After months and months of feedback in beta about there needing to be more customization options, it STILL hasn't happened in game. I can't think of one other topic that got so much consistent beta feedback. And save me your arguments that there are x billion amount of combination choices - I have 4 body choices and a handful of premade faces to choose from.

Hmm yeah, c-creation isn't Swtor's best implemented feature it seems (along with the UI which they did promise to improve soonish).
But is it so bad that it severly impacts your gameplay experience?
I hope they will address it soon enough.
My brand new bloggity blog.
They have to keep it somple or there would be problems with things lining up in the cinematics that they put in for every quest.
Didn't pose a problem in other MMOs, nor with player made mods in DAO, DA2, etc.
Imo, the numerous examples where this is not the case, indicates that this claim is just a red herring.
Back in the day, you never even saw your character... today it's like everyone can't step away from the mirror.
'Wait, mean old angry evil thing, I need to adjust my hair before I engage in combat!'
Depends if you want emmersion or not. People like their character to be unique. It's bad enough we all run around with the same few companions. Having everyone else look like clones of each other is just ludicrous for a $150m game made for a 2012 audience.
A sure sign that you are in an old, dying paradigm/mindset, is when you are scared of new ideas and new technology. Don't feel bad. The world is moving on without you, and you are welcome to yell "Get Off My Lawn!" all you want while it happens. You cannot, however, stop an idea whose time has come.
I'm not a fan of a huge amount of customisation options for my avatar, I play in 1st person, so it's a complete waste of time for me.
However I understand that some ppl do like to feel they are creating an individual character, needless to say they all end up looking the same as soon as they wear the generic armours etc that they end up looting, but hey their ears are probably just slightly more fuller than the other guys
I wonder how much extra development time the game would have needed for a much fuller system, any real developers out there from a AAA title able to offer a realistic time frame (Not interested in you armchair devs)
If this is true, I have to say I'm very disappointed.
The body types are atrocious and that if anything needed to be expanded. I could've been ok with the rest of it, but 4 horrible body types is just ridiculous.
I had a really hard time feeling connected with my character during beta due to them being so generic looking and was hoping there would be some tweaks to the system.
Oh well....

It's a shame really. A game that promotes the importance of the storytelling and role-role truly need some more customizing options. However, I'm sure that in some future patches they will solve this problem.

Definitely TOR's weakest link, I didn't expect it to change though so I can't say I'm disappointed over this news.

Agree, everyones gonna be running round looking like a shepherd clone
Greatness is difficult to appreciate from close up. The great mountain on the horizon is only the ground when you are standing on it.
I think the superhero MMOs ruined character creation. And by ruin I mean set the bar so high that every MMO needs that level now. It could be worse though. Asian MMOs have **** all for character choices.
When new voices are added, new character types will be added.
The 4 heads in this first release had to fit the same voice.
How freeing that voice over system is! Well free from imagination, thought, choice, growth, so on and so forth.
Three steps back honestly.
I used to play MMOs like you, but then I took an arrow to the knee.
Personally it does not bother me. When I get all that gear on, I can barely see my character anyway. The ability to swap out equipment stats is way more important for variety IMHO.

I like the Cyborg racial options so I'm okay with that. I never ran into anyone who looked just like my BH. I don't think it's as bad as many make it out to be, there just aren't sliders which would go a long way to rectifying the system as it stands now.

Well this could be remedied if they ever add an ingame character editor. That's a big 'IF' though.
I was looking forward to some long hair designs for girls. I hate short hair butch looking female avatars. So...probably will go with male avatar in this game.
Yeah I really don't get it myself, but try convincing the die hard fans of that.
Honestly had they setup the speech animation system properly, it would have been able to work across different faces with variable proportions... but then again, Bioware seems the type of developer that would rather hard-code things to try to achieve their idea of perfection, than accept that nothing will ever be perfect and just open things up for countless more options.
When will people understand that western devs are terrible at character creators, short of a game that went boom after a few months. It's sort of ironic really if you compare it to eastern MMO's.
Gimme my individualism. I don't want to be staring at 100 clones.

For people that consider customization important, yeah, such a lack of it definately hurts the gameplay experience. That's kinda what makes it important.. I'm pretty sure that if Bioware hasn't addressed it yet, they never will, though. They might add a few more hairstyles in six months, but I can't see them ever doing the sort of revamp that would satisfy people who want real customization.
I didn't expect it to change this late in development. When I first saw it weeks ago, I thought it was pretty clear, it is what it is.. but I guess maybe I'm just jaded like that. Thinking back on all these MMOs, there was that time when DAOC added facial sliders with their 3rd major expansion. So anything's possible
When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.
I think its pretty bad when you run into your twin, and it's a freaking npc. It seems as though many of the npcs were made using the same character creator. Though, this is really the only problem I have with the game so I'm ok with the game overall, but yeah the character creator is that bad (or that limited may be a better way of putting it).
So whats the complaint? Is it that you cant make a face that you personally like? I have this problem with Bethesda games... lots of customization but they all look like crap to me, but It does not make me enjoy the game any less.
I guess we all enjoy different things. For me the gameplay is king and the look of my avatar is way down the list.

Yeah you can only be a stick figure, bird chested and chicken legged, he-man or Fat-albert. Definitely not all that appealing on that end. Some sliders for the body would be much appreciated.
Though on your first point, DA2, ME, etc, have far more facial options and much more in the way of expression.

Dragon Age 1 to Dragon Age 2 is a good example of this.
I like the idea of a silent protagonist, your choices have the others around you react and the world change. They give you a voice that's use for the flavor audio.
That'd work honestly.
Dragon Age 2 had alright mechanics, but I felt less involved.
SWTOR as I've said elsewhere, is by all measures an okay Star Wars game. Worth 60 a box and 15 a month? Not to me personally. Why? Because I felt more like I was witnessing Star Wars than actually playing a role in Star Wars.
But, most people fear choice when it comes down to it.
