I fully expect a fleshed out end game in a mmorpg if I pay $60 for the client and first month. I can't believe anyone would actually NOT expect a fully fleshed out end game. That is fucking ridiculous. If I pay money for a game, they need to have the entire game fleshed out - the early game, mid game, end game, crafting, PVP mechanics, housing mechanics, and so forth. A game should not launch unless it is complete. If you want to launch an incomplete game, then fucking release it for free. But if you want people to pay for it then you need to do your job and finish the game. There is no reason why Bioware couldn't launch SWTOR with a fully fleshed out end game. They had more than enough time, money, and manpower. It is simply unacceptable for them to do anything less.
No MMO is ever complete. So your argument is flawed. This entire genre releases games and then they evolve over time. That's just how it works. I have never played an MMO from any company that is fully fleshed out and feature complete at launch.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I mean don't get me wrong I loved the experience from 1-49, some of the best content I've ever played through and I personally think it was worth the price of my box. However, I won't give a monthly sub to an incomplete end game. Moreso for me though is the fact that their engine is horribly unoptimized for pvp.

Have fun waiting for that "fully complete" game to launch, I'm not sure I could stand waiting over a decade for it though, how have you been able to? Should be any time now though right?

He's not talking about them adding crap to it later... thats not what fully fleshed out means. It means that when they released the game ALL of the current systems, mechanics, and content should work as intended right out the gate.
Secondly, "ive never played an mmo that was fully fleshed out at launch", So what....
Attitudes like this is the reason we CONTINUE to see games launch that are not feature complete. It's inexcusable...especially from a game compant with as much experience and the amount of funding of EA/BW.
Do you have a job... have you been doing it for a long time... do you do your job in a half assed incomlete fashion? I don't... ive been doing what I do for a long time... so when I produce work its quality matches the years of experience I have doing it.... this is a far cry from that Experience
"Don't mistake a fun game for a good game... Checkers is fun to play but its not exactly the highest point of gaming design... and definatly not worth $60 plus $15 a month"
It is just noise...... but so are farts and they are still entertaining.
No one really takes Xfire seriouslly... but it is funny to see that graph dropping so quickly.
This game.... its like wathcing a car accident happen right in front of you... you just can't look away...
Well put friend, well put.
I am still enjoying TOR (some what) and still playing, but I definitely feel like-
Thought I was buying a Mercedes - turns out it was a Chrysler - still nice, but not quite what I was hoping for.
Then now stuck in that "oh my God" moment right BEFORE a potential car crash - when you have a few moments to decide "do I swerve left or right?"
One path leads to no car crash, continued prosperity and safety and hey, maybe one day I'll get that Mercedes.
Other path leads to ruin and looking to buy a new car again.
Yay MMO-car analogies!
Lol i guess it my turn to make a resuraunt reference... or maybe a nazi reference.. lol
I don't know man... i wanted to like this game... i mean its Star Wars dude... so awesome.. but its just a dissapointment to me.
I do applaud you sticking to the game though... Even DarkPony has jumped ship... and if you look at his post history before he did almost every single post he made was in defense of this game.
Who knows though... EA is stil a juggernaught... if they wanted to they have the funding to completely redo the game.... so maybe there will be a major overhaul and ill take another look at it... for now though... ill just have to keep blowing people off mountains in skyrim
DarkPony jumped ship?! wow didn't se that one coming...he was one of the folks always looking foward to this one. What about MMO.Maverick?
Have fun waiting for that "fully complete" game to launch, I'm not sure I could stand waiting over a decade for it though, how have you been able to? Should be any time now though right?
A game only launches once. If a mmorpg company patches the game after launch to make it a complete game, then by all means, people should support it if they like it. What I'm saying is that people should not support an incomplete game while it is still incomplete, unless the incomplete parts don't matter to them of course.
So no need to wait for a decade. SWTOR might become "complete" in a few weeks, months, years. I would just advise people to hold off supporting it until they each feel that the parts of the game that matter to them are complete.

I only played in beta, and quit even before beta was over. My biggest problem was I expect a virtual world as part of the MMO experience. I want to play a role in a large community as part of a virtual world. That is exactly what BioWare, and SWTOR, does not have.
Just adding more content to a sterile world does not help players like me. I want to see the world functioning, even if I just stand there doing nothing. The best games have day/night cycles, vibrant and active animals and NPC's, weather, and alert creature AI. Birds, random insects, animals, moving NPC's, weather, etc, etc.
Make SWTOR into an active, breathing, virtual world, and then add more content.
I feel a lot like DarkPony but I am going to stick it out, get to 50, and see what happens after that.
I bought a 60 day time card, which should have started counting down today or tomorrow, and after THAT will see if the game still motivates me to plop down for another 60 day card.

Exactly, I feel sorry for this troll who thinks you have to keep paying for a game that is currently incomplete and lacks any serious end game content. I will gladly come back to play SW when it has more things to do at 50 than is currently available. No need to wait ten years for that. If they don't improve it though, I saved myself some time and money No hard feelings Distopia but you definitely sound like a fanboy hah.
I was waiting for a few years for FFXIV to come out and it was going to be my go to game. Same shit happened there, and guess what? Didn't play that either. The difference between us is I'm not blind by being a fanboy, I play for quality and content. Like I said I enjoyed the 1-49 game, but there's nothing for me to do now. Why should I pay 15/month for that?

Yes, I do have a job. I have been doing it for a long time. I also happen to work in the software industry and I know the kind of work involved in releasing a project like this. SWTOR is a very high-quality piece of software and pretty much everything worked in it just fine at release. It doesn't have everything I would want in an MMO, but none of them do at this stage in their life-cycle. In comparison to its competitors, SWTOR was in great shape in terms of quality and polish at release. Sure, there are problems. There are with virtually all new software around a big release. That's just the way it goes. No matter how well you prepare for them, unexpected things can and do happen with something as complex as an MMORPG.
Honestly I think I'm wasting my breath here... I think a lot of you have expectations that are literally impossible to meet at this point. It doesn't matter what Bioware does or says... you will take it negatively regardless.
I just can't wait until that perfect game GW2 comes out and you all start ripping it apart as well... then I will be around to say I told you so.
It's too bad so many people are leaving. Not that I blame anyone after what I've seen post-launch. I could tell that from beta this game was not for me (yet), but I know a lot of people who were looking forward to it and I was open to changing my mind at a later date if they added a few features like really great world PvP. Kinda glad I waited on this one.

I've learned my lesson also. I went out and bought Aion and learned the hard way that I didn't like that game for a long run. For Rift, I did everything I could to get into beta and try it out. After good amount of time in the beta, I knew it wasnt for me. Same with FF(although I still see some potential in that game for me in the future). Played only a few hours of TOR in the beta and knew it, it wasn't for me. The only reason I might pick this game up is to play it as a single player rpg, but I can't stand the idea of having to pay 15 bucks for that

End game in SWTOR is incomplete. Open world PVP is incomplete and a mess. I've played it. I've read about it. They could have finished end game and open world PVP before launch but they didn't. They had the money and time and manpower but they didn't do it. It simply does not matter if other mmorpg companies made the same mistakes. If Bioware wants money today from people who want to play a proper end game and open world PVP, then they should have finished those aspects of the game.

Oh and I am not waiting on GW2.
I disagree on PVP, Beta just isn't a wide enough selection of players to really gauge where PVP should go. I think it's best to wait for the actual community to be there, and determine from there what PVP should be focused on, be it BG's or Open PVP.

Well then if you work in the software industry like you say then I will take your word for as you will have more knowledge than I. Maybe you are correct
What I do know is played SWTOR at PAX and was dissappointed there but I decided to give the full game a chance... even after being equally dissappointed in Beta. I just didn't feel good to play it.
When I sat down with the GW2 demo however.... totally blown away... i mean... so blown away I dreamed about it every night for like a week. The controls where just so damn smooth... an ive read they have made them even better since then.... even though I dont see how its possible.
If GW2 can deliver even half of that feeling then Ill be reduced to a blubbering fanboi

If they had a dungeon finder I likely would have subscribed this month. If I pay a subscription I expect to be able to find groups no matter where I am. I like to be able to run dailies and port to instances when a group is found. That's what I personally expect, otherwise there needs to be something else to entice me to play. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect a $300 million WOW clone to at least get that right.
I don't know why everyone expects this game to come with it out of the box. WoW didn't have one when it started, they didn't add it till years later. Find groups the old way, we all did it before WoW game out with the dumb Dungeon Finder that makes the game basically a lobby based game. There is already enough ways to fast travel, just stop being lazy.
Played, got bored before getting lvl 50s but I made some friends and simply stopped playing ( I only do not unsubbed because I used a pre-paid, which I resent)
Bioware is proving to be a dumb mmo developer making tons of wrong and unpopular decisions
If people leave it will not be because of content so I can't this patch making a ton of difference to those who unsubbed other than the weak minded
"It has potential" -Second most used phrase on existence "It sucks" -Most used phrase on existence
I'll wait 3 months. There are so many things that should have been fixed before the game was even launched, but this is Bioware's first MMO and I'm willing to give them some breathing space. The game also runs terribly on my computer, despite trying various workarounds, but I'll give it time. Like others have described, the game is going to fall further if it doesn't release some impressive stuff within 3 months.
I just do not understand why any company who relies on people subscriping after 30 days and continue to do so, would release a game were the vast majority of the game content that they spent years making and costing $100-$300 million(use what ever figure you want it was still a LOT of money) be almost totally consumed during the "free" time that comes with the box.
I mean really think about this..... a game that is just over a month old, that tooks years to make needs to have content, and not just a little content, added within 30days? Is this really acceptable to people? I can wait around for bug fixes, but this is not something that should even be in the discussion 30 days into a brand new game.
These companies should be spending minimal resources on the leveling content with how really easy they have made it and almost all of it on the post max level content with current level speeds. But they do the reservse......just do not get it
MMO developers just never, ever learn anything from there mistakes or the mistakes that others in the industry have made time after time after time. It really is just amazing.
People were moaning about content just being warzones and dull operations..
..so i don't think adding a warzone and an operation will help.
A new planet, be interesting to see if level cap gets raised :O
Or they could actualy start to transform this into a real mmo not a console rpg version for the pc and call it a mmo. The game is to limited and lacks so many features of a true mmo. Sorry, its a good game, but for single player and not for a so called "epic mmo of the decade".

ROFl, who said anything about what you should do? Do what you like, I was just pointing out that no MMO has released in the state you guys are wanting I doubt one ever will.

I'm pretty much gone mid-february due to other game releases... may come back in march before TSW ramps up in april.

"Don't mistake a fun game for a good game... Checkers is fun to play but its not exactly the highest point of gaming design... and definatly not worth $60 plus $15 a month"

Or they could actualy start to transform this into a real mmo not a console rpg version for the pc and call it a mmo. The game is to limited and lacks so many features of a true mmo. Sorry, its a good game, but for single player and not for a so called "epic mmo of the decade".
I like TOR, just not the mechanics of the game.
