Thats the reason I didnt buy (nor will buy) SWTOR.
Its just the same thing Ive done in other MMOs, but this time its Star Wars.
Sure the Class Story line, Interactive cut-secenes and VOs are cool and new, but sorry, not enough incentive to spend $60 plus a monthly fee.

So the exodus has started now that people relize swtor is really not that good of a game. I've also given up on mmo's bascally, most of them are just wow-clones that are boring linear themeparks, and like NONE have end game worth bothering with, daoc and rfo had decent endgame, but wow? nope, the raid gear has no use, no decent faction vs faction land control pvp like daoc, honestly thats what these theme parks need, is to copy and paste daoc's rvr, with pve raid gear being the best gear for pvp, it worked fine in daoc, just ignore the minority pvpers who will moan.
Its been a while since a mmo has come out that had decent endgame, that wa rewarding, daoc you could gain skills that improved your char more, as low as lv 20 you could hit realm rank 2 which can let you get a decent amount of realm skills.
"mmorpgs" are becoming disasterously close to single player games, with swtor being the worse offender in that respect, other than a few quests you never need anyone, imo we need a mmo that has forced grouping, or GASP! Actually hard content that is not soloable at all and requires teamwork. FF11 owned in thi regard but they wowified the game recently and made it a total joke, just like swg, eq2 and many others have done.
This wow-generation of mmorpg players have no clue whatsoever what a real mmorpg used to be like before wow ruined the genre.
Being a pessimist is a win-win pattern of thinking. If you're a pessimist (I'll admit that I am!) you're either:
A. Proven right (if something bad happens)
or
B. Pleasantly surprised (if something good happens)
First, I would like to say that I have been a life long Star Wars Fan, and I have even read quite a few of the novels.
Second, surprsingly the not awesome graphics of STWOR does not bother me.
Third, I did enjoy the effort of being story line based.
Fourth, I don't mind the instancing or the fact that I always seem to be the only person I see...of course, this may change today...and after christmas it will even become more crowded I assume.
Fifth, the crafting is easy and I barely really have to do anything.
The reason I am not resubbing is that I am so burned out on theme park games that I don't think I can play them anymore. The do this, do that, to ride our roller coaster and do what everyone else is doing just doesn't appeal to me anymore. I was hoping that my interest would hold...because I did spend serious money to play this game.
I do plan on at least playing till my subscription ends.
I have already returned to EVE, where I am the CEO of a small time mining operation...
My question to you is what did you expect other than a themepark style of game? Or is it an issue where you thought/hoped that something about TOR would make playing a themepark game feel different and more like a sandbox.
i'll certainly agree with the op that playing SWTOR reminds me of how awesome eve is. that doesnt necessarily mean i'm not resubbing though. maybe i'll play eve and swtor. though... i'm having fun in l2......
RIP Ribbitribbitt you are missed, kid.

lol well i can agree with you there. eve is borring, atleast the first time you start out. the game doesnt get fun till you get the hang of the game, and also get some skill points. i dont know what made me like it, cause to be honest, i use to look away from eve. i dont know i think it offers more challenge. i like playing mmos that are challenging. ffxi was the first challenging mmo i ever played, and it was out way before WoW. after that it was just same repeat over and over. when you get to the endgame, there isnt much left for you to do. atleast in eve everything you work for in the end is well worth it. pvping getting ganked in eve takes time to learn. its not like an mmo where you just smash buttons and you die lol. other then that i dont know what other games can be as challenging. oh and i do think starwars is a fun game just not enough to keep me itnerested. the story line is awsome, but over all everything starwars has is the same routine you play from any other mmo, except maybe archage and gw2.

A person who bought a game and decided they didn't like it.
That's certainly post worthy.

Either way, you can't lose! Try it out sometime!
