I don't get it, Kishe was a big fan of this game, he got bored with it, he cancelled. Now some of you feel the need to tell him myabe he is burned out, maybe this was not the game for him, maybe he should have played with friends, maybe he should have played it this way or that way....
...did you ever think that just maybe the game itself is the culprit? Why do you find the need to come down on the OP?
Wtf? That is essentially what he wrote. Stating the obvious isn't coming down on him. Really don't see how mentioning it is somehow taking him to task.
Whether it is game related or personal is besides the point. Regardless as he essentially said he's burned out on the game. Probably a bit of both really in my opinion. It isn't any mystery especially for those following this game as clearly the OP has the formula for progression, gameplay, and mechanics BW was using or following for this game.
1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.

I wasn't going to pick the game up but had a friend playing it so I decided to even though I didn't much enjoy the 1 beta weekend I did. I figured maybe I just didn't get far enough as I was only level 10 or so. However, the game is pretty much the same as far as I went, up to about 25. No difference from beginning area, except added space combat which is OK I guess.
I haven't logged into the game in about 4-5 days now. It's simply boring. If I was soloing, I'd probably rather bang my head against a brick wall, but I played exclusively with my buddy which made it OK. I don't find any of the classes very interesting nor the abilities. The operative is so-so but still doesn't exactly pique my interest as it's just a rogue with backstab etc.
I've seen the whole star wars infatuation thing. My gf's son is all crazy over it. The posters, the games, legos, movies, all of it. Never appealed to me though. Never understood how people can get so crazy over some things. Sports teams, IPs, that type of stuff makes no difference to me. I guess if people find happiness with it, that's good, I just can't help but think that it's in some way false or jaded.
Anyways, it makes no matter to me if people like the game. I just hope that future games aren't all going to follow formats like this and have good success. Because that's going to leave the gaming world pretty damn stagnant.
The OP has some valid complaints, and I say from day 1 that I doubted SW:TOR would be a world beater. I do feel; however, that it is probably the best alternative to World of Warcraft that you're going to find on the market today. Questing does get a bit drab towards the later levels when you realize it's pretty much the same situation on every planet. You follow your story questline as well as a secondary questline where you liberate the planet from Imperials or whatever else is causing the Republic military such grief. Mixed in with all that is a smattering of group quests which aren't clearly marked as such until after you pick up the quest. The stories are good for an MMORPG, but they don't compare to KOTOR 1 or 2, and I do feel that the story-based emphasis actually detracts from certain aspects of the game such as a lack of playable races and phases where only one of a certain class can enter.
At least the OP made it that far, my interest always seems to fade at around level 20. I've played Scoundrel to 20ish, Sage to 20ish, now Guardian to 20ish and it really just gets tedious at this point. Maybe I'm just seeing ahead like the OP has, but at an earlier point, realising that this is all there really is. Just the go there, click on three glowies, come back, go there, click on three glowies, come back, go there, click a glowie, go here, click a glowie, go there, click a glowie, come back. Seriously, I've lost count of the number of these quests I've come across.
Tedious is the only way to describe this game. I'll be giving it one more run through on Empire side, probably with an Agent, but really.. I haven't got any hopes of this game holding my interest. It's, as they say, a one trick pony, it has you do the same thing over and over with just a pretty story to disguise the fact. Open your eyes and look at what you're doing.
I enjoyed the game all the way up till end of Act 1, then I realised I already had done it all and only things I had to expect from the game was more of the same.
I got ship, I got speeder, i got crafting skills where i wanted them, i had done flashpoints and warzones and story quests...then i thought...what more would there be for me? ...same warfronts, more identical flashpoints, more identical looking gear, more "kill XX of XXX" quests with ridiculously long prologues.
I played three classes to lvl 30-35 and then lost interest in playing them, when I wondered why that was, it was because past lvl 30 the game simply runs out of carrots to keep you going.
This game isn't bad, it's just unfinished. They've spent all the fireworks on first half of the game and second half just feels unfinished and unsatisfying.
I'm going to wait 6 months to see how the game has matured, I wish they'll make the endgame as amazing as start of the game is so it'll encourage me to return.
Thanks for sharing. Too bad you left when the class storyline really starts to pick up.
People keep saying that but I was one of the few that thought the game got more boring as I went along. I have hit 50 and 40-50 was the most boring experience I have ever had in an MMO. As people said the STORY is actually really good, but the quests are so dull it hurt to play. I even started skipping the side quests cutscenes because they weren't anything special and I knew what the quests were going to be like and just wanted to hit 50 to see what the game was like. Well let me tell you at cap things aren't any better. I respect the effort BIOWARE put into the story line and the voice acting, its cool and its imersive but the rest of their game is complete amateur rubish.
I gotta say. The smuggler and bounty hunter stoty lines were kind of interesting but the consular one is corny as all hell. Far as story lines go.

I actually started playing a Bounty Hunter and I liked the storyline even more than what I was playing. I'm currently leveling one up in hopes that I can find some fun w/ it before the free month is over. The combat style is more enjoyable as well. I like shooting rockets at people its funny.
My honeymoon with the game and rose colored classes fell off when the storyline quests started to get few and far between.
I've got a 43 Sorc, and I have also been noticing the same thing. People are saying the story is best in Acts 2 and 3. I agree that the content of the story is more interesting, but the class quests are more and more spread out. It's basically one quest per area per world. I realize that levels should take longer at higher levels, so, in that case, I think they could have piled on the class quests more.
Also, Bioware put a lot of hype in to companions and companion quests, but in my experience so far, it takes 1000 affection per 30 second conversation.
I'm not quitting the game yet, but I am a little disappointed in the higher levels. This game has a ton of potential, imo. I just hope they have enough good will from players to have enough time to really finish the game

Same ol same ol. TOR brings nothing new to the table unfortionately.
Nothing wrong with his opinion. He doesnt like themeparks, and probably 90% of the people that dont like SWTOR dislike or are tired of themeparks, which i can fully understand. The game offered him something no other themepark offers, but in the end it didnt change the game's genre. I agree, a themepark with great story is still a themepark.

I wouldn't say the bulk of players that don't enjoy this game are because they don't like themeparks or are tired of them. Certainly is the case for some. I think it is much broader than that. All depends on your preferences in general in an mmo as to whether you will enjoy this game or not.
Not everyone is going to care for the design of this game and what it focuses on. Doesn't mean they don't care for themeparks in general.

Maybe its more 70% anti-themeparkers, 20% people focused on stuff like the UI, situational unresponsive combat, etc, and 10% that just dont like it because it doesnt click for them.
People that feel the game isnt MMO enough for them will mostly be anti-themeparkers (or people tired of the model) though, because the game lacks nothing groupwise that youll find in WoW or EQ2 or LOTRO.
My only gripe with game (that they havent mentioned they would be fixing/adding) is that xp comes too easy. They need to slow down all xp to level in my opinion. I went from 25 to 28 in one portion of Tatooine over 2 nights from just doing a few quests and some warzones, and space combat. Ive only seen 20% of Tatooine probably and Im already outleveling it just because I like to pvp and space combat.

While I agree that levelling is too fast, it is extremely bad MMO design if exp is set so you see everything the first time through. WoW nailed this perfectly and Rift failed it spectacularly. Sadly, SWTOR is much closer to rift than WoW.
Wait, so the reason you lost interest is because you ran out of carrots to lead you around? When you had to play the game instead of being led around by the leash? Amazing. Thats almost as good as the other thread today where people are complaining that there is TOO much leveling content in this game, which they blew past to reach cap, and are now complaining there isn't enough content. You guys are just amazing!
1) That is the problem with today's generation of MMO gamers... MMORPG's were meant to be a giant sandbox where the player is highly encouraged to "EXPLORE" the land and to be on one giant lifelong "ADVENTURE" Games like UO and Everquest, both different in their own right but both similar in the fact that the player understood that their character is supposed to feel as If your in a living, breathing virtual reality world... That's what made MMO's fun for me and many other people who were fans of the genre...
Nowadays, new mmo gamers mainly play the game just to pvp as if it's a fps style of game.. It's sickening.. It would be the same if fps games became more "story" oriented where you actually have to explore, level, and use your brain to proceed throuh the game. Current fps gamers would absolutely HATE to do that, lol...
It seems the OP has become upset due to TOR becoming an actual MMORPG after act 1.. It started to evolve from a single player rpg to an actual MMORPG, and the OP became frustrated, angry, and upset over this... It was to much for him that he canceled his account because the game wasn't playing him anymore.... ??? ??? Meaning, the game wasn't holding him by his little hand and blowing his nose, scrubbing his back, eating his food, combing his hair, tying his shoes, dressing him for school, and basically the game stopped being his little mommy.... LOL
Seriously, mods, devs, and fellow mmo gamers.. Look at what this genre has become.. It's sick and is why I've pretty much given up on MMORPG's.. They are to dumbed down and ez for people like this OP.. And this guy STILL canceled his account the moment the game started to become a MMORPG... WOWZERS!!!
In the original Everquest, one had to explore the land to find quest givers. There was no shiny marker on the map displaying the quest giver, the location of the mobs he needs to fight, or a path to the destination.. You had to figure this out on your own by using your brain... Seems this OP would have lasted 20 seconds in this game before becoming angry and canceling his account..
Back then, myself and many other true fans of the mmorpg genre would never want players like this playing thir game. Why? because these types of players do nothing but plague the game. We want those who are intelligent and actually a fan of the genre.. Were here to have fun and enjoy an epic experience.. We don't need players flooding the game who,
A: are not a fan of the particular game's genre and playstyle
B: Expects a totally different gaming experiene than the way the game mechanics are implemented
C: Wants the game to be what they envision, but complain, cry, rant and rave over why the game in their eyes, "sucks"
I never enjoyed seeing anyone like this in my favorite MMORPG.. It not only creates arguments and problems, it ruins my fun factor and overall enjoyment of the game.. I enjoy seeing people in game who are having fun and enjoying themselves.. It enhances your overall fun factor.. This is what was so great about Everquest. Most people you played with enjoyed everything the game was, and didn't complain regarding what the game was NOT..
Nowadays, one cant even enjoy a game without hearing other people who are currently playing it, bash and ridicule it for everything it's not..

Respectfully strongly disagree.
In fact, not sure how someone who quit in the first half of the game can comment on the 2nd half?

Two points
1) RED: all true
2) YELLOW: SWTOR holds your hand at every level in the game through to the end. Like having a mommy and a nurse maid ! Sorry man this is never a REAL mmo (still super fun IMO)

Agree. TOR is a hand holder throughout the entire game. The OP was getting upset in the fact that it simply did not have exciting or engaging content. He said it felt like it was "unfinished".
In reality, he is tired of the same formula. Read his post again:
I enjoyed the game all the way up till end of Act 1, then I realised I already had done it all and only things I had to expect from the game was more of the same.

He's coming to the point where he's tired of the themepark model. Plain and simple. He may not realize it yet, but its the same things I realized playing WoW all the way back in 2006. REALLY! The same ideas, the same thoughts, the same feelings.
I mean, lol, the game is so linear, it could be a parody of how backwards the genre is going. We started out with virtual worlds, full of freedom, to completely on rails gameplay down to the space combat. Its unbelievable.
You have reports of people on opposite sides who supposidly hate each other, passing each other by in World PvP zones just to farm gear.
This is crazy. Sometimes, I suspect you have people on these forums countering other peoples' criticisms of the game, just to reinforce their own faith in how TOR or any other game they are playing will succeed. However, in the back of their mind, they know the game is a virtual treadmill.
This genre had so much promise, so much innovation, but now its only a shadow of its former glory. Sad.

Why is it wrong for people to talk about the good and bad points of an MMO? This website is all for these types of conversations.
Some people simply cant stand criticism of their favourite game. Not sure why as I never had this feeling.
My gaming blog
Yup. 30+ is when the game took off for me. Get together with some friends/guildies and it can be a blast.
Debating on making an alt after my first pvp set for 50 with my main to allow lowbies in guild to level up and await a content patch or two.

People that feel the game isnt MMO enough for them will mostly be anti-themeparkers (or people tired of the model) though, because the game lacks nothing groupwise that youll find in WoW or EQ2 or LOTRO.
I typically dont like themeparks but am having fun with SWTOR. Excited about the pvp changes incoming also. http://www.swtor.com/blog/new-year%E2%80%99s-pvp-update

:-( Everybody has an opinion, and they all stink.
Sad.
