.

My system is nowhere as good as yours, and I play with no lag, other than the occasional lag spike. And, no matter how good your system is, network lag could always be a factor. Besides, you will always have more lag in beta due to all the additional tracking software they have running.
I'm going to have to disagree with you on the cover system. it is fun and it works very well. Smuggler and Imperial Agent are two of my favorite classes.
What? I see people say that while still being gw2 fanboys as well. Likely he/she is not happy with current gen of MMO and was looking forward to a non MMO to take their time till new MMO come out like gw2,AA, and even swtor.You are trolling
Philosophy of MMO Game Design
It's so funny, there seems to be a split faction about the BETA... some peopel think the aniations and combat (and tons of other things) are great, while others think they're garbage.
Personally, I'm with you. The game right now is crap. AND I WANTED TO LOVE THIS GAME!
I mean truly, I'd rather go back to EQ ONE than play this (which I probably haven't played in 7+ years).
I've already written enough threads about how this game isnt' gonna be what people think (except the diehards God Bless em and fanbois who will NEVER find anything wrong with it) so, not gonna go on anymore in this one.
Just wanted to lend my voice an say yer not alone in crushed expectations.
I don't know about you but I play all types of games. I like to be entertained and games is where I find that entertainment. There have been FPS's that i liked and some that I hated, same goes for side scrollers, SP's, and mmo's.
On Topic:
I expected something better from BW, I guess its true that the best developers at BW left a long time ago.
