Mortal Online Sword of Tears Event

There's this game I play, Mortal Online, its a strictly first-person, open world sandbox MMORPG made by a Swedish company StarVault. I do some artwork for the GMs when they're running events. Currently they have a very special one coming up and I'm linking the thread announcing that event here to help GM Theia generate some more buzz (and also I the drawings so there's a bit of self promotion in this you'll have to forgive me for.)

If you've never heard of us, give us a look-- If you've only heard the negative stuff consider giving us a re-look. We're small but we have a really dedicated, passionate community, very hardworking support staff, and more generally a really interesting, beautiful and engaging world with realism, complexity and grit.

Anyways, here's the link:

Kudos for MO team. Just one thing, sandbox is not full pvp and full loot, sandbox is much more than that.

We agree - There is a huge PVE patch coming in the New Year - to give you the scale of this - they will be in lock-down for the next couple of months focusing 90% of their time on the AI Coding re-write.

That is not to say that other elements of AI are not very well advanced - they are.

So with TC bedding in and the server (frankly) going to War at the moment - this is a very exciting time for us.

We had our first Server message to the whol population reporting on the Elimination of a Guild ( O.o ) -- So a keep was sieged and destroyed!

I for one feel that we've turned a Corner! The whole team is pumped!

More news on Vets Rewards Soon

    Thanks

Kind of think its a bit odd I didn't die yet I lost still. They should had just put us both in different rounds and called it a tie, that would had been fair, oh well. Goodluck everyone

Please make the rules more clear next time. time limits etc. its just a tad unproffessional

Guess SV has a different definition of Last Man Standing than I do...

From what I understand... the first match was 40 minutes long (just 6 people fighting) and everyone fell asleep.  So they put a timer on later matches and "the guy with the most HP left" at the end would win...

Then add on the fact that they said noone could work together, but you had guildies in the same groups of 6 that would run right past their near dead guildie and/or double team someone.   No action taken although every spectator can clearly see what is happening.  Spectators in the stream are quite upset.

     Is this a joke??

So with TC bedding in and the server (frankly) going to War at the moment - this is a very exciting time for us.

Actually only 2 factions are building towers the rest are not waiting for SV to fix or balance them.

We had our first Server message to the whol population reporting on the Elimination of a Guild ( O.o ) -- So a keep was sieged and destroyed!

There has been many keeps destroyed and none of them should be a server messege.

How is this even the TC patch came out like the rest of SV patches all major features bugged or duisabled at time of patch.  The Focus Group leader himeslef admitted his guild is not building towers because he knnew from testing they are not working properly.,

+1 for actually having an event.

But the rules kept changing.  I saw a lot of people get robbed.  I do not understand how they were picking winners.  It was ran rather poorly.

I think the concept and main organization was nice, I really love what you try to do Theia, but the execution was quite poor and the decisions seemed rather random and unfair. But anywyay, I'm glad stuff like this is organized regardless, but you should put more thought into the practicality and execution.

We were laughing in the chat.  The GM would announce "2 MINUTES LEFT" and we would literally see 3:43 go by before they stopped the match  declared a winner.  Guess they had to make sure that "their guy" had a chance to use a potion and heal to have the most HP when they stopped it.

Really... REALLY bad way to run an event.

Think this is the last event hosted by GM who dont enforce their rules i will ever go to.

There was a clear no teamwork or else kill and port to jungle.

In most fights guildmates teamed up with eachothers and tried to get rid of everyone else.

Its BS, unproffessional and retarded that its allowed to happen when the rules are clearly stated before the event.

Pretty bad when a guy from AI says it was a fail event..

Indeed this is what happened in almost all fights. Gms should be aware of current politics with guilds as well. As there were alot of cooperation with allied guilds involved as well.

I think it's farly unanimous that the event from start to finish was a failure.  Many, MANY are vowing to never attend another GM run event.  Here is one example of a major guild:

you crashed from the loot bug, because you ran in for the loot greedily. Shame the bug exists but its not like you didnt know about it or how to avoid it.

what would you rather i posted? that it was completely SV's fault for having the bug still ingame and you did exactly what was needed because you ran in fully aware of the bugs existance and what AQ would likely do to you as you greedily looted the loot instead of attacking aq?

it does suck the bug is ingame, sv should of fixed it ages ago and yes the bug is annoying. But he palys the game fully aware of the state of it, he isnt a noob who happened to of stumbled across this bug. He has known of its existance for a long time and expects other veterans to feel sympathy for him? if an aq had died at that point we wouldnt of raged or threatened to quit because we know exactly how to avoid it just like teddybear.

There was this game I played for 15 days. It was called Mortal Online. I purchased a digital copy and subscription; dropped about 40 USD on it. I was accused of Speedhacking and Forcibly causing another player's death. The GM told me that I would be banned for 7 days, but instead it turned out that I was permanently banned from the game. To this day, I do not regret being FALSELY accused and banned from the piece of sh*t. StarVault is a terrible company, and Mortal Online is an incomplete excuse of a game.

I pray for the swift and unmerciful death of Mortal Online. Or if the company sold the game to a different developer...I'd give it another shot.

I bet a lot of players would have liked to have a chance competeing in this "event" but were unable to have access to big pots as they were removed from game, and horded and duped by major guilds.

GJ on hosting an event where only players with bugged potions had a chance. Everyone with big potions essentially had more hp than everyone else, as these potions do not apply to cooldown or thirst.

What is all this talking about a rule against teaming in a FFA fight I hear everyone talking about? Surely none can be so naive and unaware of gamers psychology to really think it's a good rule that would work? I mean seriously, the entire game is a heavily guild based PvP deathmatch and you expect people NOT to teamup against others in a FFA?

Frankly, I am not only surprised over that someone thought members of a guild wouldn't team up, but also that the event again was yet another FFA/Team fight. Really? Is a more story driven and PvE experince forbidden to explore into, hopefully avoiding all the issues which come with so many people fighting in on area. For once, I thought that caravan escort event some time back was something interesting in contrast to constant PvP events.

But hey, at least as someone pointed out the name was indeed fitting - there were swords and afterwards tears on the forums :P

Happens to me all the time on this site and not just in the MO section. It is how they moderate. Agree or disagree but it has nothing to do with MO specific.

Actually it is %100 SV's fault that the bug is not fixed.  I agree it has been there for ages, it has even been a way to dupe a couple times.  Instead of adressing the bug they put a timer on it and call it a day.  Instead of introducing more content that takes months to fix.  FIX THE FOUNDATION!!!!  You know what everyone has been saying forever...

I think it has to do with personal attacks on community members being less tolerated then discussions (even negative ones) aimed at a game/company. Makes sense to me imho.

To follow your analogy... the MO train hasn't stopped going by.  It is just one long trainwreck in slow motion! image

Who would like to see something move in slow motion for almost 2 years? Slow motion is cool when you see it for a few seconds. Overdoing slow-motion is never good. Ask John Woo. That just ain´t healthy.

And about the event. It wasn´t the best one, but at least it was a step in the right direction. SV learns each time they hold a event like this. You can´t expect it to work fluently from the get go. Next time it will work out alot better. No doubt about it. And at least the GMs are doing SOMETHING. Even if the event it self wasn´t that good. I give them two thumbs up for the effort.
