your analogy is flawed...lord of the rings, not based on lord of the rings? huh?

what you meant is....would you watch a fantasy movie not based on LotR and not directed by Peter Jackson?

That would be true if the OP had written "would you play an MMO that was not made by Bioware and not set in the SW universe?", but he wrote This Game. Which is like pointing at, the first LotR movie, and ask "would watch This movie if.." etc. etc.

Regardless, does it matter? Not to me at least. Why? The game Is made by Bioware and set in the Star Wars Universe. It is what it is, no more, no less, and if one wants to play or not is up to that specific individual.

And without the 'soul' idea.. and with voice acting... and with advanced classes replacing souls... and without respeccing your skill trees to other skill trees and... wait a minute! That wouldn't be Rift at all! You almost got me, good sir - but only almost.

the answer is obvious: if its good, yes.

the answer to the OP is equally obvious: if it wasnt for BioWare and the Star Wars name, this game would be already taking a nosedive.

actually Im afraid even with those, its already on its way to go belly up.

when will developers understand that releasing a game they fully know its broken and has lots of critical flaws is a long term suicide?

    when? when? when?

have to give Bioware an A for effort though... but as for the much vaunted voice acting..  its rendered immersion breaking because of the 'echo' whats the point in all of the voice acting if their not making any effort to fit it to the environment. Honestly sometimes your better off just hitting the space bar and reading the text.. at least they got that part of it right.. even if the responses don't match the chat selection. which border on vague to outright misleading. image

So many stupid titles/threads. Mods should ask themself why they have to issue so many  (temp) bans... The answer is simple. Start curing the problem at roots (close down stupid topics), not on surface (stupid replies).

Yes, if SW wasn't made by Bioware and was made in completely different environment, it would esencialy be a very different game, so no I don't know if I would still play it.

Im not going to play even with those things. It's a fun game but it is more AoC than Rift (for example). Intrestingly AoC was reported as the second coming of the holy spirit on the interwebz (here at MMORPG.com particularly). It wasn't, nore is this. Both are fun enough little games though. I agree with your subtext the game itself is being better recieved than it's quality dictates it should be, partly because of the reasons you mention.
