There are far more group quests in SWTOR than WoW and Rift combined.  And no, most people can not solo a heroic 2 at level.   And no one can solo a Heroic 4.  While the incentive my not necessarily be there, the option at least is, which is more than one can say about the similar styled games.

Also, its more efficient to do the regular quest chains grouped.

Yet there are incentives, big ones.  No matter what content you do, if you do it grouped, you gain a substantial XP bonus on kills and quests.  Grouping up gives you a bonus on dropped loot and how often it drops and substantially increases the chances for blue / orange / purple drops.  Then there are the social rewards that go with social levels and XP.

Exactly teakbois. There is a SHIT TON to do grouped, even your "normal" or class quests can (and I suggest you do) be completed in a group.

Grouping is not mandatory - but you're a fool if you don't TRY to group. I've been in a group probably 90% of my online time so far. I don't do it for the social points either lol, I do it for the FUN it adds.

No there isn't. There's more than Rift maybe by itself. Although that is debatable due to the amount of world events you can group for. Certainly isn't more than WoW. Granted WoW nerfed a lot of content that used to be group oriented but there's still a fair amount of group material to be had in that game. Most just skip it.

Having said that there is a decent amount of group material in this game as well. Least by my standards. Whether it is worth doing is up to the player's perspective.

Crafting is my only beef with this game. Not only is the best armor and weapons gotten from missions, comendations or loot, but the whole crafting process almost bankrupts you. I switched my sith from synthweaving to biochem because its so pointless. Why bankrupt yourself crafting inferior gear? This REALLY needs to be addressed.

From 1-85 in WoW right now, i dont think there are *any* group quests, with the exception of Crucible of Carnage.   Its quite sad.  SWtoR is more comparable to vanilla WoW I'd say.

Huh??? What??? WoW is entirely group content, there isn't any that isn't anymore. You hit the button to queue in the LFD tool, and join a group...rinse...repeat all the way up to cap, and then you get to join groups for the REAL group content.

Its not inferior while leveling up.  My Guardian is 40 and Ive got some purples/blues on him, plus blues on Kira and have money (I did have to wait til 26 for my speeder).  ive also never bought anything other than augments from the GTN.  they do need better gear at nax level though, as synthweaving and armormech especially suffer.

Well, I will say that if you love the game but hate the crafting, don't lose hope. Crafting is probably the most commonly overhauled and renovated system in MMOs, even ones that have existed for years. I see no reason why, if its a sentiment shared by many players, Bioware wouldn't take a second look at it.

Can you instance to cap while standing in the exact same 40 yard cobble stone area the entire time? Cause in WoW I can LFD to cap while never actually leaving the AH/Bank square in Stormwind. Oh and if you can, than whatever game that is sucks just as bad as WoW does now because of that alone.

Yeah, you can instance to cap in WoW just hanging out in a city if you want.  You can also do quests and stuff while you wait for LFD to find you a dungeon.

But you see, in SWTOR.  If you wanted to instance to cap you would have to hang out in the space station spamming LFG because there is no LFD tool that you can queue for.  Yeah that's much better.

In time you may be right. Also you really can't solo in SWTOR if one uses his/her companion, not saying it's the rright way to go but if no companion you'd rarely see the SPORPG or w/e...just saying.

Plus, the stuff I loot is a lot better than what I craft.  So it's kinda pointless.

How is it remotely a lie?  Go find all the group quests in Rift and WoW not related to instances.  When you call someone a liar it helps to back up your point.

And using your companion is soloing.  The games solo content is designed around using your companion.

Anyway, I just don't see how these 2 points would make someone quit, it's like someone returning a shirt to the store because it had a string hanging from it.

Well this comparison is pretty far off really. Cutting a string from a shirt should be a piece of cake for anyone. Fixing crafting and the GUI? Feel free to fix that at your earliest convenience when you have a bit of spare time.

Funny, I can get instances pretty easily outside of the space station.  Sure, there is no LFD you can queue for.  That doesnt mean its tough to find a group.  Its like sitting in a boat above a school of hungry fish with a pole, string, hook and bait and complaining that no fish are jumping into the boat.

Now, the LFG system could use major improvements, but people dont even use whats there half the time.  But sitting in a space station spamming is one of the least effective ways of getting a group.  The planet at the instance's level range is a much better place, and sending whispers is also extremely effective.

I can also get a Rift dungeon group *much* faster than the LFD tool.

I dont have a problem with the OP at all.  He said hell come back when the Ui is better.  I dont think its remotely a gamebreaker myself, but then I find a game completely uninteresting if your character is a ship while there are close to 400k people that dont mind at all.

  • hikaru77hikaru77 Member UncommonPosts: 1,123

Dear OP, you dont even know that Bioware is working on a customizable UI for the next content update right?, or that u can craft and find the mats for youself?, probably ur are not even a lv 50.  but is allways more easy to qq and quit, then come back to the game and quit once again bc everyone have better gear than you.  People need to learn to be patient , there is a lot of thing coming soon to the game, guild capital ships, the legacy system, more warzone, flashpoints, operations and may many more. the game have less than 20 days ffs.

Teak I did my research before I posted currently SWTOR doesn't have more group involvment which is lying unless your not counting Rifts and the other group stuff as quests then hell state it. Just state links, me and you could say all this shit but without links it doesn't matter or concrete proof. I put group quest in same category with group  involvement, which we sure as hell know that currently SWTOR doesn't have more in that regards everyone should know that you can disagree but at it's current state, in the fuuture it'll have more, shit lol.

Ok so me and my companion is soloing you are right because I could sure go on a date solo with my girlfriend, yea just me and an npc taking on a dungeon by [myself] no biggie.

Yea so like I play left for dead 2 and you know they are npcs and are considered compainions hense I'm doing this solo.

No but your right I clearly don't know what I'm talking about.

You realize of course they were making the game for 6 years? Not to mention they outsourced the game engine so that the engine they used wasn't made by them which took a HUGE chunk of stuff to do off their plate right?

None I beleive, because I don't think the promised no ability delays, and no pvp unbalanced, I'm not being sarcastic but I think they are holding up to what's been advertised.

You certainly can do that if it is your gaming preference. Just like you can skip all the group questing in this game while leveling if that is your gaming preference.

So what's your point? I mean if the one is so bad then how is the opposite any better? If we're going to call out having varied options to leveling as somehow being a bad thing.

Still though, it does take a lot more work to get a dungeon group together using just chat in SWTOR, than it would take using an LFD tool.  I just don't see what's wrong with a single server LFD tool.

Also, crafting in this game really is a joke. It is like the complete opposite of EQ2 crafting when that game launched. Whereas EQ2 went overboard on the crafting aspect this game went in the entirely opposite direction being as simplistic and uninspiring as can be. Feels like it was simply tacked on.

Although least it isn't comically bad like Warhammer or essentially useless besides for exploiting purposes like AOC was at launch.

I will say that I do actually use a few items I have crafted so at least it serves a purpose albeit rather minor. This is not a game for a someone that enjoys crafting in mmos. Not by a long shot.

EQII's crafting is by far the most BORING crafting system ever created - and I've played alot of games - and is one of the reasons I quit that game. Crafting is a very important part of the game for me and of all the games to compare SWTOR's to you choose EQII? My wife used to laugh at me because I would literally fall asleep while crafting in that game it was so BORING.

SWTOR's has one of the most interesting crafting systems in a long time and while not as complex as SWG's - it's a lot of fun and the reverse engineering produces nice epic pieces. And the best part is - I can send my personal slaves...er crew to do the work for me!

Currently playing SWTOR and it's MUCH better than it was at launch.
