No you can't. Not past level 30 you are doing that.

Could you finally be honest with people here and reveal how high you played? It's pretty clear you never made it past 30, but you are pretending very hard to give that impression or even that you've gone through the higher Flashes using only two skills.

    It's really not so.

who said anything about going through flashpoints with two skills? thought the discussion was you could level to 50 using only two skills also where in any of my posts did i say I have a character past 30?

Which is a big lie and not even possible.

How many servers SWTOR will launch with on release?

ShredderSE - Umm how many do they need? Maybe 6.
US, EU, Asian, France, German and Russian.
Subs will be so low there is no need for more
    Snoocky-How many servers?
The first 3 months a lot...after that 2 i guess, one for PVE and 1 for PVP...

Thorbrand - SWTOR doesn't have longevity at all. Might be one of the shortest lived MMOs.

Oh here comes the sandboxers. Yeah how have your great games faired? Oh everyone has been a complete failure because sandboxes do not work. We just need to add some more failures to the list before we send you guys back to the single player consoles where you belong.

TOR can succeed I just do not want to see it happen on the grave of Rift. All that does in the long run is benefit WoW by removing competition of any kind.

Flashpoints are a big part of this game. This is why you cannot discount it. It's just dumb to say you can play ANY mmo with just two skills, lol.

You sound foolish saying that. Read what you wrote and ask if anyone in their right mind can say they play ANY mmo with two SKILLS.

Now you can play a game (like Rift) with just two or three BUTTONS macroed. That's a totally different thing and what I'm saying.

Pre-loading every single skill you have in a certain order macro so that you just have to push ONE button and no matter what the situation is, you win is NO SKILL.

Period. You cannot do this in ToR because there are NO MACROS. People have to use more skills than two.

yea but i thought the question was could you level to 50 using two skills and the answer is yes you can.. would anyone do it? of course not..also in Rift only time you could get away with two button play was on melee souls, casters i always had at least 15-20 skills I cycled through not to include a couple macros.... anyway macros are coming to this game so be ready for that .. just have to see what they will allow

I was able to solo the first "heroic" area (some island on the first world).. died a few times, but managed to do all the quests there

I've come to the first instance.. i guess you can call it.. and the ENTIRE THING is EASILY soloable, except the last boss..   Nothing annoys me more then shit like this.  I waste a good 25 -30mins clearing everyhting only to find out you cant kill the boss alone.    It's not even like im barely surviving the pulls either, they are almost as easy as the mobs roaming around the quest world...and this is in the instance..

I played rift and i was able to make it to max level, and even get all my t1 gear with runes. I dont think I will be able to make it to max lvl in this game

    stay away from it.

I predict a large drop in subs after the first 3 months, this is no wow killer... it wont even reach 1/2 of wow's subs.

Hilarious. Those quests and that instance are designed for 2 people. You should be able to easily complete it at 12 with a companion considering that youve outleveled it and you are using a companion.

Level 12 is like... 3 hours work tops, even for a new player. And its not even a flash in the pan for what the game is like. You barely have any class defining skills at that point.

Not sure how you found a game where you can mash one button (Rift) to be more entertaining than one which has active combat (SWTOR). But more power to you, at least you wont be on the SWTOR forums asking the game to be dumbed down into the supermacro crapfest that Rift was.

I'm still having a blast in Rift and TOR just seems so MEH. Just the UI lockin alone would drive me nuts. I don't know that I could play an MMO without a flexible UI anymore. Also there's nothing really new to it besides the voiceovers. All seems pretty much been there done that, got the t-shirt. I am eager to try GW2 though so I'll be holding out for that.

Because after level 30 you would die a lot. Unless you were using all your crowd control abilities.

Mobs dont come one at a time. Best case scenario - you willl get 2-3 standard mobs and a stronger mob, and if you dont use CC you will die.

My tank companion is well equipped with blue gear, I use my force shield on him whenever its available and he still dies on every second or third pull after level 30.

Its slightly easier as a tank with a healer companion, but not by much. If you used two abilities you would fail. But feel free to prove us wrong and do a video of Hoth or a later planet using only two abilities.

They're both easy, but yeah, I just found Rift's to be a lot more fun.  Lot more variation in abilities and attacks.  Lot of it was redundant, but a lot wasn't.  In TOR, I just feel like I'm using the same few moves over and over, level after level.

At 28, I finally got a new move, finally something to mix in with those two attacks I've been using since I started.  Its not much better than what I've got, but at least its something different - and its on a 45 second cooldown, making it pointless to even waste hotbar space on it.  Maybe if I could put it in a macro, I'd at least see it once in a while.

    When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.

You do know why Rift population is dropping? They are all on here! There are only so many MMO players to go round and they run from one MMO to the next like hunted animals. Soon we we all be leaving for Secret World as we will find that "SWTOR's population is dropping, it is not the game it used to be." We are the ones leaving, we are the ones doing this, no one else.

If you enjoy Rift, then enjoy your game and don't worry, if you suspect 'ghosts' you will not only start to see them in the near future, bu you may stop enjoying what you're doing now because your looking for those 'ghosts'.

They're games, for you to enjoy, not to worry about them.

Nah, you will be back on Rift in a month, as SWTOR sucks bad....

You will stay in Rift until GW2 is released.

Then you going to play both.

Sounds to me like you aren't, 'done', with Rift yet.

You may have other options, I'd never really get a game because everyone else is playing it.  You'll just end up resenting it, if you can't find a reason yourself for purchasing it noone else will be able to convince you it's right for you.

There's no, 'rifts' in SWTOR so that public questing dynamic isn't there.  SWTOR has full on story, (much better then Rift IMO), but the questing style is from about six years ago, which can frustrate.

SWTOR has balance issues towards the end game while RIft may not now.  Personally I prefer SWTOR for the story and the mechanics of gameplay, but thats my opinion.

If your servers a bit dead maybe you can change to a more populated one? It does sound to me like you'd rather not give up on Rift entirely

This looks like a job for....The Riviera Kid!

Blimey I really have started something here.

But it does seem to be that there really is nothing different, and why invest another 1700 hours somewhere else to be at the same point.

Lets see how SWTOR grows, and if its patches can build upon its good foundation - and hopefully do something with the graphics at the same time, really dissapointed in them, but its not always everything in a game.

    Thanks all.

Questing/leveling, PvP, doing instances and combat in general was imho more fun in Rift until you hit max level. But maybe it'll get better, I'm just lvl 25 in swtor.

  • PieRadPieRad Member Posts: 1,108

Played a lot of games myself, Incl. Rift. And let me say this, TOR is a blast, I'm having so much fun, the lvl'ing is fun too, unlike other games.

And! I'm not even a star wars fan, but still having a lot of fun, I do not regret getting this game one bit, best buy this year, for me.

  • ghaianaghaiana Member UncommonPosts: 106

I've played Rift until Skyrim was released. I liked the game a lot. I've started Star Wars since early release and somehow this game is more addicting than Rift. For me the reason is the storytelling in swtor. I just want to know what happens next to my character. I've always been a Bioware fan in respect to their stories.

As a MMO, well the launch was pretty much ok, there is enough to do, like crafting, questing, space battles, searching holocrons, achievements etc. I prefer the crafting over the crafting in Rift, you can crit recipes and make better items. I also prefer the fact that gear is partly moddable, so you have more options to look like you want.  I liked the puzzles in Rift better, because here you have to jump on boxes etc to find holocrons at which I am a failure. I didn't do PvP yet, I'm too much involved in questing still. I like the spacebattles as a kind of minigame, when you have to wait or only have a few mins to play. I love having a spaceship as a kind of "home", although you can't change anything about it.

For me it's Swtor now, I won't say I won't play Rift ever again.
