Again, just because you're willing to pay doesn't change the fact that it's unjustified and not needed.
Welcome to Economy 101.
The price isn't the same as production costs. It does not matter whether those 15 USD are "needed" or reflect maintenance, development, or any costs.
There is an offered price, you either accept it or not depending on how you value the product.
Simply put, for many the subscription fee is acceptable in perceived value of product.
I completely agree. It still doesn't change the fact that people are getting robbed regardless if they feel they are getting their entertainment value out of it. As long as people perceive that the P2P model is the way to go when there are always better alternatives, it will continue to exista and people will continue dishing out money that shouldn't have been asked for in the first place.
The game is decent as a free to play type game. But it is not an mmo its more of a single player RPG with some chat thrown in. Who is actually willing (Be honest) to pay $15 dollars a month for a game not worth one penny???
This is an easy answer, the retards will be willing............I mean just look here on this website look how many FTARDs love this game ROFLMAO......point made.
Just another person mistaking their opinion for some sort of natural law.
If you are holding out for the perfect game, the only game you play will be the waiting one.

Just by looking at your post history you sure loooove posting in its own subforum. Who's the bigger FTARD then?
People would pay a lot more for a giant turd in a Darth Vader suit, and EA knows it. It's Star Wars, it doesn't have to be good.
This. Even with that said though, if people want to buy it and play it, more power to them. If they made a mediocre mmo with the theme of soemthing I really liked, i'd probably play it. Maybe not since I like kung fu, and all those MMOs really suck. But still, if a game being star wars is enough, thats fine. The game actually doesn't look that bad, but its not worth my 15a month.

Yeah, I wish there was a kung fu mmo that was as good.
Me, I am holding out a while before jumping in to SWTOR, and something else may get my attention instead....

You must hate life, lol. You make it sound like it is bad to like this game. Once I am done playing it I will just move on to the next. It is a never ending cycle. I like almost every game I play, and I always like to try out the new games for every system. When it comes to MMOs I was playing RIFT before this, and I will be playing GW2 when it comes out, and I’m still looking forward to Blade & Soul. I got to stay up to date with games because I’m in school for Game Art & Design. A person can get paid good money just sitting around analyzing video games. They give Bachelor’s Degrees for this, lol. So it’s best to try and like every game rather than just trying to like one.
I'll sub long enough to finish my class story. One for Empire and one for Republic.
Then, I'll cancel and delete it from hy HD. I can't see myself paying monthly for a SPO game.
I figure that will take roughly around two months? So, I will have still have spent under $100 total for the whole gaming experience. I can live with that. I'll play other games until GW2 comes out.
Well....$15 is like going to the movies in prime time, and getting a snack/drink.....So I mean, its not much money....I will agree that about everything out in its current state is not worth my money, and the foreshadowing on swtor is not good if I had to predict...
It is also about twice the price of a TV sub (approx. two dozen channels), half that of a combined internet, phone and TV sub. It's also about half of what I pay for electricity.
Compared to those things and the value they represent in my life I'd say P2P-MMO subs are generally quite high priced.
The game is decent as a free to play type game. But it is not an mmo its more of a single player RPG with some chat thrown in. Who is actually willing (Be honest) to pay $15 dollars a month for a game not worth one penny???
Me and a whole lot of other people. While you see a "single player RPG with some chat thrown in." The people who are playing the game are seeing something Bioware does very well brought to the MMO world and it's awesome. It may not be everyone's cup of tea but there's a lot of folks out there drinking it right now.

Not worth $15/month. In fact, I went in figuring that if I got a solid month out of it, it would have been worth the purchase and I was a little hopeful I'd like it enough to pay for an additional month or two. Instead, I hit the wall with this game a week after release and just couldn't bring myself to log in.
Today I switched factions and hearing that imperial Agent is the best storyline in the game, I'm giving that a shot. Definitely the best level 1-5 experience I've had so far and vastly superior to the starting levels on the Republic side. Maybe I'll get lucky and get some play out of the remaining three weeks, but the game has serious issues and with player faction population balance being one of them, it's not encouraging to find that the overpopulated side also seems to offer a much better experience. (I'll have to see how it plays out as I advance). I don't see how they will ever restore balance and they may find the population imbalance grows over time.
I'll wait another 6 months before getting into this one again. I preordered, played for a couple days and quickly realized it was far from finished. I'm not paying for a work in progress.
I'm only in this game for the PvP and from my perspective, ToR is very far from being playable, let alone engaging or fun.
15 dollars ? I pay more in a week for coffee. Funny how people think 15 dollars is a lot.
^^^ Hasn't read the arguments on why people don't want to pay a subscription fee.
Anyway, I didn't want to start a new thread for this, but a friend just bought me the game on Amazon so it'll be here in a few days. He knows I've been vocal about EA's involvement and its supposed similarities to WoW, but we're good friends and he wants to play it with me. If nothing else, I'll get a free month to review it, at most I'll have something to play til GW2 comes out, but I'll give my appraisal once I've logged some hours in the Old Republic. Who knows, I picked on WoW before I played it, and ended up playing it for 5 years. I'm positive that won't happen with TOR, but I don't think many people turn down free games.

That's isn't a fact, that is your incorrect conclusion.
Only price people "should" be asked for is the price people are willing to pay. Which is the case.
Just because you do not perceive same value and do not accept the price does not mean people are getting robbed. It only makes them prefer something else than you.

Why are so many people concerned how I spend my own 15 bucks? If I'm willing to pay for a product then I pay and that's how free economy works. I hate socialism and planned economy where someone else tells me how and when I can spend my money. Socialism is the main reason why EU economy is so fucked.
Nobody is concerned about how you spend your $15, they just think you are dumb for spending it on an unpolished game.
P.S. Yes, TOR is an unpolished game. It's got polished scenery and quest cutscenes (which will fool people for a while) but the actual gameplay features need a LOT of work. No, I'm not going to waste my time listing them, you know what they are.

Thos people should realise that MMO's will allways be a work in progress. The game is fun and none of the so called design flaws can take that fun away from me. No game will be perfect at release, not even GW2, which is really aiming to get close to perfection. At this moment SWTOR is the best MMO available for those people that like great stories.
Gearwhores and gearaddicts should probably move back to their other game. But for me its really simple, i can choose to enjoy this great game till release of GW2, or i could start an MMO sabatical, because beter then this game quallity does not get in currently released MMO's.
Those 15 bucks are better spend in SWTOR then anyplace else, it actually saves me money. When not playing MMO's i spend a lot more money during those hours then the $15 i do playing SWTOR.
Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)
Personally, I wouldn't even pay the box fee for it. IT's THAT BAD.
But that's just me.
If thats your opinion, then i fear the MMO genre has nothing more to offer you right now. So maybe you should take a break from MMO's and MMORPG.com and go do other things that you do love. Its what i did after 10 years of MMO's and after almost a year i can see again what made MMO's such great games.

I just think this is a game that won't go anywhere for me. I'm not interested in a watered-down, shallow SRPG experience. I know what the "end game" holds and I know I don't have the time to invest myself in that to a degree I feel is satisfying to me.
The things that typically hook me into games are lacking in this one. So I will pass, but I understand if folks choose to play it.

3 beta weekends. Once from BioWare Social site, once from this website and the third time because I had been in the other test. I missed a test in November as well which would have put me at 4.
I'm no stranger to this genre; it's not hard to judge a cookie cutter MMO by not playing it.
But continue to be combative; it reflects very well on SWTOR's community.
