im afraid to haters white its not ok to like this game . to them they are the only ones qulified to tell us waht we can or cant like or play
IM a bit tired fo there calling us every name in the book because we had fun in tor. Im tired of beign called simple minded for likeing tor
IM tired of there lies which are to many to list that they tell about tor.
The truth is if u like this game to people u are naive simpleton who doesnt deserver the right to chhoose the game up lay
They should be allowed to tell us what to play and not and if we defy them they should be allowed to make sure the game in canceld so no one can play it because only they know what a fun and good game really is.
Calm down. You just need to step away I think. Quite simply, you are not impressed with the game so you blame everyone else for not being as hard on it as you. It's OK to not like it. It's also ok to like it.
Hate to wade into this one, but remember all the Star Trek fans up in arms because STO wasn't what they wanted? In that case, they were probably the majority and STO didn't do as good as it should have. I think here you are in the minority.
And its my fear this game will go the way of STO as well. I said it over and over I do NOT want this game to fail I want a good quality star wars game that we can enjoy for years to come. But right now(and yes my opinion) this game has a shelf life of maybe 6 months and again in my opinion feel bioware needs more feedback other than people saying how perfect this game is cause they love the dialog and find once the dialog parts are old and stale there isn't really much to fall back on
A huge name creates a MMO.. has a vision to make something new. Beta gets pretty good marks, Lord British supporters flock to the game calling it the next big MMO with so many new and exciting ideas. Game is released and it flops. Now the fact that this is in the Star Wars Universe automatically warrants a few million in sales look how much Episode I made in the theaters(really need to say more?) I'm sad to admit I will play cause it's good enough to play but just because it's star wars. If this was another no-name world game it would tank just like tabula rasa. Read some beta reviews from Tabula
a lot of similar points made in these previews that I see in ones for this game..
now before everyone gets all bent out of shape I do wish this game to be a success but I feel bioware needs to pick up the pace and add a ton of stuff before it feels like a MMO of even this generation let alone next....
It's my OPINION if enuogh people don't start giving some good critical feedback not enough changes to the game are going to be made and the game will tank and this really is NOT what i want
So your post says its TR all over again except its not? I played TR for a while and it was terrible. I'm not playing SWTOR but its far from as bad as TR ever was. I think TOR's biggest problem is everyone that expects it to be something other than what it claimed.
ANYONE who bothered looking at TOR knew before they pre-ordered exactly what they where getting. Thoes people wont expect anything more than what TOR said it would offer and they will enjoy it.

But that starts from the premise that the people that rate the game at excellent are not giving feedback.
Just because you really enjoy the game doesn't mean you aren't going to give feedback durring a beta on how to improve it even more. Or just tell the Devs about bugs.
Thats what beta forums are for, fixes and suggestions, but if you were in the closed beta you would also take note of the overwhelming positive opinion given when BioWare asked for focus testing. Overall negative opinions were very few and far between.
Seeing as I'm still in beta, the forums are still pretty light on "critical" posts in comparison to positive ones.

4203 people out of the millions said to play is hardly an indication of how the masses will view this game come release and months after. We shall see though
Why not?
I'm not so shure what you are trying to say, if you underlying statement is that the game is worse or alot worse, perhaps even horrible. Why have so few of those 4203 voted below 7?
Why would there be any reason to believe that almost none of those "millions said to play" that dislike the game is not visition the forum nor voting in that poll?

You obviously are/were not on the official forums site. It's not exactly friendly to indipendent thinking, actually quite hostile to differning opinions, and thats just the moderators. The forum goers on that site, whewwwwwwwwwwwwww.

very true but not in all cases and sometimes giving people examples of issues you have can influence others into giving feedback about the same or similar issues enabling the devolopers to get even more feedback and perhaps move things along faster.

like said in a post above me polls on official forums are a lot of times jaded by blind follows that will give high marks to a game no matter how bad it is(not saying the game is terrible just making an example)
yet another version of a doom and gloom post.....sigh
***Fires plungers at Doom and gloomers!***
All my opinions are just that..opinions. If you like my opinions..coolness.If you dont like my opinion....I really dont care. Playing: ESO, WOT, Smite, and Marvel Heroes
How many times have you heard this about swtor "But, IT'S a REALLY GOOD GAME"?
I hear it all the time and i completely agree and is why I'm buying it for my kids. It's probably is a really good game, but it's not a really good mmo. Thinking about it i rarely hear "But, IT'S a REALLY GOOD MMO."
Already reading posts on forums that people don't plan to stick around past 3 months anyway, what kind of an mmo is that?
I almost agree with you there.
I find it to be a really good game, and it has really good, well defined MMO features... but it isn't a really good virtual world.
It IS a really good Massively Multiplayer Online GAME. You group up or play with thousands of other players, but still.... to me at least, its a very poor virtual world.
to me its the "world" that brings you into the story. Why play in a story with a dead world? I have tried to not rehash the same what needs to be fixed comments cause its already been posted but this is one of my biggest issues with the game. The lifeless world detracts from the story so much it makes the whole concept hard to swallow.
The world has more life in it then most MMOs, but the point of me saying this is a game and not a virtual world is simply due to classes, area and progression design, naming conventions - amongst other things.
The world is a lot more vibrant and engrossing than SWG was by far, but with the limits in place, the similar companions, and things of that nature, you can lose part of the immersion, but you retain a great game thats fun to play.
Not every game needs to immerse you to be fun. Arkham City for example, really immerses you. You feel like you are in the world....as Batman... however, games like Dungeon Defenders pulls you out of the world, and makes you feel like you're playing a really fun game. Both awesome games. Both games have done very well. One is much more immersive. Theres nothing wrong with that.
It just feels far too contrived. Immersion is not a feature of this game for me.
Yes, that's a bit of an exaggeration, but it's not too far from how it feels to me.
A sure sign that you are in an old, dying paradigm/mindset, is when you are scared of new ideas and new technology. Don't feel bad. The world is moving on without you, and you are welcome to yell "Get Off My Lawn!" all you want while it happens. You cannot, however, stop an idea whose time has come.
all I have been doing is giving examples of how I feel certain feedback towards the game will improve it(in my opinion) in the long run and keep people playing for more than a month or so. You couldn't care less about that stuff but many do. Why is your opinion more valued than mine? its not, no ones is but the masses opinion does count. Unlike most of these other doom and gloom posts I'm not advocating this game is terrible. I admit I have a pre-order and will play at launch. I'm trying to improve this game by encouraging people to post more constructive feedback. Sorry if people feel I'm just trolling here but never have I attacked anyone(although many have attacked me) or said anything like this game is a pile of s*it and no one should play it EVER. Just speaking from 20+ years of gaming experience and trying to get the community to improve a game I really want to succeed.
Presentation is key, and I'll freely admit i missed any and all attempts you've made to offer feedback, I've only noticed your attempts to solidfy your own opinion. As well as your attempts to paint TOR as another TR or STO.
I've offered a ton of feedback in game through the many surveys I've filled out over the months I've been in CB. As well as in the many threads Bioware has created to ask for peoples opinions of the game from feature to feature.
I've seen many additions as well as changes made due to the feedback they've received.
If you want to offer feedback IMO you're going about it the wrong way. Your approach thus far has done nothing but stir the proverbial pot.

actually getting the word out is key.. presentation doesn't matter much. There's a good first impression video posted few days ago that had actual game footage showing many of the issues regarding the game and even he was bashed up and down because he actually had critical feedback. Glad you have been giving feedback and hopefully others will continue to follow suit

...why should not those people vote?
Even if there are jaded follower, people that praise this game above all and will fight to their death against anyone mentioning anything negative about the game, no matter how little the thing would be.
Those that dont have this game as their next religion still have same access to the voting. Still you see so few of those.
If your answer would to explain a question about (all of the eventual) positive threads/post I could see it as an answer, but for this as it is a vote it really is not an answer to the question asked.
this is definitely not t-rasa all over again, and before i say more, in defense of t-rasa, Garriot was "hamstrung" and not given the time or resources to make t-rasa the way he wanted to.
sw:tor is a good game, will be fun & very playable at launch, the few issues it does have will probably need abolut a year to get all the polishing it needs completed but it is "street ready", in a manner of speaking, imo.

I'm referring to the way your thread has turned. I haven't seen you before today so maybe you're new around these parts, but this is a touchy forum like any other here, people are easily stirred (to put it lightly). In most cases it's best to create a topic with "kid gloves", if you want to avoid the drama and "get the word out". Starting it off with a comparison to a failed project (no matter what the intention) will have this result every time. Such is the way of things here.

@ CaZNeerg - yeh i tried a couple of other classes to but i didn't have the time to delve any deeper into it, but your right it didnt feel like a MMO just a bioware rpg... but i get that feeling with alot of games these days, people dont want to group its all about them and not working together, ohhh how i miss the EQ days where u HAD to group and talk to strangers to get things done and not get everything handed to you on a platter for that sparkly powerful weapon or armor... gone are those days (sorry forgot to quote)
I was actually saying it as a positive. I've been taught by experience to associate "MMO" with "brief moments of intense fun broken up by long, long stretches of boring grindiness." TOR on the other hand, at least so far, is all fun with no grind. It's refreshing to find an MMO that is actually designed to be fun, the way games are supposed to be, not designed to feel like a job that you pay to go to.
O yehh i know you were i was just adding to the conversation thats all and i do agree with you its gonna be fun for the most part with the journey to end game with all the story and not much grind... but thats only gonna take u what a month? 2 if your lucky? MMO's in my eyes are spose to be something going on everytime you log in, if its your guild or unfortunily a grind to get more funds... and i just dont see that in TOR
The reports I've heard are that the endgame content is actually pretty good, but even if it isn't, it will be a long time before it matters for me. Will I probably be able to finish one story within a month? Sure. But that leaves seven more. And since there are multiple options in every conversation, with dark and light flavors to explore, after the first eight characters are finished, then come the next eight to see the other side of the same stories. TOR is a going to accomplish something no MMO I am aware of has ever accomplished before; making it fun to have more than two characters.
thats all well in good having 8 different story lines... but with the breed of the MMO players coming through nowdays they wont wanna hang around and watch all that dialog... its all about the gear and we have WoW to thank for that... now im all for a good story.. but i can see it now and i see it in my little sister when she plays wow shes doesn't watch all the Cinamatics or cut sceens or read the quests she just presses the esc press asap... and i can see its gonna happen with TOR kids wont wanna sit around and hear all the dialog they'll just press the light ot dark sides and try and get through the content asap
and that's what the spacebar is for
Currently playing SWTOR and it's MUCH better than it was at launch.
Original Poster is just wrong. I had my first taste of beta over Thanksgiving weekend and the bottom line is whether it was a Star Wars game or not, it was a lot of fun. And that's what Tabula Rasa apparently lacked.
And episode 1 was not a horrible movie. Was it great? No but as far as Sci-fi movies go, I think it was decent.
I'm scarred for life after being subjected to Jar Jar Binks - George Lucas is a cruel, cruel man

any game forum is the same.. true I haven't been posting here long but Ib een part of forums for years upon years. One thing you ALWAYS see in these sort of forums is good constructive posts get like 100 hits and 1 or two replies but threads with titles like WORST GAME EVER! will get 50 pages of replies. What he means to say here is not to post anything but glowing, shiny, happy reviews of the game or you will be attacked by hoards of kids who spent one beta weekend testing it and decided it's the best game ever created.
I was part of TR beta, and a part of SWTOR beta. Of course, I can only speak to my own experiences.
In the TR beta, I walked away and uninstalled after a couple hours. It was easy to do, and I felt no surprise when I heard the released game flopped.
In the SWTOR beta, I could not stop playing. I didn't want to like this game - it sounded like yet another WoW clone bogged down with dialogue trees. And it is that, but not in a bad way; actually, in a very good way.
So, if the OP's premise is that SWTOR will follow TR because of similar beta experiences, I disagree. I believe it will offer many people a very good gaming experience.
However, I wouldn't predict anything about long-term lasting appeal. I wonder what will hold a player once they reach level 50 and presumably, the end of their character's story. BioWare needs an innovative replacement when the very thing that make SWTOR special - the story-telling - is suddenly no longer there for the player's character. (Legacy doesn't cut it.) Am I going to have to wait every month for the next content patch to get another 4 - 8 hours of story-telling? I'm not sure I can stomach another late-night raid & gear-grind track, for the rest of the month.

said it before but I was never trying to actually compare the games themselves to eachother but I agree with your last paragraph it's the long term I'm the most worried about. I have been wanting a star wars game I could spend more than a few months on and just really don't see it here unless some big changes are added
I don't see the OPs point though. I think SWToR will do just fine and they will hopefully crank out the content too, why not
Twizted26's post right above yours is an example of the point I'm trying to make...
Noted, I guess I approach every game for what it is. I don't plan to race through SWToR, I plan to take my time, lolligag, smell the roses. I feel no rush to reach max level, actually I am not sure what max level is but I assume either 40 or 50 :P
I like the journey and to me this game looks like it will have a nice journey. They should be making enough $$ off the box sales and launch to immediately be able to put some resources into big expansion(s), so I am not overly worried if the initial world is not super massive. It will grow over time?
A big difference between SWToR and TR is the funds available, this goes for a lot of MMOs that come out now though. It is far more competitive and perhaps a big IP like Star Wars and a good company like Bioware can make an MMO that does grow over time and always "tries" to improve. That is really all I ask for them to do.

wish there are were "roses" to smell in a sense. I'm hoping for this though and it will be huge for them if they can one up rift and put out large content updates every other month. With the money they are going to make just from initial launch it would be a pretty big kick in the face if they don't though

I'm so broke. I can't even pay attention.
"You have the right not to be killed"

All my opinions are just that..opinions. If you like my opinions..coolness.If you dont like my opinion....I really dont care.
Playing: ESO, WOT, Smite, and Marvel Heroes
It just feels far too contrived. Immersion is not a feature of this game for me.

Yes, that's a bit of an exaggeration, but it's not too far from how it feels to me.
A sure sign that you are in an old, dying paradigm/mindset, is when you are scared of new ideas and new technology. Don't feel bad. The world is moving on without you, and you are welcome to yell "Get Off My Lawn!" all you want while it happens. You cannot, however, stop an idea whose time has come.

That is true, I'm not reading the official forums nor post there.
And I assume you are right.
But still...
...why should not those people vote?
Even if there are jaded follower, people that praise this game above all and will fight to their death against anyone mentioning anything negative about the game, no matter how little the thing would be.
Those that dont have this game as their next religion still have same access to the voting. Still you see so few of those.
If your answer would to explain a question about (all of the eventual) positive threads/post I could see it as an answer, but for this as it is a vote it really is not an answer to the question asked.
I'm so broke. I can't even pay attention.
"You have the right not to be killed"
this is definitely not t-rasa all over again, and before i say more, in defense of t-rasa, Garriot was "hamstrung" and not given the time or resources to make t-rasa the way he wanted to.
sw:tor is a good game, will be fun & very playable at launch, the few issues it does have will probably need abolut a year to get all the polishing it needs completed but it is "street ready", in a manner of speaking, imo.
Such is the way of things here.

and that's what the spacebar is for
Currently playing SWTOR and it's MUCH better than it was at launch.

any game forum is the same.. true I haven't been posting here long but Ib een part of forums for years upon years. One thing you ALWAYS see in these sort of forums is good constructive posts get like 100 hits and 1 or two replies but threads with titles like WORST GAME EVER! will get 50 pages of replies. Could I have gone with a more tastefull title or better way to get things going? yes of course but sure that would of gotten 50 views and no replies so why bother? sad but true... and i'm sure ill just get called a troll for that but I'm not just trying to "stir the pot" if you will I'm trying to get people thinking maybe some changes or feedback they may not of thought about needs to be put out there for this game to be more than a 3 month hit..

What he means to say here is not to post anything but glowing, shiny, happy reviews of the game or you will be attacked by hoards of kids who spent one beta weekend testing it and decided it's the best game ever created.
You're 100% correct, just about anything that does not stir-up some controversy is ignored here, sad but true.
For every minute you are angry , you lose 60 seconds of happiness."-Emerson
said it before but I was never trying to actually compare the games themselves to eachother but I agree with your last paragraph it's the long term I'm the most worried about. I have been wanting a star wars game I could spend more than a few months on and just really don't see it here unless some big changes are added
http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/339443/Video-FollowUp-Guide-For-Enhancing-Graphics-and-Performance-in-SWTORSorry-still-Nvidia-Only.html

Are you seriosuly comparing Tabula Rasa to SWTOR? lol.
I beta tested both and honestly it's like comparing a rock to a diamond.
