Star Wars : The Massive Snaf-fu!!

Everyone got the surprise of their life this 12/22/2011 AM when they tried to log on without having a subscription plan in place. You NO longer had an account even though you already paid for 30 days when you bought the game. Guess you just forfeit those 30 days unless you agree to subscribe!!!!

Way to keep customers.

I seriously doubt this MMO will last very long with these type of practices

I don't understand these posts today.  It's like everyone thinks we humans don't make mistakes.  OR repeat them.  /sigh

    You sure this is accurate?

I have a feeling those playing will come and call you a liar...for the sake of SWTOR hopefully you are ha ha.

You must be new to MMO's this is not how all of them work, you pay for 30 days, you play 30 days, NOT 2, then if you don't have a sub you don't have an account. Again not after 2 days of the 30 you already paid for!

It was pretty clearly stated in all the stuff I went through last night activating my game that I could not play without having a subscription plan in place. You get thirty days with your purchase, but to actually play the game you need a subscription plan setup or you need to have a game card registered.

I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.

OP is flaming , it's like that with EVERY new MMO... BUT

on the other hand anyone here PAID the subscription and had this message. I tried to log before going to work and it said I wasnt on a subscription plan... So I left to work, and now here at work it says i am... So i'll check tonight if I can log in.. But anyone else seen this happens?

  • DerrosDerros Member UncommonPosts: 1,216

Pretty much every MMO requires you to set up a subscription before you start your first 30 free days.

  • WindamereWindamere Member UncommonPosts: 75

Yes OP is flaming, just got off phone with support, and being told that I can't use something I already paid for unless I agree to pay them more in the future is quite disheartening.

  • jairusjairus Member UncommonPosts: 175

when you buy a new mmorpg you need to set-up a subscription, with a CC. then you can hit cancel.

unless what your saying is that they are making you pay for the next month befor they give you the frist free one. then yah. thats some shady stuff. but they all make you set-up a sub befor you can play.

It is human to make mistakes, but that doesn't mean that there are not consequences for them.

While this is a 'human' mistake, it is one that should not have happened in a professional setting.    The feeling -- which I agree with -- is that a business should have better advised their subscribers about this.

Is it the end of the world?  No.  Is it an example of poor customer service?  Yes - imo.

These ppl must be new with online transactions, every mmo made you setup a sub to be able to play, you dont get charged until your 30 free days expire. If you cancel before the 30 free days expire you dont get charged at all.

And it says clearly on the back of the box you need an active subcription to be able to play as it does on every single MMO, make sure you dont sign your house away by mistake because you decided not to read the contract.

thats BS about active subscription, People that use game time cards don't have active subscriptions! When you bought the box you bought a 30 day active subscription! not 2 days.

I don't think Rift saw such a high traffic to their site in first 2 days.

You would think they would've seen this coming for a company that wanted to take such cautious steps to ensure server stability they probably have it now since a large majority aren't able to play currently. I myself can't since I honestly forgot all about signing up for a subscription; EGA messed me up some there.

I might be outa line here but it seems so many people bought the game they are overwhelmed atm and are trying to do the ease players in thing as they did awhile back. But i could be wrong.

Dude its written on the back of the box, you dont make the rules, you should have read it and if you dont agree you shouldnt have bought it, it has been like this since UO. You had to use a CC to activate every single one for the 30 days.

Like I said make sure you read your contracts from now on so you dont sign your house away and then complain cause you didnt read.

Game cards count as an active subscription, so I don't know where you're getting your information from.

So you didnt read the terms and conditions before you bought it? Damn thats too bad stop whining about the fact you were the only at fault for not checking how it actually works, Even more considering this is your first MMO( at least I hope it is ) .

Every box also comes with 30 day play time so saying that makes no difference, even tho you think it was a perk if you bought the digital it isnt, every MMO comes with 30 day free play time with or without the box.

Yeah, bioware is teh first company to ever do this, you know they dont charge you until the 30 days is up right , you just need to prove you have some sort of valid subscription method, you know you can cancel it right away right, just to make sure it doesnt automatically bill you each month.

You know if you had an 8th grade education you wouldnt make threads like this, youd just use common sense and not panic over nonsense.

Ill probably get a warniing for that last one. meh.

Probably will, but it was well worth it. It's sad people have to run to some sort of forums to complain about stuff nowdays...

    This.

Never understood the argument: Well everyone is doing it like this so then it is ok.

You paid for the box which means you paid for 30 days of gametime. No reason for them to take your credit card details for potential future transactions so you can enjoy what you already paid for.

thats what I mean, They should count as active but apparently not to SWTOR, if you don't have an active credit card subscription as of 3am this morning, you no longer have an account. Even though the game came with active subscription of 30 days.
