very true but with 135 million dollars I really think they could of put something little better than what is going to be released

Yes, if they had spent 55 million more than they actually spent there probably could have been even more features.  Where did you pull that number from?

The thing is the space combat isnt bad. Its very pretty its fun its just on rails.

sure it s not a full fledged space go anywhere space thingy but its fun for what it is. I think if people just playd games and didnt put what they thought a gaem shoudl be theyd have alot more fun doing them

gees people it was an addon due to players askng for some space when they never intended to add space and they did what they have in less then a yr.

I full expect space thing to be expanded cause there is alot of demand for it but play the space game for what it is or dont play it thats your choice its not a big deal as its a mni game not a huge part of the game ala flashpoints planets or things like that.

you can see here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Wars:_The_Old_Republic although obviously wiki isn't a very reliable source it has been estimated the total cost will be around 150 mil at launch. Also here http://www.forbes.com/sites/danielnyegriffiths/2011/11/28/star-wars-the-old-republic-the-business-in-the-beta/ saying overall development will surley exceed 100 mil

I editied my original post but tabula estimated about 100 mil total development cost just an FYI so guess money doesnt really mean quality heh.

I have to admit....the title of this thread made me lol.   I beta'd TR and I beta'd TOR.   The games are vastly different.  TR failed because of the bugs and lack of content.  TOR doesn't suffer from lack of content, and only encountered one bug during my playtime.  Vastly different scenarios.

According to the numbers EA gave their own investors, fairly recently, the game was coming in with a budget of 80 million for development, and 20 million for marketing.

all the 80 mil figures I have seen were projected earlier this year not recently

I actually encountered numerous bugs during my beta time last weekend. Got stuck about a dozen times just running down the road had to /stuck everytime which killed you until the recent patch. Also had several issues with the map not displaying information on numerous occasions as well as multiple issues with the camera panning to a wall during dialogs. Just cause you had only one bug doesn't mean everyone else was so lucky. i actually had less issues during my rift beta

The project crossed the 80 million mark in May 2011. Adding a bit, I could see 115 million including servers and advertising but not much more.

I played tor beta on 3 diffrent computers none ot them huge gaming rigs or even recent one of them is 5 yrs old. the game played great for me maybe u need to update your systerm if u kept bugging out after just walking

I did have my map bug out a few times but once i entered a new area it fixed itself pretty fast. That and the time the instance thing turned red before i got out of it where the only bugs i had in 2 beta weekends.

My hubby and I beta'd together.  The only bug we encountered was with the holocall (when you try to converse without actually being there)  No freezing.  No issues with the map. No issues with camera panning (unless we were holocalling).

Kind of Irony, really.  I encountered more issues in the Rift beta.

i'm running a intel 2600k, with 560 ti SC, SSD hd, and 8gb ram... really doubt its a system issue. Talked to many people who had the /stuck issue and the map issue as well
