This game has moved far enough away not to be wow theres a thick story if you want to listen to all of it and different systems. Sure its similar to wow in the fact its an mmorpg, but its like calling a food category like suishi the new donuts. <shakes head and walks away>
So you love the game, you enjoy how it plays, but you dont like how they talk about WoW because WoW is the only major MMO to ever be released and many people try and recreate that feeling so they can easily transfer over to thier game? Makes no sense. If you actually ever played WoW you would understand why so many people try and recreate it. Its an amazing game, i was a hardcore raider in WoW and enjoyed the challenged i recieved. I raided BC up and finished all the content, inclduing hard modes, WoW has had to offer and couldnt be more happy with playing it. If you get into a good guild then you will enjoy the game, if your not that type of person then you wont enjoy it, you get what you put into a game. Im quiting WoW for this game only because i have been watching it the past 3 years, want to experience a game from the start for once, was a little late for WoW starting in BC, KOTOR being my favorite story lines i have ever experinced in a game. Im surpised you stuck around this long liking SWTOR since so many people say its just WoW to begin with, if your just going to listen to people then hey thats what you have to do. Me i actually played SWTOR and enjoyed the hell out of it, its missing something for me still, dont know what, but hopefully will be added and will make it my perfect game, everyone is different though.
OP is right. Dan Hendrickson is subtly saying that SWTOR will follow the same development as WoW, he stated that for years, "Core features like traditional MMORPG's" When refering to features that WoW coined in the MMO industry.
Buuuut... It wont make me cancel my pre-order. Too bad that BioWare won't branch out SWTOR in an unique direction when it comes to the core gameplay, they will go with the "safe-card" being cloning WoW's end-game and the same changes WoW have gone through.
Ordered to follow the guild... But seriously this game has huge issues in terms of animations, characters move like Legos that someone tried to animate using a micro engine. And also because, somehow, Bioware and Lucas altogether managed to soil half of Star Wars lore with this game + probably the worst world building in history of MMOs (a planet in SWTOR is about as linear as an instance in CoH/CoV/DCUO).
Other than that, the fact that u can join the servers as a guild is a good thing, even if EA brought no guarantee that it'll work in the disclaimer (great).
PvP has some good ideas (especially the badges thing that u get for playing ur role).
And finally it might be the only MMO where i wouldn't click like crazy to pass the quests text...
You're a Hardcore Survivor!
You not only survived the zombie apocalypse, but did it with style! Your mastery of zombie knowledge, survival tactics, and weaponry is nearly unmatched. Congratulations, for you are hardcore!

All that may be true but TOR=/=WoW.
TOR has an actual story, plots so on. Plus it's a real IP; it's called Star Wars, you might have heard of it.
Game will be OK, with or without the OP.

have you been to the open world planet s O_o. and id ont feel like im playing wow when i was testing swtor either except for the running back and force between npcs
Cool, good news. Hopefully they can bear that in mind when it comes to PC requirements, subscriber numbers, world design, humor, story and the ease that new players can get sucked in.
Studying your highly successful competitors, working out what makes them successful, and then tweaking it to make it better under your own universe and storyline is what intelligent designers do. Saying "lets forget the most successful MMO ever made and go the opposite direction" is a sure fire path to having the game cancelled or a ghostland or F2P in a years time. Just like every other MMO that tried it.

Lucas altogether managed to soil half of Star Wars lore with this game
Lucas "soiled" all over SW with the shitty prequels and the even shittier Clone Wars garbage.
TOR is a refreshing enema compaired to that utter nonsence.
Lucas is just trying to get the next generation of kiddies hooked on starwars.
Agreed.
Not to mention feeding his ever-expanding greed and ego, in that order.
Yes!!! Damn George Lucas! As a star wars fan I just wish he would stop feeding his wallet and his ego and quit making any more Star Wars games, TV shows or movies! How very dare he!
If anyone wants me I will be watching my Bluray boxset whilst reading the Admiral Thrawn trilogy and waiting for SWTOR to come out.

If anyone wants me I will be contributing to the demise of the real SW lore and waiting for SWTOR to come out.
Fixed for you.
I HATE when people do that, don't you?

LOL. Best reason ever.
PS: do you come from WoW? Their forum was the one full of "I cancelled" topics. Never understood the need to tell the world this kind of stuff.
Wasn't this the best thing ever and people were not allowed to speak negatively about it just a couple days ago
You can't fight gravy.
goof luck to you..

Maybe he lacks friends in RL to tell, i dunno.
And just to keep the force balanced in this thread I'm keeping my pre-order
I cancel my digital delux edition pre order before the beta.
I did not get the feeling I was playing wow, under the beta.
After the beta I managed to find my self a collectors edition of the game. No regrets atm

LOL I just noticed that OP's avatar is from the Clone Wars! That explains a lot!

It's all good. You just feel silly pre-ordering it again in couple days. "Oh maybe I was too quick on my actions".
Still having my Collector's Edition. Just verified I should have the physical box waiting in mail at 19th Dec.
The developers admire WoW?

I said to add some links cause I wanted to watch what tiped him over the edge to canceling.
Their is an awesome tool out there called Google. Stupid name I know but it just might work out for them.
Seriously, it's very well known that BW is modeling TOR after the better qualities of WoW.

But I see you found it was acceptable to watch Spaceballs at some point...odd.
