Why I will not be resubbing to STWOR

First, I would like to say that I have been a life long Star Wars Fan, and I have even read quite a few of the novels.

Second, surprsingly the not awesome graphics of STWOR does not bother me.

Third, I did enjoy the effort of being story line based.

Fourth, I don't mind the instancing or the fact that I always seem to be the only person I see...of course, this may change today...and after christmas it will even become more crowded I assume.

Fifth, the crafting is easy and I barely really have to do anything.

The reason I am not resubbing  is that I am so burned out on theme park games that I don't think I can play them anymore. The do this, do that, to ride our roller coaster and do what everyone else is doing just doesn't appeal to me anymore. I was hoping that my interest would hold...because I did spend serious money to play this game.

I do plan on at least playing till my subscription ends.

I have already returned to EVE, where I am the CEO of a small time mining operation...

Currently Play: ?
Occasionally Play: Champions, Pirates of the Burning Sea, WOW, EVE ONLINE

    Welcome to the club...

I'll be resubbing for a few months as there is no MMO out there that I'm not bored with or simpely just not appealing.

I played for 3 days, and I got to level 17.

However, this post is more about theme park vs. sandbox, not anything against STWOR, it just the latest example of a theme park game, and highlights how the quest system is boring and tired.

Nothing says fun like right clicking a rock and picking mine!

And no, I do not have ToR nor do I think I'd play it for more then a month. ToR one ups theme parks and makes it into a 'rollercoaster' ride. Rather then having sharp turns and loops, its more just drops up and down over as you go.

i hear you bro. i got so tired of the same old repeat stuff until i tried eve online. after trying eve online i never went back to a fantasy type mmo, well i wouldnt say i never went back, but  it just wasnt the same anymore. u should try it if your looking for a real challenge, because eve offers a real challenge compared to any other mmo. its nto spam your button to do this, or x to do this. it is a game that has a learning curve requirment, and takes yrs to master. the economy is awsome, the people are great lol, gfx is epic, and you know what the best part is? when you get the hang of eve and do make a name for yourself people rememeber you forever, not like in any other mmo when you hit cap and become the best pvper in game your only rememberd and forgotten, and on top of that your never truly satisfied with what you have achieved. in eve all the achievments you earn you will be well proud of. just check it out man its a really great game.

OP, you should have listened to your gut and saved yourself $60 in the process.

It's been known, for quite awhile now, that SW:TOR while not a bad game, is just another themepark MMO.

    Thanks Aligada,

But, I am presently playing EVE Online. I am a CEO of a small time mining operation...did anyone catch the Star Wars reference?

I also have a pirate...who is funded by my small time mining operation.

There is already a thread dedicated to themepark vs sandbox for people to rehash the same tired arguments over and over again.  The majority prefer themeparks, get over it.

Yeah, I agree. The same can be said that most people eat at McDonalds or Burger King but it doesn't make it good wholesome food now does it. It's fast and easy so it preys on the lowest common denominator. Kinda like Themepark MMOs.

A lot of us are in the same boat.  Pure themepark games bore us silly.  On the other hand, many of us avoid games like Eve and especially MO and Darkfall because gankers annoy the hell out of us.  Where is our AAA MMO?  We don't have one.

and I though the reason we let this games pass is becuse it bugged like hell, eve is a space simulator, the tradicional blade/magic/guns we like the most is lacking of good ones, also the main problem with most of games is not gankers, is losing what you have equiped, if had more games like shadowbane and slayers, what you have equiped is saved, all the rest you can lose, also take note shadowbane, only 4 towns was npc made, all the rest was player made, with guilds and alliances, that is what we need not more hand holding things like TOR.

Fair enough, OP, and I understand.  I personally love the game, but it's not for everybody.  I feel they delivered exactly the game that they promised, and then some.  But in your book, that's not a positive thing.

Have fun in Eve!  It's a favorite of mine, as well.

SWTOR is not a themepark MMOG. SWTOR is an hybrid between a SPG and an themepark MMOG.

Nah, even when I don't lose anything but time due to gankers, if there are too many per population, it gets really annoying.  In fact, in a way, it's more annoying when I get ganked by someone who doesn't even gain anything from it.  As for Shadowbane, from what I understand, it had no place for the solo player.  I don't want a game where I can build nothing unless I'm in a guild.  That means my labor belongs, not to me, but to my guild, and if I leave the guild, I lose everything I've built.  It's silly.  People should at least be able to build a little house and not have to worry about losing it to some kid with too much time on her hands and nothing better to do except go around and destroy what others have made.

That's why I hate pure pvp sandbox games.  Either you're a fetch and carry crafter and builder for some guild, or you're a killer, there is no room to be anything else.

Play Early Access... get burned out and buy the game. Wait seems like OP is trying to illicit responses out people with nonsense. Must have be a great game if he still purchased it.

I am sorry you don't enjoy the game OP. Still, it has been quite obvious that the game would be very heavily based on storyline and would be themepark since EARLY development. It makes me wonder why you even tried it considering the fact that you are burnt out on this type of game...

Good luck on your sandbox games. I hope you find something you really enjoy!
