Nobody cares why you cancelled your preorder, and people who stroke your e-go on here are just doing so because they are also trolls.
Fine, don't play the game, your lack of purchase won't be noticed.
I will, and i'll enjoy it, because the game is fun and it has some great story telling without the pages of text to read like every other mmo. (not that it matters why i'll play it, because my opinion is just as invalid as yours is, people shouldn't take what strangers have to say seriously at all, if something interests you don't let some a-hole try and convince you otherwise.)
Woot, glad this made it back into the top five. I was starting to feel strange without a Canceled Pre-order thread at the top. Need to keep bumping one of these so I don't go all cold inside.
The OP says it is "amazing game" and "the best MMO he has ever played", numerous times in fact. You have sadly missed what this thread is all about. It must be said from the very first post it was hard to guess what he was talking about but all becomes clear within a couple of pages.
I met a woman, she was beautiful, smart, and just that right amount of slutty, you know what I'm talking about....but....her parents kept talking about how much like her sister she is....I didn't like her sister.....so I dumped the woman.....

+1 to you good sir!
"If half of what you tell me is a lie, how can I believe any of it?"
Oh thank god. I was really at the edge of my seat wondering whether or not some random person was going to cancel their pre-order, and if they were... I just had to know why!
Isn't there another thread about someone cancelling a preorder that you could have posted this in? It would make it so much easier for all of us wondering to be able to go through a consolidated thread - so we know who and why, has cancelled.

The OP is saying that Dev commentary he read, seems to say that WoW is a baseline (which it frequently is) MMO design. To change it is to make a mistake. He (or she) doesn't want to support a company that doesn't want to 'change the rules'.
That said, if it is the greatest and most innovative game he (or she) has ever played and is not going to play it for the above reason...THAT makes not sense to me. If it were a company dumping toxic waste or using small cuddly animals for testing, sure. Boycott the live long day. But to say that you aren't going to play a game you (apparently) like and enjoy because it follows a basic design standard...*shrug*

I suppose a threesome was out of the question?
You know, I'd make some post about multiboxing, and the Mods would be beating with the ban hammer so fast my motherboard would fry....and seeings how I am at work, that would be a pain.....
Cool, good news. Hopefully they can bear that in mind when it comes to PC requirements, subscriber numbers, world design, humor, story and the ease that new players can get sucked in.
Studying your highly successful competitors, working out what makes them successful, and then tweaking it to make it better under your own universe and storyline is what intelligent designers do. Saying "lets forget the most successful MMO ever made and go the opposite direction" is a sure fire path to having the game cancelled or a ghostland or F2P in a years time. Just like every other MMO that tried it.
Well said! Saved me from typing
Currently playing SWTOR and it's MUCH better than it was at launch.
Wasn't the OP the guy who was raving about it last week? Anyway, it's obvious he still thinks the game is great, but even I have a friend who, regardless of gameplay, will not buy certain products because he doesn't respect the company behind them. I don't think I've ever personally done this, but it's one person's choice.. the mockery here regarding a decision you don't understand is pretty immature, starting way back on page 1.
Play what you want, cancel what you want, for whatever reason. If you change your mind, the game's not going anywhere for a while.
EDIT: Did I say pretty immature? God, some of these replies are abysmal and depressing.

Goof Luck !
I will admit that I find this nearly incomprehensible. If I enjoyed the game, unless the company traded in blood diamonds, slave labor or dumped chemicals into water supplies for poor villages I would still buy and play the game.
I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.
10 mil down from 13 mil and dropping.....Do you think that immature people see their servers drying up and in a panic, hit all the forums everywhere to badmouth all the new games in a futile attempt to save the POS game that they have invested all their time and money into?Notice they all say the same thing, "its just like Wow", in other word, "You might as well stay". Truth, ALL games are Frankenstiens of games before them... Would people do that? Would they badmouth to thwart the new guy at school. You betcha.....Their called fanbois.....Wow is by no means dead but the numbers are going south...Its lasted longer than many marriages but divorce is arround the corner and these lovers are in denial.......Cheers.
OP is right. Dan Hendrickson is subtly saying that SWTOR will follow the same development as WoW, he stated that for years, "Core features like traditional MMORPG's" When refering to features that WoW coined in the MMO industry.
Buuuut... It wont make me cancel my pre-order. Too bad that BioWare won't branch out SWTOR in an unique direction when it comes to the core gameplay, they will go with the "safe-card" being cloning WoW's end-game and the same changes WoW have gone through.
You are correct sir, though it will follow the same development as WoW the experience and how Bioware does their games will be all Star Wars and all Bioware. If you ask me they were pretty smart to go this route.

Wow... so if I'm understanding correctly, you think it's an "amazing" game, but they did alot of things like WoW did, so you're cancelling out of "principal"...
"Goof luck", indeed.
That reminds me. Mortal Online is kind of a crappy game. But it's not very much like WoW, so I think I'm gonna get a lifetime sub.
I find it interesting how people up hold principles when it come to video games. I wonder if they use similar principles in real life too? but gaming is much serious businesss i guess.
How many servers SWTOR will launch with on release?
ShredderSE - Umm how many do they need? Maybe 6. US, EU, Asian, France, German and Russian. Subs will be so low there is no need for more Snoocky-How many servers? The first 3 months a lot...after that 2 i guess, one for PVE and 1 for PVP...
Thorbrand - SWTOR doesn't have longevity at all. Might be one of the shortest lived MMOs.
That is hilarious. I like the game its the most amazing game I have played and because its similiar in ease of play like WoW I canceled my pre-order....LOL. Well I ordered one for my son and for a friend of mine this game rocks. So I figure my 3 to your 1 cancelation works out in their favor anyway.

Actually I can fully understand that decision.
I refuse to purchase any Bethesda game, no matter how good it is, untill they stop being complete dicks and trying to sue people for "Scrolls", "Morroblivion" and Interplay.
No matter how good Skyrim is, I'm not getting it. No matter how good Fallout 4 will be, I won't be getting it, and that might be the hardest decission, because I'm an absolute Fallout fanatic (I for one even found Fallout Tactics to be enjoyable).
In the same way I understand that the OP might not want to support a company that relies on metrics-driven design, if he finds that objectable. Just like I will never buy anything from Zynga even though Farmville is digital crack cocaine.
PS: Quite frankly I find this to be refreshing, people with consumer-awareness are hard to come-by these days.

I could understand if the principals involved revolved around the business practices of Blizzard. For instance if they sued smaller competitors out of existence rather than let them flourish and blatantly copy their business model, game style and other intellectual property. Except there's a really good example of a 'WoW, but free' in Runes of Magic. Blizzard did the opposite of every other company I've heard of when they became the monopoly in the market. I think they even treat their employees OK and they probably recycle.
I don't think there's anything wrong with not playing SWToR because it's patterned on a lot of the things that made WoW dominant in the market, even though you like the game. I just don't understand it.

I'm just a selfish, self centered guy as I will play it because I like it and don't care about who done what , how or why.
All I know is the game rocks and I cannot wait to play it.
