SWTOR polish wise is somewhere between WoW and RIFT, Sales wise it's are closer to WoW and with all that rataining 50% is over estemating it? and when I say retention I mean people who replace the ones that leave. Content wise they are adding a new planet and Warzone.
(Bad Spelling I know)
Ok you know what.
Teala you tell me, what up coming MMO is going to grap the attentions of millions and be more successful then TOR?

SWTOR is not more polished than Rift, at least not in my opinion. I do not care if any MMO's grab the same numbers as WoW. I am not even going to try to guess which ones might and it would be stupid for me to even suggest such a foolish thing. Plus I have to eitehr beta them first or play them to make a call. Also, I think any MMO that can retain 300k to 400k subs should be counting their lucky stars that they can do that here in the US right now - especially ones that ask for a monthly fee.
Now my question is this, are these the same analysts that predicted that selling bad loans overseas with bloated untrue ratings would be a success leading to the economic recession? LOL

I never said it was I ment WoW at launch. That said I think its closer to RIFT.
That said I hope its successfull just to shut those here on MMORPG.com up.
Edit: Whats funny is even if this game retains only 30% thats still 600k subs. Which woudl make it larger then any other westren MMO save for WoW and Runescape.
That's okay GW2 hasn't been released in America yet.

SWTOR is not competeing against WoW of 2004, but WoW of 2012. Sorry.

Folks can bash SWTOR all day long here but I get "warnings" for defending it. That Massively piece warms my heart. I love the game and so does my guild. We're having a blast and the forums are so much quieter and constructive now that all the whiners ragequit. And operatives are getting nerfed! Good times all around. It's a good time to be playing SWTOR.

Tell me anyone that has "bashed" TOR in this thread. We've been discussing it.

So when it releases with poorly implemented Dynamic Events, lots of which have little to no effect on the world and are little more then Public Go kill X quest you'll complain to Anet and not play the game yes?
This is actually a serious question.
As far as AA goes it looks ok atm and I am following it, hopfully its F2P.

Yes, I agree that it would be foolish to presume to know which games will retain what numbers. Though I am confused at prefessing knowledge and experience regarding one set of presumptions, and foolishness and stupidity on another.
I wonder at all the gnashing of teeth over review scores, subscription numbers, analyst forecasts, and the general milieu of other people's opinions on what we should ourselves be experts on--what game we like and how much we are willing to pay for it.

^^^ Well said! I think what people fail to recognize is that there is much more competition against MMOs nowadays, not just from other MMOs either, but from games that don't have subscription fees. There are games that are much higher quality on consoles, multiplayer games on PC (either FPS games, LoLesque, or the upcoming behemoth D3), or b2p games like GW2 that will push those sub numbers way down especially in the US.
I just don't see how people can think this game is "polished" in any sense of the word. Yes, leveling up was overall pretty easy going in terms of running into issues, but now that people are finishing their stories, the true issues (Ilum, Hero Engine, lack of good raids and boss mechanics, and complete lack of character progression - gear is a joke in this game) are coming to light. BW will have some time to improve these issues and people will probably come back later to try the changes out, but the people who they fail to grab now will more than likely not be back based on the attitude toward past MMOs with similar issues.
Retention rate of the share holders squeezing their buttocks together more like over the worries of the longevity of a MMO shoved into a single player hole.

I can give an estimate on SWTOR because I have played the game, I have seen the reactions of the players on the offical boards, these boards and other gaming boards. I cannot tell you how well GW2 will do, or any game I have not experienced yet.
Seriously WoW of today is worse then WoW of yesteryear. And if refinded TOR will be better then WoW ever was.
I want to know how people think TOR can be "refined". The core gameplay is what we've been fed for over half a decade, the engine won't change. The mobs will still be undymanic. The NPC's will never move. They aren't going to change that, no MMO ever does. The only thing they're going to add is more raids and more gear, ad infinitum, yawn, the end.
Teala you tell me, what up coming MMO is going to grap the attentions of millions and be more successful then TOR?
Duh.
I assume AA (Something That I am looking forward too).
TERA (or TSW can't remember which) is really the only game coming up anytime soon and That game failed in the east.
Your GW2 bias has already been proven, but that post was just silly.
Lol its best not to talk about my bias when its obvious that you yourself have some too.
That said GW2? 2 million copies over a few years easily.
For you see unlike you guys my dislike towards a game does not cloud my ablility to be objective and look past my own personal views to see what is and isn't a good game.
So while personal I think GW2 is overrated. objectivly I view it as a good game and can see why people would like it.

Do you visit the WoW forums at all any time there is a patch or content update or even an x-pac?
You woudl swear that WoW would have died off years ago.
Comments
After GW2, this game will be lucky to hold 500k lol....
I'd say a more reasonable estimate would be around 300k.
Edit: Teala beat me to it =P

Sounds more like Riccitiello is trying to spin his way past the Feb 1st meeting without being voted out of his position.
The GW2 raid thread. Game set and match.
